Tiger Airlines BKK-Clark
Has anyone tried the Tiger airlines flight on the BKK. Clark route? And know whether they have the same return flight hassles as Cebu Pacific?
In response to earlier comments, I'm 99% sure airline check in staff don't have access to other airlines passenger lists (They may have limited access to those of
Other airlines within an international grouping such as One World, Star Alliance etc, even if they share the same reservation system.) Therefore, if you plan on "faking it" I think choose an onward flight on an airline without an office at your outward airport.
The check in staff at least Cebu Pacific are supposed to satisfy themselves that you have an onward / return flight and enter a flight number / date into their system.
Whether they accept your word that you are on a particular onward flight or require documentary proof / checks with the relevant airline is I think a matter for their discretion.
In my experience, they are satisfied as long as they have something to write in the box for onward ticket but as WR says rules seem to be tightening all the time.

And Atleast one Immigration in the region has started to scan the return ticket and are trained to identify the difference between the itinerary and actual ticket
Even then, they can't validate the ticket, unless they call the airline. So they just make sure when the person goes for a extension of visa or when they depart, they check if the ticket numbers match, and if they don't match, they either refuse the extension. Or note the passport, and when the person returns, he / she gets a denied entry.
Singapore is a bit different as a lot of people come here (read. Women) using the ASEAN visa privilege. To make $$$$$$$$$

Cebu Pacific would not even except viewing my itinerary on my tablet, it had to be a hard copy, luckily I had a hard copy.
For some of us who have been here for a long time it has way more pluses than minuses.
LOL. I've been here a long time Red and I've been racking my brain for all these pluses to measure against the minuses. It may be just me but I keep coming up with lovely women and cheap beer, or should that be cheap women and lovely beer? Oh, and English is more or less universally spoken and understood. If I were not so tied into the place regarding property, friends and family, I can think of a lot of places that I would much rather live. But there again, like you, I live in Manila, and even then only for a few months of the year. Don't think that I could put up with the dysfunctional shithole 365/12.
Maybe I have had a bad day. Although I did get laid by a beautiful and willing young Pinay!

I'm staying, at least for the time being because I've decided I can live better here than back in France or the US, but it's a close run sort of decision. Like CS, I couldn't put up with this place 365, but as long as I can get out every 2-3 months, I can maintain my tolerance level. I've had this discussion a few times with the esteemed RK who probably sees slight more upsides than I do.

JFK to Manila MNL
Recently purchased great flights at a great price. ANA website. You have to keep checking several times a day price fluctuates. I got RT for US$999. JFK to NRT. NRT to MNL. Total 21. 5 hours. Return MNL to NRT. NRT to JFK. Total 18. 5 hours. These by far are the shortest flights and best prices out there from NY.

I have said before that there are some high magnitude negatives balanced by many medium level positives and the pluses win, which is why I stay here (I am not that masochistic LOL)
A major positive is that I have employment here in Philippines with additional opportunities to work for short times in Cambodia, Laos and Mongolia in the past few years that give me some refreshment. Trips back to Australia also boosts my mood.
For those thinking about retirement here. I think that GE & I agree that if there was not work to keep our brains going we might well be somewhere else.

Were you able to fly the specific days that you wanted or did you have to be open to flying on the days of that cheap fare?
GL.
I was in BKK recently and the Cebu Pacific staff (well all airline staff I was told by the CPac lady) wanted to see a return ticket not one way. The Philippine government is cracking down so as to encourage tourism LOL (am now asked by Emirates for the same!)
Welcome to PI (again)
I was ask for an onward ticket the last time I went for a visa extension. I thought perhaps the travel agent just wanted to sell tickets, but they swore immigration wanted to see a copy.

Like when I went to arrange a visa to Philippines, the requirement stated "FLIGHT TICKET"
I did my own booking. NOT TICKETED. Those in travel will know booking is not complete until ticketed. And the embassy girl looked for departure dates and return dates and said "ALL OK". Now if she really did have access to all the GDS, All the airlines, she would have been surprised to find that the booking doesn't exist.
You can book, print an Itin and then cancel the booking.

New rules and new procedures.
Those of you who have been coming here for 30 years and bribing your way through and / or ignoring visa deadlines and procedures etc may well find a new playing field.
The latest advice given here by different people is the best advice.

I agree with Red Kilt that things are changing, but I'm sure you can still buy your way around just about anything here.
