Something we take for granted in the first world is public space design standards. It's not unusual to have to squint or shade your eyes to see past bright spotlights directed at eye level. Sometimes in restaurants I have to angle my chair away from spotlight glare to read the menu or see my table mate. I think part of the problem is the difference between the average height of Colombians and gringos. You have to be really careful with blinding lights while you are walking on broken sidewalks and navigating random deep holes. With the increased amount of foreigners living here now, and tourists, I could see the whole area becoming as full and vibrant as the Provenza area within a few years.

How is the lineup and service at Energy these days? I've read mixed review of this place. I went once in 2022 and the lineup and service was pretty average. How is it now?

This is pretty much a vacation that I squeezed in at the last moment. I see that no one is posting reports. I see a bunch of mongers here so it surprises me that people are willing to say little. I am coming from Bay Area (Nor Cal).

I usually fly out of SFO on JetBlue but their schedule has changed and they don't have flights to Medellin anymore. While they still fly there there are no connecting flights. It used to be FLL but I guess it's seasnal. I took a flight from SJC to PHX to MIA. The flight to PHX had a 9 hour layover. It was at 11:58 pm so I got hotel room. I got snacks and ate some food at hotel and took nap. I got back to the airport and was pretty packed. It was okay American Airlines are more organized than JetBlue they make sure people line up in section that they paid for. I noticed the employees are mostly women and much older. The amenities on the airline are less and don't have t. V screens you have to use your phone or tablet. They don't have food except cookies and did not have a blanket and pillow but oddly on the MIA- MDE morning flight they did. That's for people who want to know about flights cost me around $800.

Day One.

I get to my AirBNB in Laureles around 3 pm feeling real funky the hotel in Phoenix didn't have a functioning shower. So, I get squared away and at about 4:30 pm I heard a pop, pop and thought it was firecrackers or something and then I heard a lot more. They have no real self-awareness when they are out in public (similar to the States I guess). However, they SHOULD be more self-aware since they are not in their own country and can't protect themselves legally should they end up in an altercation. If they are emboldened to act the fool in Colombia, they will get deported and banned, perhaps incarcerated.

Yes, I know. Before you berate me, I am very well aware that everyone is here to have a good time. However, if Colombia (Medellin in particular) becomes like the Dominican Republic, it will be a sad day. I hope they find themselves some "get right" if they continue to visit Colombia.

Anyway. Back to the incident at Energy. A group of nine of them came in the other day. It was disgraceful.

They cat-called the girls unnecessarily when they came out to present themselves. It was embarrassing to hear them calling out numbers like they were at a Magic City auction. One of these "gentlemen" was talking out loud in English referring to one of the girls as "his working girl". I wish someone would give them an etiquette course when they applied for their passport. It's frustrating because I leave the States to get away from these types of people. Much to my chagrin, they are here now in larger numbers and with more frequency.

Now obviously, a large group of men will be annoyingly loud. There are all-star nations of imbecile tourists. Israelis, Brits, and Aussies are some of the worst in the world. But the difference is that those tourists are usually more well-traveled than our homegrown hooligans and therefore they know how to take it down a notch.

All I can say is that these guys better watch it or else they'll make the news if one of them decides to mouth off in Parque Lleras. I hope they try to pull their shenanigans in Castilla or Manrique. That would be hilarious! And if you mess with the police, you will end up in a bad place.

And wow, 250 seems a bit steep, but I guess its a situational thing.
