[QUOTE=JayWonEm;3013303]After a few months of reading this forum and sitting on the fence, I finally made the decision to come out. I am over 70, in southern Florida, with plenty of short, affordable flights to Colombia, so I needed a shove to get off my ass for an 11 time zone trip. As it happens, I will be in SF for the Dead & Co. Golden Gate shows 8/1-3 with my SA girl, her Spearmint Rhino stripper friend, and more psychedelics than can possibly be healthy for a man my age. I will keep on going to Bangkok, returning in about 3 weeks, with a couple of days in Tokyo in each direction. I put it together as 3 r/t flights (MIA-SFO, SFO-NRT, NRT-BKK), all non-stop, for around $1600 total airfare. When I looked at the logistics, price, and the fact that I was already going to be in SF, I couldn't pass it up. Got to do as much as I can while I still can.
I have a friend here who lived there and has encouraged me to go, and who has offered to set me up with a local contact. We didn't explicitly talk about girls, but I am pretty sure we are on the same page. He suggested an AirBNB as a base of operations, and just take an overnight bag for any side trips (definitely Angor Wat, possibly Pattaya and/or Phuket). I plan on bringing a number of women back over the course of the trip, so would welcome thoughts on AirBNB vs. Hotels. I want something somewhere between "clean and comfortable" and "affordably luxurious".
I think there is more than enough information about hobbying options, pricing, and logistics. I am likely to mix it up between blowjob bars, massage parlors, freelancers, and maybe a go-go girl. I like to repeat if I find a girl I like and get along with, but that is more likely if we can communicate without Google Translate. Can someone give me an estimate of the percentage of girls who speak "transactional" English and the percentage that speak "conversational" English? I'm not looking for Socratic dialogues, but I would like to find a girl I can talk to a little bit at dinner without Google Translate.
I already downloaded the Line app, which apparently is essential for texting. I have the TDAC form and from comparable experience in Colombia I know better than to use any of the "Sponsored" sites which charge you to enter the same information that is on the free form. My phone plan should be fine, I assume I can use ATMs as needed (decline conversion, of course), I have electrical converters, I have downloaded Thai on Google Translate so I can use it offline. Anything other apps or logistical arrangements specific to Thailand?
I am also curious about the recent changes in cannabis regulations. I figured most stores would have a workaround like Nyezhof mentioned, but if anyone has current info I would appreciate it.
Looking forward to some completely new experiences.

On funds. Make sure your bills are crisp and not damaged, 100.00 bills gets a better exchange rate. Do Not Exchange Dollars at the Airport. Expect ATM charges of 220 Baht per transaction, unless your bank specifically refunds these charges. I use AMEX, as the charge per transaction is only 50 Baht.
