Truly sorry to hear this story, Jao. Just thinking, would it be better off if you just used a Taxi instead of driving a rental car. Is it cost prohibitive? Sure you could work it out since you are so familiar with the place.
I have driven little bit in DR and since I blend in well and can pass for a Dominincan, haven't had any issues. So far. But again if something does happen I could be in deep shit as I speak almost no espanol and don't carry a cell phone when I am there.
I have been in the Dominican Republic 40 or 50 times and have been all over the country and have never been hassled by police at any time for being white. But then I have never rented a car and only rented a scooter a couple of times. Perhaps the solution is to go on foot.

Anyways, thank you for the encouragement. I too always felt comfortable and never so far threatened in the DR, nor any other mongering destination I've been to. The closest call I've ever had was with brothers in Chicagoland many many years ago. Was mugged at knife point after picking up a young hottie by Cicero (it was a setup). I was jumped in my car as she was fooling around after taking me to a secluded industrial area, never read the warning signs. Live and learn if you are lucky enuf to survive.
It is always a pleasure for me to meet up with other ISG members. I love hearing stories about other monger destinations, that I have never been to. This past trip I met up with Sabor, Gagoo and Carrib. Sabor told me great stories about Panama. Gagoo told me about Thailand and the Philippines. Carrib is a great guy, who I only got to hang out with for a short time.
Jaosousa, you should come and visit Spain. I know brothels in Madrid which have over 70+ girls present. In every brothel you will find your fair share of latinas (Dom. Rep, Colombia, Brazil, Cuba.) white girls from eastern europe (Russia, Bulgaria, Czech. Rep.) and of course black girls from Nigeria, Kenya. There is good times to be had.
Spain is definately worth a visit.
There is corruption in the Dominican Republic and many other countries.
It is more accurate to say that corruption is one of the biggest problems in this country as is the PN.
Can someone tell me: about how many hours does the Caribe Tours bus from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata?
Actually, any place established for the explicit use of selling sex is illegal. That includes Massages, Casas, Hotels etc. As Translated to me by a lieutenant in the Policia Nacional.
Jao,
Next time I plan a trip to Manizales I will let you know and if you come with me I will hook you up with some sweet Manizalitas and you will NEVER look back, trust me. Eight universities in one small city, do the math.
Sounds excellent.
Manizales is south of Medellin and west of Bogota, near two National Parks.

If I do return to Santo Domingo, I probably wouldn't rent a car again. I do like the freedom that having a car gives me, to drive to different cities, the beach or a restaurant at night to eat. A rental car is clean, air conditioned and I can have my music on CD playing in the car.
One week car rental for a compact car is about $325 (which includes glass and tire insurance; 3rd party liability). Gas I was told costs about $6US per gallon. To fill up the tank on on the compact car was about $90US.
That's because Manizales is in Colombia.
Haha. Well that would explain it then. But I've heard people try hard to get Jao out of the DR and go to Colombia with no luck.

Lots of shapes, sizes and different skin colors for chicas in DR. Big ass, big tits, thin, tall and short, you can find it in DR.

