hello to everybody,
been away from the board quite some time and have to catch up a bit.
If you like to go to AC yo should try to catch "fly the bus". If you fail, you have many options to get a direct cab/ride to ac while swagman staff will assist you regarding price, etc. Maybe you find another monger who is going zo arrive with you and you can share a ride to AC..happened to me one time.
AC is well woth the visit, in terms of girls, bars and fun.

Reminds of me of this very pretty girl at Emotions who was waiting for her barfine to show up. What the hell she thinks. its 15 minutes till he gets here. Up she gos to shortime room. Not even 15 minutes later she is hurriedly running to entrance to greet her barfine...yuk!

The International on Blow Road is a nice bar, nice food, usually have some sort of sports on the big screen, casino in back, and no dancers. The waitresses are fun to look at, but not sure if they are BFable. Nice place to relax and have a drink or bite to eat though!

Could someone please recommend a nice hotel in AC near all the night life and action, (Fields Ave) I'm a first timer in Philippines so any info would be great, I'm after a hotel thats reasonably priced, perhaps with swimming pool etc. Any info would be great.

Pacific Breeze is the best in Fields. Nice pool, super girl friendly. If the girl leaves, they call your room to verify its ok for her to leave which I thought was pretty cool. I walked around to the 4 or 5 hotels in the area, and the rooms weren't nearly as nice as PB. Its a bit more expensive than others, but not as expensive as some, but great value for the $$.
Only downside is the 1/2 block walk to blow road and the 1st of the bars has a few trannies. But after 2 nights they leave you alone. As long as U-turn them down.

Manila to AC. Flight arrives 7.00pm Sat Night, Bus departs Swagman Hotel 8.30pm. Too tight?
AC to Manila. Flight departs 11.00am, so the 8:00am departure from AC is too late to make the 2 hrs check-in.
I'd figured that an AC hotel pick/drop would be the best. I much prefer the 'certain nature' of mongering in AC, although I guess EDSA or other spots in Manila would be OK.
Anyway, once I determine what I'm doing, I'll post in travel thread...

Personally to me, you could possibly make the bus if everything goes right meaning no delays on landing, no long lines at immigration, but I think it'll be close. It may not be worth the hassle of trying to save money and get there to see you missed the bus. You can save the time by getting picked up at the airport instead and getting to AC faster. It's definitely more expensive and if you are going to bother to go there for that one night you should stay second night and then get another private car to airport to get your flight. It's a tough and probably tiring schedule but you'll most likely have fun. The 5000 pesos can also be saved by just doing Manila/Makati instead at a slower pace but the costs add up there especially if LA Cafe isn't going and you do EDSA or Burgos.
Thanks - some serious travel being contemplated. It'll be a long day as I'm leaving Bangkok on Sat noon and travelling to Manila via HongKong. Likewise for the return on Monday - I'll be departing Manila at 1100 landing back in Bangkok around 1630 local, and getting to Pattaya for last 2 nights before going home.
In terms of cost, I'd concluded that what I lose on car trip to/from AC I'd make up on cheaper hotel/drinking/mongering costs. Time is the only thing you can't get back ... hence the initial query. Reading the forum left me with the view that activities run later in AC and that might compensate for the lost transit. Whether I can cope is another question....

Angeles City 'serial killer' finally falls

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – A computer technician tagged in a series of robbery-killings in this city was finally arrested in San Fernando, La Union yesterday afternoon.
The suspect, Mark Dizon, 28, yielded a caliber .38 revolver with eight bullets, a laptop, and a cellular phone when an Angeles City police team headed by Superintendent Elvis Diaz nabbed him in front of the San Fernando plaza, said Chief Superintendent Arturo Cacdac Jr., Central Luzon police director.
Expatriates here had offered a P100,000 reward for Dizon’s arrest.
Dizon, who also worked as a reflexologist, was nabbed five days after the killing of retired US Air Force M/Sgt. Albert Mitchell, 70, his wife Janet, 53, and their house helpers Isabel Fajardo, Marissa Prado, and Yulberto Catli in their home at Hensonville Court Subdivision in Barangay Malabanias here.
Dizon was implicated in the killing and that of seven other people, mostly expatriates, in separate incidents in this city.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said Dizon is also the suspect in the killing of South African national Geoffrey Allan Bennun, 60, and his live-in partner, Abegail Helina, 20, whose decomposing bodies were found in their house at Oasis Hotel and Villas in Clarkville Compound in Barangay Anunas here last July 12.
Dizon was also tagged in the July 16 killing of Briton James Bolton Porter, 51, and his live-in partner, Melissa Madarang, 22, in their house at Sta. Maria Subdivision in Barangay Balibago here.
In all cases, Bautista said the victims’ laptops were stolen and a 9-mm pistol was the murder weapon, based on slugs found in the crime scenes.
After reading this I had to ask how bad can the security be at the Oasis hotel that two people get killed with a 9-mm pistol and security does not do anything. WTF??? Can't wait to see what Harry the Horse has to say on this.
I fly into NAIA 1630hrs. Can't be bothered with the 2030hrs Fly-the-Bus from the Swagman, and prefer to take a car direct from the airport to AC. Anyone interested in sharing the cost?

I think the Oasis Compound is made up of separate housing and also the Hotel. I stayed in the Oasis Hotel in the mid 90's.
Has any member ever stayed at the clarkton hotel, Angeles City? can they advise if this is a good place to stay?

For the OP looking for drinks without girls, Kokomoz and Margaritaville (that's right Jimmy B's lawyers, that's what we still call it!) are the standard hangouts. Poolside at either of the Orchid hotels is pretty pleasant on a nice day.
