Apocalypse: Went down in quality and quantity. Even they closed the second dance floor which is now the pool gaming area. Some freelancers but nothing as it used to be.
Safari: Loud, smoky and roudy. Average selection of freelancers. Mostly well experienced tough nuts.
Motorbike girls: Risky and fewer than a year ago.
GF: Seems to be getting easier, but you need at least 3 days to score.
Verdict: Certainly better than Laos or Burma, but far behind the rest of South East Asia

I've been to Singapore and Macau the past month and saw so many VN girls working there. Many of them have told me that working outside of VN is much safer, more money and no hassles. What do you think?
"GF" is fun! 3 days works but stay in touch for a year and return then watch what happens! This without being silly and having/creating false expectations.
The "I suck your dick" and "we go Boom boom mini-hotel" bar girls don't do it for me any more. OK, i tell a lie - I did get my dick sucked (150k VND) at a well known bar in the Hai Ba Trung strip (many have it) but i didn't go the boom boom there! OK tell the truth - i always end up at that bar at least once each trip :-)
The GF route absolutely costs more, all things considered (doesn't it at home?) but in VN the GF seems to give a lot more than at home.
I agree with previous posts that there are more and more VN girls turning up in bars in Singapore and KL but i have found that the ones that graduate to this level of travel are either under someones control, or have such a business attitude that it takes something away for me. (not suggesting that they don't have spectacular abilities in bed, quite the opposite)
I just love Vietnam, and in particular HCMC

P.S. to be fair i have some great "GF" type friends in Thailand that i enjoy catching up with every time I can. I think there was a successful advert campaign that essentially said "when you are on a good thing - stick to it!" That's what i do - keep track of the ones that really suit me and see them rather than go the lottery every time.

Certainly one does find Viet girls in Sing, HK but even there in very small numbers. Viet girls are not known, like Thais, Korean or Chinese to become working girls when going overseas. So the big question is where are all the bad girls gone?
In regards of the cost of a Viet GF I would say it will cost you far less than anywhere in Asia due to the fact that status symbols are still less predominant.
I rode by the Zoo area again a little later. Just drive slow and they will come up and proposition you with the "boom-boom" line. She was cute so I took her up on it. Went to a short time hotel. 100k for the room, and another 200k for her. She had a way too professional attitude though.
On another note. I noticed another area, maybe it was mentioned before, but on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai near the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street intersection. It was a friday night around 11 and there was a row (7 of them) lined up perfectly spaced 2 meters apart. I ride by there all the time earlier in the night (9 to 9:30) and have never seen them. Maybe it was the night (Friday) or the time (11)? Has anyone seen them there before? Most of them looked young and cute. Great bodies.
There was a round up on Friday night in Pham Ngu Lao area. Most of the late night place got shut down that night. I was in Sahara and they carded all of the Vietnamese and didn't bother the foreigners. I saw they had closed down a few others as well. From what i've heard it happens occasionally.

Back to the reason we are here, well some of us, punting.
I spent two nights in Saigon, and really enjoyed my first visit.
I sampled the following places: Caravelle, Monkey Bar, Samara club, Apocalypse, Catwalk, ?Corner bar.
Overall, the ladies were wonderful and predictably beautiful. We met two very charming ladies at the Apocalypse bar. One spoke exellent English the other zero. I managed with my paltry Vietnamese. We agreed on a price, and went to the Cafe in the front of the Caravelle hotel. Here I noted many free lancers were milling around, and obviously looking to procure business. We enjoyed a nice wine and chat with the ladies. Thereafter, we took them back to Liberty 3 Hotel, where our 'friendly' service attendant refused their entry without a little 'sweetener'. The $US10 seemed to satiate his appetite.
The rest of the night was spent in perfect harmony with this feminine and demure lady. "It's the girls from L'Oreal on their night off", he replied. I engaged in conversation with a few and really enjoyed their demeanour and points of view.
Hope to return soon to the lovely Saigon. Hope this diatribe didn't offend anyone else.
The monkey bar, also, had a collection of sexy ladies. The takeout price was $US50. The samsara and corner bar were local establishments. We were taken there by a local professional man. The Samsara club was particularly pleasant with a good ambience and modern feel and music. At about 11pm, a whole 'caravan' of sensational ladies walked in! I went into a daze. "What's going on here", I exclaimed to the local guy.

The VN archive here is full valuable info about thumbs down Monkey Bar and similar scams and BS. Apparently, many never read the archives but just take the mostly blind newbie tourist plunge, without heeding the repeated warnings. Hey, live and learn and pay the price - often big time rip-off prices!

I don't think of it as a personal attack at all. It's a realistic appraisal, an opinion, and for educational purposes. Also, you obviously are sadly mistaken or probably jealous having read very few of my many previous posts in characterizing them as all a "direct attack." I suppose you'll find a way to call this one an attack on you instead of my simply putting you straight on the issue. My post started out trying to clear up the name of a bar that was apparently misunderstood or mispelled and then I indicated I was amused enough to continue. It appears you're way to thin skinned, or you have nothing of value to offer either. If anything, I was attacking the useless ripoff Monkey Bar - drop in that loser bia om yourself and see what I mean. Better yet, drop into the so-called exclusive, overpriced Saigon-Saigon and then stumble right around the corner to lousy Monkey Bar. Gives us your own report. Opinions are like assholes - everybody has one.
Aren't all the bar's prices and styles a case of "different strokes for different folks"? During my trips I've been happy to try as many bars as I can, in the full expectation that some will be straight rip-off, some will offer great views and breeze at a high price, some will have great girls that you can't touch (during their work hours), and some will have great girls that you can touch.
I've got no doubt that on my next trip I'll end up at all of the above styles of bar, and i'll enjoy every minute. Even getting ripped off can be a lot of fun sometimes. Don't get hung up with judgements - just enjoy the ride(s)

Yes, I do agree that by paying more it drives prices up. This was exactly what happend 10 years ago when the Japanese and Taiwanese started overpaying. However, I don't think the info people provide is "useless" as you say. Not everyone comes here just for information. Reading about peoples adventures is interesting too. I'm assuming that you are a long time resident in HCMC so you know how things work. Some people just aren't here long enough to get to know the girls who will accept 200k for the night or even free sometimes. Its not like it was 10 years ago. I think to get a decent girl with a good attitude (from an expat bar) for the night is at least 500k (30US) or more now. Xich Lo drivers pay 50k but would you sleep with 50k girls even if it was for free? Probably not. Well, if you know of a good place where the girls will take 200k for the night, let us know!
