Nowadays I know enough to move around a bit in Sampa but thinking about my experience in the past, I think it's great that there is somebody, who is willing to take the newbie mongers and new to So Paulo safely around the city and the places he knows best and shares his information with us. It can save many a lot of money, time and unpleasant situations.

I also like the boate scene, but it can be really expensive, even if very satisfying and pleasurable experience. For you who live in Sampa or in Brazil it may be easy to move around, but for somebody who is coming from outside, it may be overwhelming by it's size and also quite dangerous if you put your feet in a wrong area. And for people who don't speak Porto, the situation is twice as difficult.

And when no one can be a wing man they might feel like there are no other option than to pay for a tour guide. I've seen plenty of tour guide offers all over this board which I'm fine with. But its not cool to take advantage of the situation of the other person if they ask about clubs or clash with people posting about clubs.

For those that don't speak the language and would like to go to a club, I would recommend Bomboa. It's pretty safe imo. There are at least 3 waiters that speak English and are will to help no need to tip them either. The club makes the girls get exams and tested every 3 months. If a girl did anything wrong like the problems you had with a client they will tell the girl to leave. 250 R cover which can all be used for food and drinks, 150 for room, 400-500 R for girl. Tell the girl you will want to take her out if everything goes good which gives them motivation to give you a great time in the room LOL.

He's actually saving them both time and money.

Nothing like wasting both your time and money trying to figure a city out, especially if you're unfamiliar, new at the game, non-speaker, etc.

For some guys, a service like that is desired and requested.

I think it's very unfair of some of you complaining about AltoBomGosto's services. If it wasn't for his contributions the São Paulo thread would be almost dead. He gives updated information on, what IMO is the most interesting mongerscene, the privées. If we had a ABG in the Rio thread giving updated privê information I would be a very happy monger.

He offers his services to those of you needs them. That's just excellent. It's propably not an easy work having to deal with newbie gringos who often have no idea about how the mongering scene works. São Paulo is a huge city. The privées are very much spread out. To somebody who doesn't know São Paulo it would take a lot of time finding all the right addresses. It would take a lot of metro- or taxi-rides. I've never had the pleasure of meeting ABG, but it seems like those who have used his services are very satisfied. If you're not interested in his services, then don't use them and stop complaining.

I also support ABG, who showed me around SP first time I was there. Yes, I paid him, and it was an investment that yielded 100% to 300% in saved time, money, etc. He steered me away from rip offs (the terma equivalents, which are 300% higher price than the clinicas, like Miruna, which are best bang for buck).

What is wrong is steering people for kickbacks / perks and clashing with people that post about clubs.

But ABG's been forthcoming about his motives. And services. It's not like, after you met him, he states he's going to charge you. Nothing posted here states you have to use him. Actually, in this age of Google, he's giving the store away. Using Google maps, and navigation, one can easily find the places he recommends. Don't speak the lingo? There are apps for that too. Some of you are missing it: he's pointing you in the right direction to some quality tail.

Lasty, you may be surprised to learn, some of those ladies you meet at these fancy clubs, may have been had at a much lower price point at one of these clinics or privies. Keep up the good work ABG.

Personally I have no problem with ABG, I think he offers a service and he does above the board. It may suit some people, it may be a waste of time and money for others. But he seems to be reliable and straight forward about it.

Same goes for the boites, some people may enjoy the ambience, and the mingling. If they are willing to pay there should be no issue, you cannot argue that Fogo de Chao is a scam just because you can buy much cheaper food in McDonalds, it is a different value proposition.

Also I would like to point that a girl charging twice or 3 x in one place is not necessarily a scam, in a clinical she may have a well defined work stream where she can maximize her yield (to keep going with the restaurant comparison), in a boite she does not know when / if she will get a customer making the whole thing much more unpredictable. I would be hard pressed to complain about a provider charging more for a product / service with a much higher cost base.

Yes, clinicas seem to be more effective in terms of (pussy) -yield, but there is room for higher end restaurants too. Yes it is unfortunate that markets tend to cluster in either low-cost very effective or high-end very expensive as they mature but that is life. There is little between a $50 watch and a $1000 one.

My question was about rip-offs and tourist traps, like overcharging credit cards, customers getting drugged, robbed,. Those kind of things.

Generally speaking, you'll incur a 10% or higher charge for using a credit card. Your bill may be padded, (Did I buy 10 or 15 drinks? How many were mixed drinks?) Drugged and robbed? Doubtful, but it has happened to a few. One hears about that, when they're reported in the News. Then there's the constant hand out, everyone looking for a tip. :rolleyes:

You, however, obviously have a beef with ABG.

I know the guy, he helped me out when I was new to SP, as a matter of fact, he still helps me out here and there with some tips, he's a native.

He personally does not like the club and boate scene. It's not his thing.

He still takes clients there though, if they wish.

He may come accross as harsh about clubs, but some of that is due to his english, though very good, not perfect.

He's a good dude.

BTW There are plenty of places in Spain I would advise you not to enter because of the issues I mentioned. I have seen really bad in Istanbul. That Brazil seems to offer a more honest approach in spite of all the issues here with crime is nothing short of amazing!

Also I think some people are underestimating how dumb some tourists can be. I remember a truly embarrassing situation in Na Kombi with a group of American tourists, one of them was especially noisy, rude, annoying. I was there with my namorada, and the waiter moved out to a different table (it may have helped that we were taking the sushi down with some bubbly, making for a hefty bill)

I can see this people getting into troubles quite easily.If ABG prevents that from happening he is certainly earning his pay.
