This thing is getting deeper and deeper.
The American lawyer had been in the U.S. Military and served in Vietnam and Europe. He was a sports guy who played college basketball and ran marathons. He started a foundation to help Dominican kids pay for college. He bought a million dollar home in the playa chiquito section of Sosua.
Armando the guy who owns classicos, sosua bay hotel and victorian house, wanted to build a casino/convention center supposedly next door to the Victorian House.
The American lawyer who was killed was part of a group that invested 1.8 million with Armando, for Armando to build the casino and convention center.
Supposedly the work never got completed. The casino and convention center were supposed to open in 2007. The American lawyer fought Armando in Court for the last 3 years trying to get his group's 1.8 millions dollar investment back.
For the 1.8 million investment Armando received, he put up the Victorian House as collateral. A Dominican judge determined that the Victorian House would be auctioned off to the highest bidder and the proceeds going to American's group of investors.
The day before the Judge was to set an auction date, the American lawyer was shot 4 times in the bedroom of his home in Sosua. Supposedly the most recent documents regarding the ongoing battle with Armando were missing from his house. Expensive items in her his house including his Lexus motor vehicle, were not stolen.
The guy Armando may be a sociopath. I can remember the youtube video of him, when he was fighting with the Dominican owners of X bar. I knew a guy who used to work at Sosua Bay Hotel and he said Armando and one of his brothers did not like each other and they had to split the family owned business, which included hotels in Sosua and Cabarete. From the Oregon Live article, it states Armando had a business partner with whom he would have fights, where gunshots were fired. Maybe Armando did not kill the American lawyer. But for me, I would not support any business associated with a guy like Armando.
I forgot to add this to my previous message, and most will find it appalling, as I did, bit it is true. I seem to remember a LAW in Germany that pertains to Low income earners, whereas these low income people are entitled to a vacation the same way as a person with a stable decent-earning job. The country gives those people money to take a vacation!!! This makes it even easier to understand why Germans are so well traveled.
Anyway, about your observation with Germans being distant.... Not only do non-Germans feel this way about them, but the Germans also agree they are this way themselves in their own country!!! LOL
It is carry over mentality that is hundreds of years old. Without getting into their history, Germans don't like associating outside their own immediate circles because it imposes commitments that come with the relationships that they rather not put energy into. Those commitments take away their time and use energy in ways which they don't think is "efficient".
In General, the shorter the term of the "value" commitment, the more likely it is you will get shunned. So dont take it personally because the Germans do this quite commonly to themselves too!
Your "statement" is wrong from A - Z
This thing is getting deeper and deeper.
The killed American lawyer had invested in the new casino across from the Sosua Bay Hotel. From reading the articles it appeared that maybe they were planning on building something adjacent to the Victorian House. This link shows how the new casino was supposed to look when it opened in November 2007; http://www.sosuabayresort.com/sosuabay-center.htm
Some members may not appreciate me posting information regarding the murder of an American in Sosua, on this thread. However for me, since Classicos, which is a popular monger hangout for Americans, is owned by a guy who may have tried to defraud a fellow American and quite possibly may have had something to with the American's murder, it might be useful information, so that mongers may decide to spend their money in other bars in Sosua and not stay at the Sosua Bay Hotel.

Very interesting and different start to Sosua chica chasing. I like many guys had finalized my divorce, realized I wasn't getting any younger and just decided to do something different. I always loved women so buying pussy was no big deal to me. I searched online and found a place in Florida you just show up, pay and they give you ladies to enjoy, hotel, food, the whole nine yards. Me being the cheap dude I am kept searching cuz they wanted way too much money.
I found a costa rica tica online message board. Did my research and off to Costa Rica I went. When I got back someone on the message board mentioned the Dominican Republic and Sosua. I took a chance and gave Sosua a try....................rest is history
Sosua has ruined a lot of good upstanding citizens...............hahahahaha
My first trip to Sosua was in 06. My dad and his brothers/buddies had been going to BB for years. Before 06 I didn't even know where the Dominican Republic was. My first trip was to BB and I loved it.
My Dad was doing a Grand opening for the biz in Cabarette. He was dissappointed because I hadn't taken an interest in the biz. We had a falling out, my credit card was shut down because I rented a car, and I had to much pride to ask anybody for anything.
After the grand opening everybody went to Classicos, my cousin and I had these two cuties. Its 3am we got girls and liquor and I'm ready to party. My cousin wants to go play in the ocean(at 3am)with these girls. I said fuck this and took the liquor and went to my room solo. An hour later one of the girls knocks on my door saying for a hundred dollars I can have her. I was broke, but said I was tired.
Well I'm eating breakfast and my cousin comes down with both chicks smiling. Everybody is looking at me like "WTF'. Everybody started ripping me, and I ripped back. We almost had a family riot at that breakfast table. I walked away, and went to Sosua and they didn't hear from me for months. Everybody eventually reconciled, but I was hooked on Sosua.
Suffice it to say that I find it appalling that you find it appalling. Or as my Haitian favorita once noted: "The poor do not get a vacation. They work 16 h a day. " In Germany, even the poor get a break.
Your other observations about the German psyche are just folklore. I am German. I am American. Two passports. And you do not have a clue.
the police arrested a foreigner there, not armando or anyone connected to the bar. it had something to do with a woman, he is already out.
i read on another board, that the police took armando's computer and confirep001ed some of his guns. as a person on another board stated, the police usually do not show up with 12 or more officers for some petty crime involving a woman.
appears to me, the raid they carried out at classicos was part of the investigation into the murder of the american lawyer in sosua.

