Police and the social services for child welfare have been on the scene in Parque Lleras with police as they were setting up the road blocks coming in to the area. So I suspect that is the main reason, and also to make the area safer for people enjoying the bars and clubs still inside the Parque Lleras area. I don't think it was ever to stamp out legit prostitution as that is legal. Although the area does not have that zoning so perhaps there could be issues around that for the businesses that are part of that.

I am staying in Laureles now and the neighborhood is fine. I will be moving to Poblado next week so I can report on a few things. But I'm not a casa, streetwalker or nightclub guy which is what most guys here are into. I have been perfectly happy with Facebook girls, 18-22. It has been working out in the past and it's working out on this trip. When I see a new girl sometimes it is disappointing but often it is not. I do my research and reach out to the girls before the trip and not during the trip so when I arrive in Medellin I already have a number of girls to see and my schedule is already filled up. I don't schedule the girls ahead of time except for the first day. I think one or two days notice is the best way because girls don't know what they're going to do more than a day in advance. If there is a party with friends, they rather do that.

Before the Pandemic the activity was always in and around Parque Lleras, but now Calle 10 has become what I guess you could call the "Strip" in Zona Rosa of Poblado.

If this is the new norm for the Strip, it's not surprising.

And with the lack of short time Love Motels nearby, the SW's in a lot of instances will have to spend more time with a client getting to and from their Hotel or Airbnb, hence higher pricing.

I am not sure of the supporting evidence to back up this assertion. But then again my statement is space just on looking at the girls in Poblado and looking at the girls in El Centro. It is definitely not a scientific analysis.

I think that the girls who can command a higher rates would work in Poblado and those who can't, work in El Centro.

They will engage you and you can use google translate if necessary. If they are not interested, they will walk away or not respond. Simple as that. Terminology wise, they call it a 'cita' or date. Yes, you can say things like "I'm looking for a date tonight" etc. No need to mention sex unless getting into specifics. They like to pretend they are all classy and welcome someone who lets them feel special. Lots of 'my amor' and how beautiful and other random compliments go a long way with them. You can use terms like reward (recompensa) or gift (regalo) when talking about compensation. It's really kind of a easy calm dating game where they will try to make it easy for you. You can even break ice by inviting them to a cheap beer at any of those outdoor tables, keep the soda / juice for yourself.

There's lots of SW's who work both Calle 10 and Centro where the going rate more or less for locals is 40 K.

I understand that the SW's working the Strip (Calle 10) are asking for lots of Pesos, as the customers pulling from there have never pulled from Centro, hence one might surmise that the asking / starting rate for foreigners / gringos on the Strip is 300 K, which makes sense, and maybe another poster who has pulled from the Strip can confirm this.

However, I can easily see a foreigner / gringo with Spanish speaking skills pulling SW's from the Strip for a lot less than the asking price, especially if there are no other customers out.

So if a SW who works both Centro and the Strip where offered 150 to 200 K when there were no other customers out, I'm sure there would be some who accept a lower offer as basically they would have to do four to five clients in Centro to make that kind of money.

But based on what your reporting, it makes sense that the SW's working the Strip are making bank or they wouldn't be out there as there are guys pulling them.

Just a sign of the times as before the Pandemic I don't recall seeing SW's working Calle 10.

Mongering venues come and go, and it's interesting watching the "evolution" of Calle 10 aka the "Strip".

I have seen it happen on many occasions.

A local walks up to a girl, makes an offer, and it gets rejected and he walks away.

Several girls have told me this and felt really insulted, but it works at times.

Especially if a girl is totally broke.

I meant to post this when I got here on Tuesday night but I was exhausted. After ending a year + relationship with my Vennie from Bogota, I literally checked out of the place we met and said goodbye and had no place to go. She had returned a bunch of stuff I had stashed at her place so I was overloaded, particularly with my organic massage oils that give me tremendous relief to my joints and I just love having hotties rub me down with, so flying was going to be problematic because they tend to leak and that's disastrous. I was contemplating renting a car and driving myself and really glad I didn't do that. I took a cab to the terminal de transportes and hopped on the first bus to Medellin. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I've been on buses before in Colombia but JEEZ. It took damn 12 hours and the chick next to me had doo doo breath and wouldn't stop fidgeting. The ride is 100 k so dirt cheap but you pay on the back end. What a ride. My taxi buddy picked me up and we dropped of my bag and headed over to LLeras where I left an earlier report. So anyway, the bus to Bogota is super cheap but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other choice or really want to save pesos.

Again, "a lot" may be a stretch but there are some who work both spots.

I would stay at one of the hotels around the corner from the Casino and would have a picnic at night there. A few months ago I went there at night for old times sake and I only saw 5 girls and none were to my liking. In the past there would be 40 or 50 with some good ones there.

I don't think it is a lot. From what I have seen, most of the girls working in El Centro are not attractive enough to get gringos to pay the higher rate in Poblado. But if they are attractive enough to get business in Poblado, enough for a month's wages, I find it difficult to believe that they want to sell themselves for 40 or 50 mil in El Centro. But I am no expert on this matter.
