Felinas has a government license to operate as hotel that for all practical purposes functions as a licensed brothel.

It's one of the problems with a forum like this. Most of the people posting here will have very little knowledge of the area. So what gets mentioned is what's easily accessible from adverts & Googling. Maybe 2 or 3% of the available action. Very useful general guidance for visitors to Spain. Visiting Barcelona again in July. Already learned over years of coming here that going trough numerous offers on Nuevoloqo, Slumi, Milanuncios and similar is mostly waste of time. I am guessing that with hostels with private rooms is even easier since big amount of people are coming in and out.

I am aiming towards some budget hotels, around 100€ per night.

You can't really tell what the girl's attitude will be like for you specifically until you have a session with them. It doesn't matter if it's Vecinitas, independents or anywhere. There might be something about you that totally puts them off or makes them really love you, whereas they might have the opposite attitude with someone else.
