Exit Customs Hall, in Airport Entrance, turn left, there are a couple of banks, money changer and 2 or 3 ATM's.
Alternatively buy some Pesos at your Departure Airport.

Of course I'm still here in AC. I'm more than likely going to be going to Biliran Island the end of next month. If anyone wants join and or meet let me know. If just myself I will probably do it the laziest way possible. But if somebody wants to join I might get a little adventurous. I lived there in Biliran for a year recently. Right now I'm thinking of going via Clark to Cebu then ferry to Naval, Biliran. This would also benifit anyone wanting to see Leyte and or Cebu. At this time I don't plan on even spending the night in Cebu.

M1, sounds like a great trip and wish I could hook up with you. I probably won't make it back to the Philippines until mid July.
I had a CB sweety named Sheena invite me to Naval, Biliran. At the time (I was in Ormoc) I had no idea where she was. Duh.
If I had it all to do again, I would have walked out of my hotel and gotten on the bus. Maybe 4/5 hours from Ormoc to Naval, but looks like a trip worth doing. I'd love to do Tacloban too. Wow, too many locations, too many women.

M1,
I've been to Biliran a few times to see the main honey's family. It seems to me that potential hits are everywhere. But of course, I was well 'guarded' by the family so I had no opportunity to explore on my own.
I'm curious to hear about any mongering opportunities on that beautiful island. Anything to share?

check to see if TA give you the option of purchasing a 'flexi' ticket. It will be slightly more expensive than the non-changeable supersaver but should still work out cheaper than buying just prior to departure

i reckon the banks will be closed but you can certainly use the ATM's........turn left once you clear the backage checkers
I did RTFF and there has been a sugestion that you should buy a taxi ticket just outside of customs as the gullible tourist will get ripped off by the non meter taxis etc.
Can I get some other info on those taxi tickets, please.

wizard[/QUOTE]My experience is you have to have the ticket to get a taxi at the airport. Not this way in the rest of the city but it seems the only way at the airport?

The easiest and safest way to do it -IMHO
Exit Airport, bear left and cros road to Black/White sign - AIRPORT TAXI
See the guy there, tell him where you are going, agree price (I paid 350 to Burgos Area). Go into kiosk, pay and get receipt.
Get into nice new Aircon MPV (alone, no sharing) watch them load your baggage then enjoy the ride to your hotel.
Was I ripped off at 350 PHP (less than $9) for the 30 min ride through the awful traffic - I dont think so. I tipped the driver a further 100 as I was entirely satisfied with the service given.
There may be other ways or ideas, but it worked for me and I will be doing it that way every time from now on.

Flew in a few days ago and noticed a new taxi line of yellow metered cabs outside of customs. Decided to try one out and was given a slip with the drivers information. It was only 120 to Ermita in a brand new Toyota.

Naval, Biliran has a red light district. It's called the D and C, it's on the way to the hospital. Small little shadows type bars and disco. Prices are around p1,500 or so.

I'm a rookie to the phils but have mongered in amsterdam, berlin, tijuana and sf. I will be very guarded this trip and I will have alot of trouble getting out at night. I've researched the forums endlessly here. What would a standard short time daytime rate be at LA cafe? Are there any BJ bars in the southern manila area?
I was recently seriously considering a trip to Rio, in October, over PI. For several reasons, I have decided against it and am coming back to a place that has provided me some WONDERFUL Memories! Still want to go to Rio, but I will just postpone that to a more convenient time.
If anyone is going to be in AC from Oct 9 - 15, hit me up and we'll get together over a beer (or two).

Or as suggested use the ATM either way. You can also get a few thousand pesos in Hong Kong/Taiwan/where ever your layover is. They have international money changers also.
You'll get the best rate from an ATM though :)