It's important
As last I checked this is a discussion board. To say "one does not have a clue" or "they are wrong from A-Z", without trying to validate your point is pointless. Please feel free to expand on your views on this topic. The only problem will be if we get away from the Sosua topic others will complain. But a brief reflection of your feelings is appreciated.
Jaososua, this is Sosua information regarding the topic of"murdered attorney in Sosua", it is relevant. The sad part is, that if this guy was a normal 'JOE" it would'nt be a topic. But this guy was an attorney, Business man, well educated, well respected, and American. This will vibrate all the way to President Lionel. The message must be recieved that non Dominicans can not be murdered without justice.
The subject of sex in Sosua has not been discussed recently. But recent events require dialog. There are major recent developments that affect ALL mongerers in Sosua. To be honest, this board regarding sex and adventure info has been reduced to five guys(J, Bq, CJ, Ch, SP,). So if your not a regular information provider, don't feel free to make a cameo appearance to critize and run away. Stand tall, make your point, and respect other peoples opinions. Respectfully yours GoGo.

Well let me clue you in on something. It maybe folklore for some but they are hard opinions for other Germans. When all Germans get together and feel the same way about it your opinion might carry more weight. My impressions came from MULTIPLE people living there their whole life, not just part time. I just absorbed the information and passed it along. If you don't like what I passed along... then tough tiddlywinks.
Sorry though about my remarks about vacation and the use of the word "appalling". Shocking is probably a better word to use as I never thought I would ever learn of such a system. (not to mean that a low earner does not deserve a vacation)
Oh... and by the way... Since your the one who HAS a clue, why don't you provide your perspective as to why many accuse the Germans as being so despondent to strangers? Or, is it not acceptable for somebody with only half status to be qualified enough to give such an opinion?
I stand buy everything I wrote. These impressions came from MULTIPLE people living there their whole life. I just absorbed them and passed them along. If you don't like what I passed along... then tough tiddlywinks.
When I traveled through Europe there were stereotypes about every country, and even within countries there were stereotypes. When I was in my Milan, the Italians in Milan, would say the southern part of the country including Rome was corrupt. When I was in Rome, Italians in Rome would say people in Naples were thieves (the best chicas with the worst brothers, as some of my Roman friends would say about Naples).
The British had the get drunk and get rowdy stereotype. Germans were seen as being cold.
French people as being snooty, which I kind of agree with. I hung out with people from just about every country in Europe, except people from France. The French people I came across were never very friendly to me. I met people from many European countries and they would invite me to stay in their homes, even though they had just met me (as well as the University chicas).

I am English and I have generally found Germans to be sociable and helpful, whether in my country, their country (where I lived for a year) or a third country such as the DR. I have also found that even those doing quite menial jobs often speak good or excellent English.
Not surprising really as, despite having fought two major wars within the last hundred years, the two nations (with the Dutch) are racially, linguistically and culturally very close.
One area I would except from this is the older generation in the Catholic and rural South where people used to be more cut off from the rest of the World and were suspicious of foreigners and non-Catholics, though this has also changed in modern times.

True the subject of sex in Sosua has been side tracked a bit but you can't talk about pussy 24/7. You need to take time out to throw some shoes around. LOL You should have never told me that cuz I am gonna tease you to no end (simply cause I know you a man and can take the punches).
It would be nice to see some other guys jump in and speak their mind. One good thing about the DR forums guys don't get attacked if their view is different. I always click the pictures to see how many views they have. Amazing, a photo can have over one hundred views and no one can post any type of comment. Come on guys, if you don't like the pic at least post she one ugly ***** and post something better.
Although not a Sosua traveler I read this forum daily as there is always something new to learn. I have quite a few trips to rep dom under my belt but I still learn from newbies.
