There are low lifes hanging out in El Centro and robbing gringos is a good way to make money for those who do not have money. Compared to Poblado or Laurelles, it is not as safe. You would need to watch out for pickpockets, hit and run robberies, and walking around in more isolated streets, just like any other sketchy neighborhood in any country.

I have visited El Centro and I was fine but I walk around with a high level of awareness of my surroundings in El Centro.

As for the casas, 5 years ago there were some guys hanging out near the casas stopping and robbing gringos as they left the casa. At least one of them would claim to be with the police. Several ISG members had encounters with the guy. New Life and some other casas posted pictures and warnings about the risk.

There are many risks, including in Laureles and Poblado.

I am getting ready for the upcoming trip to Medellin and I'm excited about it. This is my third trip to Medellin and I have learned a lot during my first two trips. On my first trip, I made a few mistakes and was unfamiliar with the layout of the city. Most newbies will make mistakes. I wouldn't worry about it except the drugging and robbery thing. Be careful about that. Ha ha ha,.

There are many ways to approach Medellin. Some like El Centro and the streetwalkers and casas. Some like Tinder or Seeking. I decided to focus on Facebook on my first trip and I have continued using it to find and meet girls on my second trip and now my third trip. I never used FB much prior to going to Medellin so there was a bit of a learning curve but I put in the time and have been learning a lot about meeting girls on FB. It has been very success for me and unlike Seeking, it is free.

Some say not to chat or negotiate with the girls until a week to go. I chat and come to an agreement with girls way before that, but that's just me. I don't schedule them until I am there except for the girl on the first day. They would say that they want to meet me and I say it is possible, it depends on how much you are expecting. Plus the areas around Botero Plaza are plenty dangerous, even in the day. I've never gotten services that way, nor will I as so much could go wrong. But, seeing that you known about the game there, and purport to know the rules, is advance payment the norm upon entering the room? Can someone else chime in?

Also, in virtually any venue it's acceptable to cancel an appointment if the fun hasn't started yet. The girl may ask for some money for her "time" but would typically expect far less than the full fee. But if she wants to make a scene, and it's only 30 mil, would be better to pay her off. Though I'd never have been there to start with. There have been severally occasions where a Chica tried to change up the service as to what would be provided after in the room and I've gotten mad and left without paying the chica.
