Shanghai is one very good example.

Bars where every woman bar fines every time are among the least busy and least popular. See Island Bar and City Bar. Customers are few and far between.

There's really no excuse to wander blindly into a bar in this day and age especially for people who know sites like this exist. You can know what a place is like before you visit and you can find out the difference between hostess bars and brothels.

They simply know how to hustle. Proof is that many of the current crop used to or still do freelance at places like sharkys, pontoon and martini before or after working Naga.

They ask 100 in Naga because it's full of Asian guys who spend it. The same women short time for 30 when freelancing at other places and fuck their unemployed uneducated local boyfriends for free. Nothing upscale about them at all.

One of the few reasons Cyrcee was interesting amongst the happiness was that it had its ducks in a row and good control over its staff. Sadly this has ended at Cyrcee with the foreign customer, living locally or tourist, susceptible to price gauging from the girls. " The vast majority are not middle class and many fuck like bunnies whenever no one is looking and teenage pregnancy is common.

This is also the way it is with Laos and long time ago in Thailand. Indonesia has a version of this viewpoint too.

Whether you like it or not, that is the way it is.

I have taken many girls home from various bars in Phnom Penh. Only very rarely has a girl said no. Try to look at your own person. If you are gross, you do not have many chances.

I go most to bars driven by farangs. This because there it is the toilets cleanest and the girls sweetest. My experience is that the owners are very attentive to the girls' behavior.

Some girls never or rarely go with custommers. If you are new in a bar and want to be sure not to give drinks to a girl who never goes with custommers, ask the girl upfront or talk to the cashier first. If you're in a bar with a farang owner, talk to him.

The peasant majority deals with this more than anyone else in fact. They live in small villages where everyone knows everything quickly. Losing virginity before marriage is a huge disgrace to the family and eliminates the ability of the family to extract a decent bride price at wedding time. For people who make 1000-3000 dollars a year this is a major issue.

Again, Cambodia is not Thailand or the Philippines or Laos or anywhere else, even if they look similar to outsiders.

There is more anonymity in the big cities, or in the case of Cambodia the one big city of Phnom Penh. With that comes a little more freedom, but not much. As anyone who has lived there for any amount of time can tell you, you run into the same people over and over. That's even more common for Cambodians with extended families, friends, school mates, etc. Rumors spread fast, judgement is very harsh, and family pressure can be too much to bear.

There is a reason most prostitution was done by Vietnamese women in the years during and immediately following UNTAC. Even coming out of brutal war and famine most Khmer people wouldn't consider sex work in those early days.

Many parents are very strict. At the same time it is impossible to watch girls constantly and restrict their movements. Girls lie all the time saying they are going to stay with their girlfriends. It's rare in the Philippines even though the church promotes it. Thailand talks about it but it's pretty common for Thai women to lose their virginity before marriage as all the unwed teen mothers show.

Cambodia is different. The majority of women marry as virgins and teen pregnancy without marriage is very rare. Any single mother came out of a divorce rather than a runaway boyfriend as you see in Thailand, Philippines, etc.

Don't take my word for it. Check the stats. I won't post a bunch of studies here but they confirm what my experience suggests.

Laos and Isaan are full of unmarried mothers who got knocked up in their teens. Same with the Philippines. Cambodia is quantively different.

The percentage of women under 19 in Cambodia who have had children is 8%. This is country where sex education is almost non existent and rural marriages involving 15-16 year old girls are common.

On the other hand Thailand and Laos have the highest percentage of unmarried teen pregnancies in ASEAN, followed by the Philippines.

Though most of the bars are Cambodian owned and managed. Foreign owned and managed bars include Cheers, Soft Spot, Top Ten and Matilda's on street 104, Honeypot, Loco, Angry Birds, Lotus Girls and Simply the Best on street 130, Valhalla on 102, Narys and Pretty Woman on 110.

But I think that if you ask a bargirl straight away "do you go out with customers?" without even buying her one drink, she is much more likely to say no than if you at least buy her one drink (it's only $3. 50), chat to her, let her feel more relaxed about you, and then ask her.

And ask "do you sometimes go out?" rather than "do you go out?" Because the girl wants to keep the option of saying yes or no to you while she gets to know you a bit better. If you just ask her straight out, her default answer is likely to be NO, whereas if you've taken ten minutes to talk to her a bit, she is much more likely to say yes.
