not much chance of that peet in shang edsa.
it is a very open and lounge type setting, with no bar to sit at.
there is a small bar on the 1st mezzanine floor near to the papparazzi resto that has live music and you might find something there. usually it is filipinos in groups but sometimes there could be 1 or 2 guys and 4 or 5 girls in a group and the unattached girls sometimes have roaming eyes as they feel left out of the fun.

you can go next door (5 min walk) to sm megamall and try your luck. i have never seen any options but some guys have picked up numbers so you might too.
shangri-la in makati has a conway's bar (check earlier comments here) at which you can definitely score, but if you are going to travel down to makati (30 - 40 min or 120 php taxi ride), you might as well go to cafe havana or burgos or further south to edsa complex as well.

Thanks for the information about Manila. It has been helpful while I stayed in Ermita. Now for budget reason I moved to Caloocan city, near city hall, and I the like to know more about mongering in this area. Is there any special bar or place to find a girl. Girls are curious about me, but never get the chance to talk to them or ask them.

I Know there is a mall next to monumentum station but never got any luck there either.

Know a few girls that are based in Caloocan but never mongered there. Must be a local scene i.e KTVs.

Why, if I may ask, did you move all the way out to Caloocan? Surely you could have found a budget option closer to the city centre.

I agree with Stunning. I know many girls from Caloocan. It is very easy for them to travel to Malate/Ermita area to meet me there, and all for a few pesos jeepney/bus fare.
The risk that you run in actually living in that area is that if anything goes wrong between you and any of the Caloocan girls you meet, then you are way too close to the boyfrens, brothers, fathers and uncles who can quickly be enlisted to sort out the foreigner. One presumes they will all know where you live.

I can't think of any good reason to live in Caloocan at all, even if it is cheap. You can get cheap accommodation in much better areas.

I didn't think about the family and boyfriend issue. I know young philipino are open minded but not their family probably, so I ll keep quiet here until I move to my own place at least.

I know a sogo hotel in front of monumento station exit, if you are looking for short time. But that s all I have seen.

I personnally live with a nice philipino guy, sharing a flat. I only pay 2500 pesos a month, have a good internet connection and two people in a small flat. It s a bit noisy and poor but people are nice here.

Yesterday night I went out with a philipino friend. She is ladyboy. She brought me to a kind of local bar near monumento turnabout, very durty but young crowd. Lot of ladyboys there and some pretty girls too. There were happy to see a foreigner there and I had a good time.

On the way back a lot of prostitutes talked to me but they were all very ugly. Some guys in restaurant or bar propose to me to go with them for party at their place, with lot of girls but I felt it s too dangerous, so I declined, even the girls were pretty.

To tell you the true, since I am here, I never paid for sex with a girl. I tend to avoid girls that ask for money or help and more looking for girls genuinely looking for sex with foreigners. I have a regular girl I like very much in manila and always have good time with her. She is always asking for more.

Plenty of girls but none real hot. Ended up settling for a chick just cause I was horny and pissed about earlier.

In retrospect I should just given the first girl money cause she was cute.

Anyway, if you want a change from L. A cafe and other places I think Havana has freelances after around 10 and is a little nicer place.

Hahaha - don't we all. But after you have been here a bit longer you might find out that it is a lot cheaper and less complicated to simply bung them a few pesos. It is easy here, if you have the money, to maintain a string of women, but, I personally, find it simpler and less hassle to pay them to leave:).

Otherwise I applaud you. Not many guys go 'native' after such a short time here. No doubt it is very novel, exciting and dangerous to your western attuned mind.

I would, however, advise you to tread carefully. Few realize how much of a jungle it is out there, beyond their luxuriously appointed condos or hotel rooms.

You haven't worked out yet that the basic needs of (most) filipinas in relation to foreigners is to receive hard cash.
We think the drinks and food and fun should be enough for them, but at the end of the day they just want cash.
You figured you had already spent around 4 or 5000 php (I am guessing) on the girl and her friends, and you think that in return she should "repay" you with sex.
The reality is that you could have spent <1000 php on her at any cheaper eatery and offered her 1500 - 3000 or whatever and she would have been VERY happy and been keen to come home with you.
Some girls really love the fine dining and drinks and disco etc but how much you spent on that is not factored into their equation when they are counting how much cash you will give them.

Good observation RK.

"Cash is king" is what my accounts professors always drummed in me and it is no different with many pinays.

Why bother with lovely food and wine when they will like sisig, lechon and chop suey as much as rack of lamb, lobster and steak....sound harsh but is generally true.

Many a monger takes them to Jollibee or 'splashes out' in a Starbucks then gives them the hard cash and everyone is happy (including at times the family of the girl who gets some of her cash). I have never thought that a good mal is a way to reduce the price...a good meal is also my enjoyment and has nothing to do with what happens later. In fact I take girls to nice places as I like good place to eat/drink and I like to think at times they will enjoy seeing a diffferent part of life and have a new experience...well afterwards they may get a new "experience" also :D

Of course the less you spend on food the more that can be spent on "accessories" ..well in my case that is true...and that brings far greater pleasure than lobster (well in my case ;))

In Philippines your white face will automatically assure your social status and it doesn't need to be proven that you "have the goods".

That been said. I like to eat well for my own sake, I can't stomach the disgusting slop that passes for food in Jollibee, once made a mistake of ordering a burger there and got some toxic mixture of pork fat, carton and salt. And the pasta they call "Filipino spaghetti" is gluey pig slop.

Cheap food is cheap for a reason. Its crap.

I think it is a jungle there. I don't live in a comfortable condo , but with a nice philipino flatmate who know how unconfortable and dangerous in can be for me. However he is a nice guy and always bring me to his family place. I feel a bit more safe thanks to him. As soon as I can I will find a nice condo in makati to live here on my own. I will also be able to bring more girls there.

It's a shame he does not know more girls in his place. He is quite a shy guy haha.

Yeah, but the majority of Filipinos love it. Its not purely expense. I'll bet if you offered 10 Filipinos the choice between a lobster thermidor or the toxic orange gloop that passes for Spaghetti in Jolibees, you would have a lot of lobster left over.

I mean, a trip to Jolibees is a real gastronomic treat to most Filipinos. Have you seen what they eat at home? As far as I can gauge, from checking out shopping baskets at the supermarkets, half the population seem to live on cans of sardines and packets of instant noodles:D.
