Poblado and Laureles for the weekend warriors, plus Sabaneta and Envigado for longer term residents get by far the most gringo demand. The rest of the city is not as of much interest to foreigners. The pace of construction in gringo areas is definitely not keeping up with the recent demand so prices will continue to rise in those areas until either the demand slows or the pace of construction picks up.

Dream on. The digital nomad visa will change nothing. Most of the digital nomads that are here do just fine without it.

In a city of over 4 million.[/QUOTE]Facts, the GPD of tourism in Colombia in general is like less then 3%. There might be an uptick but it is NOT going to be like disneyland numbers or anything like that.

The big factor is the language for sure. If there is a big push for education and english here I can see something but that would also mean more economic jobs here which is not happening anytime soon.

There are maybe going to be an extra 500 dudes here a year and that's about it.

When the real estate market is booming, it will not be limited in one single area.

Just reading reports here one should know the price is changing. Remember an experienced poster was asked to pay way more money than usual in the more expensive centro club. I think there is a reason they asked for the high price. It is because by luck some other guys, likely new paid it. And in this case, the girl was also successful. This is not limited in just one club. Basically there are guys think it is so cheap and very happy to pay despite overpaying.

Many girls basically want to have a gringo boyfriend to take care of them. It does not matter if it is seeking or facebook. Just reading reports here you know people are paying for SB, and sometime more than one and he is not even in Medellin.

I have been in Medellin for a few days now and it feels about the same. I am staying in Laureles now so far the food has been great. There are definitely a lot of wonderful places to eat in Laureles. Later this week I'm going to move to Poblado for the last part of my trip. This is my fourth trip so I'm starting to get the hang of things. In my previous trips I used Facebook exclusively and this trip is no different. There are more than enough options on Facebook so far things have been going very well for the most part. There is still time for me to be drugged and robbed but so far everything is fine.

This is your main competition, the girls are demanding to be paid by the hour and some guys willing to throw the ask price cash at them. We Work sites, hostels and cyber cafes. Already they include travel bloggers / adventurers, eco tourism people, investment bloggers and well. I predict tourism will grow exponentially. Like a skyrocket! It's not their income that will increase prices but who they reach. They are MEGA influencers. I doubt many will want to visit El Centro so not too much to worry about here. They will hit the malls, take tours, eat out, fill up hotels. Might be hard to get an uber on the weekends. LOL Best to move to Bogota before it's also discovered.

But tourism overall is nowhere near what it was pre-Covid, it is recovering but not there yet. I'm in a hotel that would have been full pre-covid. And I can see two other larger hotels next door essentially. Occupancy is probably 10%. So the tourism numbers have a ways to go. And the digital nomad guys, yep, I talk to lots of them. None of them are even looking at the digital nomad visa. And they are not in the tens of thousands, and are not affecting much of anything other than the market for furnished rentals in possibly a couple of areas, although again, with tourism not back fully yet that is not much of an issue.

Cost inflation and inflation in general is an issue, but I don't think the mongers or digital nomads or even tourism has much or anything to do with that. It is more of the same that has happened and is happening in the rest of the world.

And as far as mega influencers and all of that. Who knows. If they influence tourism they may become a factor in bringing back tourism. There are a lot of backpackers and younger tourists in general, although again, not back to pre pandemic levels.

Just wanted to ask what are some potential spots I can pick up a girl at that's relatively safe to go to. I had planned to meet a girl I talked to for a couple years (long story) but she flaked on me, luckily I have another girl I'm supposed to meet but she's on vacation at the beach and won't be back in Medellin till next week. I really need to get me nice few girls while I wait but the problem is I'm staying south of Laureles I believe the area is called Rosales. Do you guys happen to know of any spots nearby to pick up a girl or would I have to go to Poblado to get some action? I'm trying to take it slow since its my first time in Colombia and I'm solo so I want to be as safe as possible yet I'm still willing to risk it a bit just to get some Colombian action.
