Thanks.[/QUOTE]I ended up going with Grande Mecure Bangkok Asoke, around 10 min walk from Soi Cowboy but they have a daily tuk tuk that can take me to terminal 21 at around 4:30 pm daily for free.

One of my buddies was in that area and he stayed at the Dynasty Grande Hotel. He said it had a room with a balcony and a pool, that it was a good hotel to spend the nights and have fun, that it was nice and elegant. You can have a look and see if it convinces you. If not, you can find well known hotels on some internet searcher and I'm sure you can mark the area you are looking for as an option and for it to have a balcony as a prerequisite.

I think I could walk that far. Yes Soi cowboy is just a little further (750 m) but still easy walk in the evening.
This Hotel is a favourite when have specials on. Room with kitchenette can be a very good deal.

Also not far to go to Oily MPs on Soi 22 to 26, or Soi 33. If you don't want to walk, it is very quick motorcycle ride. Not far to get to MRT to visit Soapies on Ratchada, or to go to Silom.
I found equally convenient as Soi 19 Hotels or Soi 16 Hotel.
Obviously not quite so close to Thermae or Nana but not all of us are hooked on Thermae or Nana Plaza. I have not repeated any Thermae girl recently. Haven't managed to hook an exceptional looker that also performed good enough to repeat. I have repeated Nana Plaza and Nana Carpark girls.
I admit I do use ST Hotel in Soi 7/1 from time to time, in addition to one in Soi 21. However if I was staying in Mermaid, I would not need ST Hotel. There is no traffic jam in Mermaid's Soi 29. LOL.
I recall the "Penalty Spot" bar but know nothing about "Scratch Dog".
Phrom Phong and Asok BTS stations are not very far apart, so even Hotel is half way between, I don't find that an issue. So 500m from BTS. 500m is a short walk for me without luggage (relatively unobstructed walk). It is not very deep down the Soi.

Many seem to cater to Japanese clientele tastes: younger ladies, higher prices, less aggressive services. Akane, Dream Heaven and Love Teen come to mind.
Livingstone's Lounge was on Soi 33 and used to be a bit of a focal point for the farang punter scene. Gone for a while now.

My Base in BKK from last few trips. I like the corner suite room with balcony. Room are very clean and well kept. The only weak point I see in this hotel is the breakfast as it is included in the room price. I always have to manage with the egg station, rest of the spread is very thin. Prefer a very heavy breakfast and don't like going out of the hotel till late afternoon hence a pain for me.
However highly recommended for the price.
Scratch dog is a Korean hangout or rather pro East Asian joint. Cheongs tell me that a lot of university girls frequent here and place seems to function on similar lines like thermae albeit costlier. Wanted to visit but never made it on any of my trips.

You could breakfast at Au Bon Pain at mouth of Soi 31. Or choose a hotel specially for the breakfast.

Many girls from Thermae go there if they are striking out at Thermae to party / work.

Greetings![/QUOTE]I have been staying in the Dynasty Grande last fall. It's a nice Hotel, no Problems with girls, and decent room service. I stayed in the Grand Deluxe Room w / o Balcony which is quite spacious, the rooms with Balcony are unfortunately a bit smallish.
I was looking at the Pachara Suites across the road for my upcoming trip, because they have spacious Suites / Studios with Balcony. However I read in some reports on Trip advisor that they charge a Joiners fee of 1000 THB if you bring 2 Guests within a 24-hour period. I wrote an email to Pachara Suites to confirm this a few days ago but they have not answered yet. If they don't answer by tomorrow I will just book Dynasty Grande again.
Has any of you had some experience with the joiner policy at Pachara Suites?

[/QUOTE]Dynasty grand has really great spacious bathrooms, with good shower cubicles (not over bath). Pool is good too. Weakness was the food was very poor standard when I stayed there, for any meals other than a basic breakfast. This view could be out of date if they got a new chef. Suggest eat somewhere else.
Reception girls were rather lovely too.
