I will be flying to Manila, stay for some days and then going to Subic Bay. Do you know what would be the best way to go? Bus, Car agency, etc. If taxi is the only or best option, what is a fare rate?

Manila to Subic is not a short trip. I think the Best option for the price is taking the bus. Car service and taxi for such a distance may not be what you are willing to pay, but I could be wrong.

Thanks![/QUOTE]I asked about the cost of a car from Subic to Manila a few years ago through my hotel and was quoted $100. I ended up taking the bus for p230, it's a 4 hour ride.

All depends if you are on a budget or want door to door service.
Victory Liner Bus from Pasay is around 300 php.
Private bus service 1200 php but you must overnight in AC.
Taxi or private car upwards of 5000 php.
All three options are via Angeles.

Spending 5, 000 for taxi is a bit too much especially you need to find 'safe' atms to draw money or safe money changers.

I'm in AC now, but I did fly into MNL and was thinking of spending a few days. AC is my usual routine, but I try to vary the trip slightly with an "oh, what the hell, " attitude. This month, I was thinking I'd give Makati City a try, and furthermore, just see what the meter cab suggested for a cheaper place to stay in Makati. I should have known better though. I get to the metered cab and say "take me to Makati City RLD, and suggest to a place. " We talk girls for a bit, and he winds up taking me to the travel agency (I've been here). They in turn suggest the "budget place, " of Crosswinds (been here to). They wouldn't dare reveal to me a hostel down the street or another cheaper place a Philipino friend later recommends.

So I reluctantly head to Crosswinds, and anticipate simply meeting an AFF philipina I'd been chatting with. When I check in, the dude helping me with bags asks if I want to head to a girly bar, and I say "oh, what the hell. " He takes me to Area 51. He liked it because it had live shows, but nothing too different than what I've seen in AC. I get in there, the "manager" talks me up and gives me menu with some pretty expected beer prices. I order for myself and the Xwinds buddy. The manager brings three stunning girls, and we chat for a bit.

The server then brings the bills for my drinks (menu prices, 150 phps), but also a cover (3000 php) and three ladie drinks (1000 each). It blew my top off! I said "why the hell didn't you mention a cover before I got in here?! " When the fuck didn't you tell me how much LD were when I asked you "How much are LD?! " I basically said there's no way on earth I'm paying that for the cover and the LDs. The mf then said he'd call the police and I'd spend.

Anyway, I negatiated some serious discounts from there. I thought it was complete BS. But right now my girl is knocking on the door, so I will talk to all of you later.

Call your hotel in Subic. Their private car can pick you up at the Manila airport. Hotel cars from AC are running (one-way) about 2500-2700. Subic is farther, so expect to pay more like 4000-5000 one way for private. When you get out of the airport and to the street level, across the street is a crowd of people (the waiting area). There will be a hotel-uniformed driver with a placard with your name on it. He'll haul your luggage to the car and drive you right to the hotel in Subic (2-3 hours). I like the private ride. The driver and car are at your disposal. Want to stop for food along the way? Sure. I have him stop either in Manila or the McDo place on the way to AC. I buy him and me a burger, that way I'm not starving when I get to my destination. You can also sleep in the back seat (tell him to turn that crappy music off).

I have taken this bus from Angeles to Subic in the past and it is clean and comfortable. You can catch it from Manila also and the link is above.

My work is in call centers, so I'm usually onsite from 7PM-7AM. Would love to check out MBC in the AM after work. What would I find at 9AM? 12PM?
