I've been in Sg for about 10 years now and yes, many things have changed. In fact sex was more open 10 years ago than it is now. Sw's on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (near downtown) are very few now compared to about 5 years ago. Police checks are so common now that most have split up to different areas of HCMC. The airport area use to have many SW's but now most girls have to be called out by the mamasan standing on the street corner. Use to be much more fun!!!!!!!!!! Not to worry though, if you go to the round-about at the end of Ly Van Sy street (near airport), they will find you.

Saigon Saigon is not the best place. Generally much higher prices and low quality (older ladies). This is because Saigon Saigon is on top of the five star Caravelle Hotel. It is assumed that anyone who goes there has money to spend. To tell you the truth, these older ladies (many of them less than a 5) get away with charging higher prices because they can speak some English. It is easier to pick up someone who you can converse with. On the other hand, the younger ones (most young ones from the provinces) do not speak any English at all. A 30 yr old has much more exposure, (thus can speak English) as opposed to a fresh 18 yr old who has just come to HCM looking for work. In otherwords, the ones you find in Saigon Saigon Bar have been around for a long long time. Thats how many of them learn English. Not fresh at all!

Thus , this is what separates the local bars from expat bars. If you have a local friend, have him take you to some local places. If you want high quality at a reasonable price, stay away from expat bars. If you have no where to turn you can always try this bar called "Safari" on Pham Ngu Lao St. This is sort of a 1/2 expat 1/2 local bar. Prices are cheaper than Saigon Saigon at about 500,000vnd. Still 500k is double what locals would pay for the same quality. Note if you are not asian and do not speak any VN, 500k is the going rate. Go to Safari at about 1am as this is when the crowd comes in. They are open until 4am. Most girls here speak some English but not all.

I know this might not interest many but for some of you out there a real massage is welcome after a long day (or night). There are some hj places that do offer a good body rub but nothing compares to this place on Tran Hung Dao St near the corner of Nguyen Tri Phuong. Another good one is on Ly Van Sy St. I can't remember the exact name, but its something "Anh" its in an area where lots of clothing stores are. They usually hang over the bar in Saigon Saigon but the quality is often questionable albeit that english is the lingua franca. Better to head off to Apocalypse Now and then off to Va Mu Lao (forgive the atrocious spelling). If you have not hit in Apocalypse you will find many of them head over to the backpacker part of town for the late night - you may also find some on moto's cruising you as you head across town.

Near the new world is a hotel where they not only are happy to accept the girls but if you are short of cash will charge the total to the hotel bill and hence your credit card. A lovely situation if there ever was one - mind you explaining why you had two nights in the same city could be a bit of a push.

I've observed a new hot area going the other way on Nguen Thi Minh Khai, going past the reunification park. If you go slowly at night, they will pop out of the side streets with their pimps.

That seems right. The street that runs perpendicular to the one which Reunification is on. Street walkers are all at that intersection as late as 2 am when I drove by. I didnt stop but they seem nice. Next time I will stop when I get the chance. Wish I was over there right now. I hate work.

Yes, between the Zoo and Dien Bien Phu (which turns into highway 1A) is the street Xo Viet Nghia Thinh. This is the new area. I've noticed activity for about a year now. The area you were refering to near the Palace is actually the original sw area. They have been there for ages. Some people think its new because the police in the past have been causing some trouble for the Sw's there. They have only come back recently. Anyway, if you have a chance, check out the XVNT area. Lots of girls on newer style motorbikes. They hang around near the bridge and by the Mitsubishi Car Dealership. Try to go on motorbike as this street can be quite busy.
