Here is my report from my recent visit in Artemis. Friday, arrived about 15:00.

You are correct! I recall the same policy when I was there about a year ago. Several of the vinyl covered beds in the old rooms were torn. Management blamed the girls for wearing their shoes on the beds. As a result, they forced them to take them off and leave them outside the rooms to prevent damage.
