Bogota vs. Medellin?
So I've been in Bogota for a couple of months, and I was considering coming over to Medellin. Only thing that's made me aprehensive is that there's so many posts here and in the Cartagena section complaining about safety or pricing or something or the other. Meanwhile, there's very little of that in the Bogota section. I know a lot of you guys strictly prefer Medellin over Bogota for mongering, so can you describe which parts are better? Are the girls hotter? The clubs better? Things closer together? I'm considering coming over to check out Fase Dos and La Isla so anything describing the differences would be great.
Also, in another post Nil mentioned the going rate at those clubs is 300 k for 45 minutes. Is there another rate for a shorter time?

Centro Rat Observations
The life of the Centro rat is more expensive since the Botero Plaza barrier went up. As reported by the Head Rat In Charge, Surfer, girls are routinely asking 40 K. Some of them asked for that much and more for some time now. The difference since the barrier went up is it's now more work than I am willing to do to get dates for 30 K. We've settled on 35 K with minimal push back. So no big deal, it's only another 5 K. The hotels that used to charge 8 K are now getting 10 K. I should not complain because yesterday a girl told me the short time hotel she uses with gringos in Poblado costs 150 K. I did not ask the name of the hotel because well, you know, I am a Centro rat.
Thanks for designating me as the "Head Rat In Charge", but I really haven't been frequenting Centro as much as I used to, but did spend several days a few weeks back sampling the wares, and yes pricing has gone up, but I don't see it as a function of the barriers as you note as the pricing has been climbing for awhile now before the barricades.
Some of my regulars' who live in Menrique, and other strata one barrios are telling me how much things have gone up here for everything, no different than all over the world.
As an example, one of my regulars told me that where she lives, people are seeing their electric / water bills doubling, in some instances going from like 45 K to 90 K, and they don't have water heaters or natural gas where they live in Menrique. And an additional $ 10 USD for a utility bill may seem like chump change to some here, but not for those living in a Strata 1 barrio, that's easily a days pay or more.
Yet, you can still find fresh faces showing up in Centro who are not beauty queens, and Colombians, who will still quote 30 K, but not many.
The Venezuelans are another matter though, and much more on top of asking for a lot, especially from gringos, and those with no experience in Centro and limited Spanish speaking skills.
It must be really pressing on you to have to fork out another 5 K to 10 K for a rato in Centro, and I hope you don't have to take on a second job, or take out a second mortgage to finance your extracurricular activities in Centro as it is getting so pricey. LOL.

That Extra 10 k
The life of the Centro rat is more expensive since the Botero Plaza barrier went up. As reported by the Head Rat In Charge, Surfer, girls are routinely asking 40 K. Now for Centro rats, that may be a big deal depending on your budget. But I would say that for most mongers coming for a short trip, after spending money for airfare and hotels, that extra $2 per day or perhaps $4 per day for 2 days will not break the bank. Still, I understand the concerns about prices rising but there is thing called inflation and at some point, what you paid in the past will go up and you can't expect the same price for years and years or even from one year to another.

This sort of mess spiked up in recent months in Medellin. Unfortunately, it's also a thing worldwide. Just this week in New York there was an arrest in the case of a guy who turned up dead after leaving a gay bar in Hell's Kitchen. The suspect is being investigated in connection with several other similar cases.
"At least 41 people have been victims of drug-related robberies already in Medellin in 2023, according to Colombian news outlet Caracol Noticias, although it's unclear how many were related to dating apps."
It's scary how prevalent this scam is killing people. 41 people this year alone, (that they know reported the drugging / robbery), probably more than 41 now. Be safe fellas!
If you must use tinder, never ever drink or eat with a tinder date. Always be up front before meeting that you "do not drink at all". If there still willing to meet, make it a priority to go to a short time love motel. It's also a good idea to snap a pic of your tinder date.
Again, stay safe!

Don't mean to brag, and I know someone will say I am but I couldn't resist commenting to your reply LOL. But for my upcoming trip to Colombia, I'm having toda la semana with what is a 10 in my eyes from a girl from HK and she's agreed to not charge me anything. I'm only paying for her food and flight. Point is one can always do better.
Hey A2023. We friends from Tijuana board.
Are you bringing her from Tijuana down to Medallo?

There has been at times fluctuations in pricing since before the Pandemic starting about five years ago with the onslaught of Venezuelans arriving who where undercutting their Colombian counterparts pricing wise. Many of them so desperate they would easily go for 20 K and / or do anything a guy would want for a small upcharge. I remember one Venezuelan telling me it was like 5 K more to go uncovered but I passed.
And during the height of the Pandemic when Colombia was basically closed to the world, it was a total buyers market for those here. And then all the SEA guys and other foreign mongers from around the world started showing up when basically the majority of mongering destinations around the world were basically closed.
So not only is it inflation that has caused pricing increases, but also as a result of all the new foreign mongers arriving here, and as you have noted, it's so inexpensive here, that haggling over "chump change" just doesn't happen for the reasons you noted.

I suppose should mention the Centro casas that used to be 45 K to 55 K are now 60 K to 65 K. As you noted, the extra little bit doesn't even matter to the locals really. The exchange rate at 4500 vs. The low 4,000's where it was a couple of years ago more than makes up the difference for anyone with foreign holdings.

Just a much more pleasant place to spend a week or two.

High class casas?
I have to post quick.
Where are the high class casas in Medellin?
I'm out on Tinder. Bringing chicas to your room is grossly overrated.
The Casas are what's up.
Please assist and if they are truly in El Centro then I'm cool with it.

I say good for you

Scopaline is an anomaly

I'm not so sure that I'm really interested in ladies coming to my room anyway.
It's a real mystery of the universe where the high end Casas are. I've asked experienced Mongers that I know like me, and even then there is reluctance.
I have my own theory on that. But still there has to be a legit place better than New Life?

Ahhh

Bogota does rate worse on crime indices when I compare to Medellin, but unfortunately there's no way to filter down to tourist zones. Or how crime against tourists compares (one thing I'm not really that worried about in Bogota). Kind of disappointing to hear that mongering is worse. Aren't Fase Dos and La Island supposed to be really good? Here in Bogota I basically only like one club called Fiebre (the northern clubs are nice but it's like 40 girls and 5 guys which for me is just weird).

The next level is Fantasias Energy, or just Energy. It's in Laureles just west of the stadium, El estadio. It will also show up on a Google map search. Go up the stairs to the brown door just to the right of the Bancolombia ATM.
