I don't believe for a second your "friends" agree they are slaves. Really, you have friends who "signed up" to be "cannon fodder"?
It has nothing to do with Jingoism or Patriotism, I am neither. But I have tremendous respect for those who would put their lives on the line to allow me to live my life in freedom. Calling them slaves is hugely disrespectful.
Fuck the government (USA or otherwise). I'm not talking about them, but it should be very obvious why the military doesn't allow its members to visit prostitutes while deployed in a foreign country.
All the guys I went to high school with who served in Vietnam regretted their involvement in the military which they felt used them like cannon fodder in a war the government did not even intend to win. One of them lost an eye along with half his face -- for nothing. I can respect them all very much but that doesn't change the truth that soldiers sign up to be slaves.
You might not be talking about the government, but I am, and was when I made what you called a "snide" statement. My ire was directed toward the government -- not the courageous men and women whom I do respect.
And, no, it is not obvious to me why a brave soldier should get in trouble for seeking a little R & R in a foreign country. I think it's asking too much from them. I think they deserve to be treated like adult human beings while serving their nation.
IMHO many mongers make the mistake of comparing a local price structure with "what it costs back home." This leads them to passing out money as if it were water in many countries where it is not necessary. I prefer to look at everything in context of the Big Mac Index and the local purchasing power parity. (In each country you visit check out the price of a Big Mac or a pack of Marlboro (although govt. taxes are added to the cigs) and compare it to back home.)There is absolutely no reason to fork over approximately 30 USD/ hour where the average monthly wage is 24,000 baht or US$800.
It's even worse than that. 24 000 Bath is the GDP per capita not the wages. No many thais earn more than 10 000/month.

You said it perfectly. I'm from India, didn't realize the same mind games and brainwashing they play on US soldiers also. The talk of brave men and women, fighting for their country is a brain washing tool to get young men from all over the world to fight against each other.
When i graduated from college, i had to opportunity to work for navy, but i refused, i did not had the brain for all the politics that goes around...but some how i did not feel killing another human being in the name of protecting national security was a good thing...i thought putting human life is higher than political boundaries.
I was 20 yrs old then not smart enough (one reason they recruit young) many friends who joined the military regret it even today....they are used when their blood is young..when they get old..they are thrown away.....they think i'm really lucky to go around the world when i wish and have fun....they believe with all boot camps, waking at 4 am, following strict orders have made them robots. They are unable to think for themselves after some time.
When ever i call my military friends the first thing they ask is ..How im enjoying my life..
All soldiers in every country are used as slaves. I never hear the presidents son and daughter from India, Pakistan, USA, UK, Iran, Korea, Russia fighting in the front line...its all about normal people like you and me who are butchered in the front line all in the name of national security, freedom which are just brain washing trigger words.
The reason i write this is i feel sorry for my friends as they are stuck...they made a wrong choice.....i don't blame them...its the whole social structure that is to blame...i hope if some one is reading this would warn there friends and may be their kids some day for not joining the military. If we all from every country not decide to fight against each other...these devious political leaders will have no one to create wars.

Fuck me, 1000bht plus 30USD per hour for three hours plus tip for HE, I may as well not bother about booking my next holiday to Thailand next year cause the prices will be cheaper in my own country if people keep throwing it away like that.
One of the providers I met over there while on holiday was a really sexy looking 19 year old with a knock out body, was paying her 1000bht LT (I held on to her for a while, she would stay with me the whole of the next day and we'll go to her bar at 8:30pm where I'd buy her one drink to make the owner happy, pay her bf again and then we'd leave), plenty of BBBJ and rimming both ways which is enough to make anybody feel like a king.
I was a newbie and I'm still fresh, but for the whole time I was in patt's I didn't fall into temptation and over pay or tip these providers, price on services were negotiated and agreed upon prior.
Which reminds me I need to post another days adventure!
As for the military, would an establishment which advertisers massage come under the same category as brothel or parlor?
And, no, it is not obvious to me why a brave soldier should get in trouble for seeking a little R & R in a foreign country.
Especially since it's a tradition as old and honored as the military itself. Just these poor guys' luck to live in a time and place of ridiculous political correctness.
However I'm happy to say that last time I asked the girls on Soi 6, they told me sure, some of the guys take girls. But then military regulations have never gotten in the way of anybody with any spirit.

No pussy, no war!
no, it is not obvious to me why a brave soldier should get in trouble for seeking a little R & R in a foreign country.
Young men go to war to fuck pussy and have some adventure. It all gets wrapped up in a cloak of patriotism. This is the way of the world since before the Greeks sacked Troy. But once the young soldiers experience the horrors of war they begin to change their minds...about war, not pussy.

