I am pretty sure that the Rosedale Hotel is girl friendly. There are 3 BBS that I know of off of Jiangnan (Zhong?) Lu but they are difficut to find.
Directions: From Rosedale Hotel, head down Jiangnan Lu towards the Haizhu Bridge. You will see an Agricultural Bank on the left side, turn left into the alley next to it. There is a tree in the middle of the road about 150 meters in. The first BBS is just past the tree on the right side. If you keep going past this shop and follow the road to the right and down a hill, you come to a T intersection. Turn right and take the second right at the public toilets. There are another 2 shops about 50 meters in.
Most of the talent in these shops is a bit older, but sometimes you can find a diamond in the rough.

On my trip to China, i stayed at GZ for a night. Having stayed in many places in Southern china, I have noticed one thing about GZ taxis. Shenzhen's Taxi start at 12.50 and in GZ, being such a large city, their cabs start at 7 bucks or is it 8 bucks. I was shocked to see that their cab fares to be so cheap. But later i realized it's probably because of the following reasons:
1. GZ is a lot more spread out than Shenzhen. Therefore it takes lot more money to get from point A to point B.
2. GZ is an old city, built around or on top of another old city. Therefore their transportation routes are really messed up and inefficient. This results in heavy traffic, one of the worst in China, and it takes a lot of time to get from one point to the other, even if it's only 2-3 Kilometers, just waiting in traffic alone makes you pay more than in Shenzhen.
Always take these taxis in order:
1. yellow
2. blue
4. red.
5. green
This is an advice that i got from a HK friend who use to live in Guangzhou for a while.
Also, when i use to live around by the Pearl river Delta bank, near landmark Hotel, there use to be some streetwalkers there a few years back, but what happened to all of them? Things have sure changed a lot in GZ.

Not for certain but I believed it used to true but no longer, they changed that recently. I remember that certain color cabs were driven by local GZ guys and certain color cabs are driven by out of town guys. The out of town guys will rob you blind since they really don't know their way around well enough.
I remember having a conversation with a cabbie last November about that!
