I was part of a group in Costa Rica and those that were wanting to rent were complaining about the greedy expats who were demanding so much for their places. And the owners bitching about customers. Seems as if all these people don't really believe in a free market, supply, demand, etc.

Airbnb works these aspects. Always pushing owners to accept a lower price in order to drive more business, and messing around with which listings come up first, etc.

I actually saw three or four girls hanging out in front of the casino at Hotel Dorado that looked like prepagos when I was there. The girl I was with that night mentioned them too as she asked me if I ever slept with "those type of women". I've also heard that there are random pros looking for business sometimes at the bars on la 70 as well as the more dangerous types that scope. It's not Centro or Lleras certainly.

There's already at least one bar with a few girls working and a short time Love Motel that I have seen and it's just a matter of time.

Gents, help out a newbie please. What is a good venue by Parque Lleras to have a beer and watch the lleras girls walking by until I see one of my likings? Some venues seem to over charge based on google reviews. Thanks.

I think you overestimate the impact of gringos. On la 70 they are not a noticeable presence. Yes, you will see a few along with a few foreign tourists, but the bars and clubs are 98 percent locals. Show up when a futbol game is on and you may get to see riot police and tear gas too.

There always have been a few SW s along 70th, but not many and I suspect they are not all that welcome there so I can't see it increasing.

The situation on Calle 10 outside of Parque Lleras evolved as businesses closed in the park area due to pandemic restrictions, and the area just up the hill in Provenza was changed a bit to promote more restaurants, bars, etc. Chicas that in the past strolled inside the Parque Lleras area just stayed on 10 and the stroll went up 10 past Provenza and back and forth. Will be interesting to see what the city does to either ignore or suppress this. Perhaps the new gates to stop vehicles in Parque Lleras, and completing the work on water and sewer lines in the Parque will mean that the stroll goes back inside the Lleras area.

Laureles is more than just La 70 and if you walk around the other streets, it is quiet. The noisy part is just that one long street. Other than that, it is a nice quiet neighborhood with restaurants and shops. Yes I was at the San Peter and it is noisy at night. If you are a light sleeper, you may not want to stay there.

It is the first time I've seen those gates with the police officers. Now there are no more cars inside that section and it is much nicer to walk around. Blocks and blocks are just people strolling around without having to worry about cars. I don't know if they are checking the age of girls but that would be weird because young people should have the right to walk around the area. The second thing I felt was that the area was much safer with all the gates and police. If you got robbed, It is more likely that the suspect would be apprehended when he tries to leave the area.

I saw some street walkers but it was not a large number. You definitely see a lot more Americans in shorts and sports jerseys than streetwalkers. But it was only 9:00 pm So maybe there will be more later at night. Some of the girls were young and attractive and some were not so attractive.

There are plenty of regular bars without freelancers where you can have a beer and relax and not worry about being overcharged. When you come over you'll see that there are tons of regular bars to have a drink and relax. The places where people talk about being overcharged tend to be places where there are freelancers or bars really close to those nightclubs. If you just take a walk around you will see that there are a lot of wonderful bars just to have a drink and chill.

More and more gringos are buying / renting property and living in Laureles as an alternative to Poblado.

No hills to climb, and lots of good restaurants which I would rank second after Poblado.

And property values and apartment rentals in Laurels are lower than in Poblado.

Hence I am of the opinion as more and more foreigners show up in Medellin and decide to stay in Laureles versus Poblado, more SW's will show up there.

As far as SW's not being welcome, there not welcome anywhere in Medellin, and there isn't much that can be done about it.

Just finished another trip in Medellin and it is getting a bit harder to find really good Chicas at decent prices because some of you insist on overpaying these Chicas instead of politely telling them NO when they quote in USD instead of pesos.

Thanks for the report. Every so often questions come up about Gustos and its surrounding venues. Neither the questions nor the answers are new. It is what it is. The sign in oci. Mde you mention has been there for the past 12 or so years I've been eating there. I don't think they've been open much longer than that. More significantly, you will find the same sign at several of the others restuarants along the carrera 33 strip (Relato etc.) and elsewhere in Provenza. This is why I think it is misleading to suggest recent misbehavior is the reason the signs are posted. There is a bit more backstory involved but I agree with you it's better to be discreet. Come back soon, with a few exceptions most people enjoy it here the more they visit.