You forget most of the countries have all volunteer army. Nobody is forcing anybody to join the armed forces. Where there is strict draft even the daughters and sons of the president and high officials have to join. No exceptions .
Joining the armed forces has its advantages. Travelling the world, steady job and benefits and even retirement is taken care of. Downside is the risk associated with fighting.
All army whether you like it or not need to be brainwashed. How can a army fight together if each one thinks for himeself?
In spite of your comments there will always be a war in our life times. Every country will have armed forces with advanced weapons.

On a Tangent
As an ex US Navy officer I look at the military as only a job. And on every job there are certain rules that have to be followed. When you sign up you consent to follow those rules. There is truth in what everybody is saying. It just has to be put all together.
1. Guys sign up to get exotic pussy and adventure.
2. Regulations have never gotten in the way of anyone with spirit.
3. The talk of brave men and women, fighting for their country is a brain washing tool to get young men from all over the world to fight against each other.
4. The truth is that when they sign up for duty, they essentially become the property of the US military which can put them into harms way; order them to stay away from prostitues; or just about any thing else their masters desire.
Today's military is no different than the old feudal system where the lord allowed a man to use a parcel of land in exchange that he would go to war for the lord when the time came. Today you can sign up in a time of peace and receive a paycheck every month while preparing and always being ready for war in hopes that a war will not take place during your stint. What are the chances of that? But when the time comes you have to be ready to fulfill your part of the deal which is doing what you were hired to do, fight; not question the motives or reasons that you are going to war or question why you have to do what you are told. You merely have to execute the commands you are given from above.
In order for everyone to be on the same page rules are in place, such as wearing a uniform. The first thing you learn when you go to the military is there are no individuals, there is only the group. Your personal ideas have to be left in your home town and you do for the good of the group. Of course you are not supposed to get tattoos because your body is government property and you are not supposed to fuck working girls. But as Daddy said, those rules have never gotten in the way of anyone who wanted to do those things. The key with that as with anything in life is knowing how far a particular rule can be bent.
As far as the hooker issue maybe the Nav had enough of guys coming back to the ship after liberty with diseases or getting complaints to the Commanding Officer from various women. (I remember many times a guy had a disagreement with a woman or he would not do as she wanted then she would threaten to go to the Commanding Officer to get him into trouble.) These trivial things cost money and take away from resources. The fortunate thing is that the door swings both ways. When your contract is up you can always walk out the same door you walked in.

You're right. The average monthly wage in Thailand, for the second quarter of year 2009, was lesser than 8600 baht (8521.7), according to the Bangkok Post Economic Review:
http://bangkokpost.com/productinfo/common/img/img_eco2/pdf/EC301209E08.pdf
And in rural Isan (the region from where most of the P4P girls available on the tourist-oriented market come), many people live on less than 4000 baht per month (in the agricultural sector, the average monthly wage was approximately 3600 baht only in 2009).

OT-Military Service
I served over a years in Viet Nam '68-69. It was tough duty, full of dangers and hard times. That was the down side of my tour, the good side was I got to experience the wonders of Asia and the beauty of Asian women. An old timer in my unit gave a taxi girl a dollar to take me to the green leaves motel and I've been hooked on Asian ladies ever since. Without the exposure given to me by the service I would never have known a whole 'nother world and way of living. I look at Viet Nam like the biggest adventure of my life and don't regret the experience at all!
It's even worse than that. 24 000 Bath is the GDP per capita not the wages. No many thais earn more than 10 000/month.
Exactly. I stand corrected. I remember doing a tour and going to a rice farm. They said that a rice farmer makes about US$ 1200/year. No way I'm giving a working girl the same amout for a couple of hours as it takes a hard working rice farmer a whole month to make.

If you'd take the time to read my report you would see that my tip was 30 USD for 3 hours of pampering.....not 30 USD/hour as you stated.
I was the first customer in their brand new spa, and the place was magnificent. No expense was spared in the construction, and they were trying to build a client base by going the extra mile with each new client.
The attendant first filled their brand new jacuzzi with coconut milk while I took a soothing sauna. When the bath was filled she scrubbed my entire body before helping me into that lucious concoction in the whirlpool. She joined me in one of the best baths I've ever had.
After the bath, she gave me a 30 minute oatmeal facial, followed by a 1 hour foot massage, and then an hour and a half oil massage to die for.
I happily gave her what amounted to a bit less than $30 for a once in a lifetime experience.
I'm not really interested in what your Bic Macs cost......but I hope you enjoy them along with your Marlboros.

Thanks for the link. Pretty interesting but the bar girls are making cash and I bet a lot goes uncounted for.
