I should say, security risks are medium low in the day time in most parts of Tijuana.. Don't walk alone into dark alleys where cholos, vagrants, drug addicts and dealers hang out. They would be tempted to make easy victims out of you.

La Zona in Tijuana is definitely much safer and tamer than all parts of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Foz du Iquacu, Recife and most parts of Brazil. Even during daytime in ritzy and busy Rio neighborhoods like Copacabana Beach, Ipanema, Centro, Tujunga ect. If you walk across a bunch of cholos, they are likely to put knives on your throat and rob you clean.

With large number of armed cop patrols on foot, motos and trucks day and night, La Zona is definitely safer than most cities in North, Central and South America. Downtown and South Central LOS Angeles have far more armed and violent criminals with much fewer real cops than Tijuana. If you know how to survive and get what you want those urban areas, then you should have no big problems in Tijuana.

They must have ran away when I was climbing and crashing over the fence. Damn. I owe the taxi brother that night a debt of gratitude. I had to call a close friend dead asleep to come out and pick us up at 3 AM. He was pissed.

The moral is, you can use all your smart and take all precaution to avoid being victimized. But the risks are always there with a probability. It will catch up with every one of us sooner or later. We should in every situation, think and act prudently to reduce that probability.

The ED savings at Piri Pharmacy may be only a few bucks, not worth the extra walk. Besides there are very few people and not much to see in that area. The newbies are much safer buying ED at the many Pharmacies near the Arc, or 1 block South on Calle 2 near the MC Donalds.

How do I know? I don't. Truly I do not. I was in HK at 2 pm Sunday and it was a ghost house. I have been there many other years week after new years and it was rocking.
