About 10 years and a little bit more seedy than Stadium. It seems to be popular now- at least going by what I read on jakarta 100 bars. It rates it quite high and marks it as "one of the safe places to go, if you don't know the city". Well, as you may read in the comment section of the blog, below, about it's security and safety, I much doubt all will agree with that.

Having explored pretty much the entire town now and felt like I missed out by not going to Crown, I decided to take a look and see what the fuss is about. To sum up this report, I was very dissappointed.

Headed to Glodok on Saturday night around 11 PM. The taxi I hailed knew where Crown was immediately, so it seems to be well-known around town. In the third floor or so after I took the elevator there was a security check. They are really strict and made me take off my belt. In addition, they wouldn't let me in with my footwear as they thought it was too shallow. Had to rent a a worn-out pair of shoes which they saw fit for 30, 000 IDR. Totally different from Stadium, where nobody even bothers checking anything.

Paid my ticket which I can't remember how much but it included a free beer.

Anyway, it's just a normal disco where the classy locals hang out, most of them Chinese-Indos. There is a lounge area with live band also but it's definitely for groups only. It seems overall at Crown that it's just groups of people hanging out together. I made contact with a few spinners (nearly all of them were occupied with their handphones) at the entrance of the disco area and from what we were able to communicate with they made it clear they were not hookers or anything, just waiting for friends. Maybe it's because I looked like a local to them but these girls wouldn't even open up for casual conversation with my limited Bahasa, which is different from Stadium where I did manage to strike up conversation with several girls at ease and even took a freebie home once.

Oh, and they have this weird way of ordering drinks through a computer. I couldn't figure it out.

German drugged, robbed at C. Jakarta bar.

JAKARTA: German national Bobby Johnson. 35, says he was robbed after he was sedated by two men he just met at a bar on Saturday.

According to Johnson's statement to the Jakarta Police, the robbers were unidentified French men whom he met at a bar in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, as reported by kompas. Com on Tuesday.

Johnson said the culprits stole his iPhone; a Hamilton watch; about US$150 in Euros; Singapore dollars and rupiah; and four credit cards. It is unclear whether the culprits used his credit cards to make fraudulent transactions.

He also reported that $5, 580 was withdrawn from his DBS bank account from an ATM at the lobby of a hotel in Central Jakarta.

According to the police report, Johnson was at the bar engaged in small talk with the men, who offered him an orange juice when he was about to leave.

Johnson then said he lost consciousness after consuming the beverage.

The men then reportedly asked a taxi driver to take Johnson to a hotel in South Jakarta where he was staying, telling the driver that Johnson was drunk.

Johnson regained consciousness on Sunday night only to find that his belongings were gone.
