Woke up really late this evening from a late afternoon nap as the days touristy adventures are catching up to me. I believe this happen over 2 years ago? This American teaching in Thailand was riding his motorbike and was run down on Beach Road by a truck. The truck and driver just continued and another bystander Farang came to help. He was badly injuried and unconsious and taken to Bangkok/Pattaya hospital but wasn't carrying any I.D. the only thing he had was his cell phone. Now from here it is all speculation and comes from the witness and his family who came to Pattaya to ask for help in this matter? BHP, said they stablized him and since he needed more blood and the BPH didn't have enough they decided to put him in one of those ambulance pickup trucks and take him to Chon Buri county hospital around 30 minutes away he died on the way. Believe what you may? but BPH was accused because they couldn't verify whether he had insurance they shipped him off. The family and those close who did the investigation said the story smelled?
As for the truck and driver, they were track down and a B.S. story was made by the company and driver! The company offer something like 100,000 baht as compensation and nothing was ever said about the driver as to what he had done?

If you look at the Bangkok Group balance sheet you will see they have around 15 or more hospitals, only Pattaya is making massive profit.
My daughter went there with a fever, They kept her in overnight for suspected swine flu. In the morning she was discharged - no swine flu, but 17000bt lighter!

The details you give are basically correct, based on my remembrance of the incident. Actually the guy who runs Thai Tattoo Studio (Pattaya South Road)...I think his name is Simon, tried to help the teacher when he was down on the ground and seriously injured.....I think the truck took off. The teacher worked at a school teaching Thai students and the parents really loved the guy.......the hospital would have been paid. They were accused loudly of what they had done......after a lot of back pedaling, they came up with the story of the extra blood that was needed. The story they came up with makes no sense at all.....transport a critically ill patient instead of using a courier to obtain the blood immediately?......very weak story at least....a blatant lie to most. The hospital they were transporting to is supported by the government. Doctors were accused.....blah, blah, blah....a little "Thai style"......and nothing really resulted.
I myself had a minor injury when I was working on a project near Pattaya. I was transported to this place. In my particular case, the injury was minor.....but the doctor asked me what I wanted him to do!! I told him to clean and close the wound, apply an antiseptic/antibiotic and release me....he confirmed with his assistant and did just this. I healed up.....so no further to report. But......if you are not so lucky to heal up....maybe you end up with a major problem.

I am a fan and patron of Ghana and Kenya and confess a powerful penchant for dark women. Yet I am also keen on slutty sex, squalorous environs and prurience generally. Hence, the appeal of Pattaya.
I have three questions about Pattaya:
1. Among the most compelling features for me of girls in Ghana and Kenya is the nearly universal potential availability of everyday girls you meet in the street and who work in places like beauty parlors and travel bureaus and restaurants and supermarkets. Not to mention the ease of scoring with "regular" girls, often for free (as they presumably are looking for a long-term investment) via internet sites like afrointroductions. You won't score every time but you will score a lot of the time.
Now, keeping in mind the language barrier and the fact that I speak no Thai and for the moment have no intentions of learning, how available are "ordinary" women in Pattaya? How prevalent is English among the non-pro women? How are the social mores concerning striking up libidinal conversations with ostensibly non-working women? Acceptable? Frowned upon? Stupid question?
2. How prevalent are women from the darker-skinned tribes? Are they well represented among the working and ordinary girls?
3. When I was in BKK some years ago I had a wonderful time at the Eden Club. It is not clear after perusing the internet whether this club still exists in Pattaya. Does it?

So I can look for appartments with WiFi, but another option would be mobile internet access.
Are there reliable providers of WiMax/UMTS/HSDPA and if yes, how are the prices, for 1 month or 1 GB traffic ?