Thanks for the post.
I always thought about staying at the Hotel Clarion. Has a pool and supposedly a free membership to the body shop athletic gym, which also has a pool and could be a spot to meet some Dominicanas, while they work out.
Before my last trip I had a few friends in Santo Domingo call various hotels and ask them about their guest policy. For the Clarion one friend was told, that no guests would be allowed to visit the room and no guests could use the pool. For the barcelo, my friends were told, no problem having guests visit the rooms and the pool.
The rules seem to be nebulous in regards to whether guests can visit your room at various hotels. If a person is going to book at a certain large hotel in Santo Domingo, it might not be a bad idea to get try and get the hotel to put their guest policy in writing. It might be interesting to see how various hotels would respond to putting their visiting guests policy in writing.
Well I was in Santo Doming last weekend got in town on the 9-16-11 to 9-19-11 which was sort of a last minute trip I was not plaining on being in SD until late Oct.
But some friends wanted to go just for a weekend trip and since prices were not bad I said ok. Since one of my pals was going to meet a chica from last trip and I was going to get with.
Her friend he booked sat and Sunday at the Clarion which I was somewhat worried about since I had not seen or heard anyone talking about their chica policy in
Regards to multiple chicas, but I will get to that later. The first night we decide it was going to be a night on the town and we stayed at Jaguar and the orginal plan was
To call some previous chicas that we dealt with, but that change when we decide to go walking around and went into the casas we went into two. The first one was sky high or the first one that you get to after you past the mystik hotel and the water place which I am sure is sky high well anyway I had been to this one before and like before I was pleased with the quality and so were my buddies. We just went in there for a drink and just to look and one of my buddies got a lap dance or something which he was happy with.
So we left out although there were a few chicas I really wanted to hit, but since I have been to SD a few times now I know I do not have to pay that price although it was very tempting. So we went out and of course we were immediately swarmed by runners with their suggestion, but we decided to give one guy a try he wanted us look at lapsus and of course we really did not need him for that info I had seen this place before, but never went in but we said what the hell lets go check it out. We went in and I was surprised they had some quality and the girls were more aggressive here than at sky high, but not in a bad way and maybe a better word is more assertive. Well anyway everyone came close to taking a girl out, but the saving grace was we only brought enough cash for food and drinks when we went walking so that actual turned out well IMO because we had a great time at the casas, but at the same time did not overpay for some action. You know its like once you have left the place you are mostly likely not going to go back once you had time to think about and say oh I do not have to pay that and call some chicas to do the same thing at lower price and longer which is what we did so that night turned out well.
Well the next day we checked in at the Clarion and It is a very good hotel and you can tell you are in a more affluent area by just the cars you see and the roads are cleaner. Well guys this hotel is chica friendly with some guidelines When we checked in my chica was not coming until a little later, but all that was really important was that I was booked for 2 persons in room. I went to get something to eat at a nearby strip mall and told my chica to have taxi drop her there which is walking distance to hotel so she came there we ate and went back to hotel well we walk straight in and went to elevator and no one ask us anything or imo was paying attention. When we were checking in I notice one guy came in with a hot chica and went straight to hotel well later that day we were just hanging in the lobby and that same guy came by the desk with a different chica and just walked right by and went to his room which was on my floor and look to see would anyone at the front desk say anything and they did not if they even looked up.
Well the next day there was more I saw one real gorgeous chica (a real head turner) come down out of the elevator and wait in the lobby and wait on her ride when it came it was a medium size suv and she got in and at the time I really thought nothing of it. Well I saw another head turner later on and she did the same thing and that same suv came to pick her up and now I really starting to think what is up with this because its obvious these girls are not staying at the hotel. Well later that night I saw another girl this time she was coming in and going up to a room and no one at the front desk asked her anything so of course I need to find out what is going on here.
Well later on I found out that those 3 girls that were getting out of that suv were not dominicans one was from Argentina and they are somewhat high priced at least for over there in the range of 4, 500 pesos and up and that there is some kind of list that guys pick from and the hotel has full knowledge of it. Well this hotel is chica friendly regardless if you use those girls or not and I was told its better to book for 2 people, but if you want to see more than one chica than its better not to register any chica and just walk right by with your chica like you belong there and just go to your room. Now I do not think this means multiple chicas in the room with you at the same time, but it does mean you are not stuck with one chica. I was also told that when you bring chicas it would be best for them to be dressed down meaning no obvious call girl attire to this I must say is true all those chicas were looking good no doubt, but none were in very short mini skirts or anything like that they were in jeans tight ones at that but nothing that other women do not wear. The guys that were coming in with their chicas none of then as I recalled had anything on that could be called racy and I basically was told if you keep it low profile you would have no problem at this hotel.
As far as the hotel itself it is great the rooms are big and clean and the breakfast is good and I got out to a different part of SD and I also went to the acropils mall and hooters and there seem to be some other bars to go to which I might on another visit.
In the spot
In SD as I speak. Spending time fighting with my Novia half the time. I have an apartment on calle Hincalda. 3 blocks from
Action. I picked up a SW at a open air restaurant. Walked back to the appartment and went to work chica \was a hard worker and gave me my monies worth. Chica wanted tln but I was happy with our 2 hour. Prices are not bad 1500 will get you good and fucked. I am in the colonial zoneclose to ave George wash. Nice inside one bedroom with a go to guy who will jump through hoops for propinas. Once I got use to the area I loved it. The area has residents and shops next to each other. 80 bucks a day was not bad. Appartment had everything I needed.
