I'm well aware that there are some very good medical facilities available at cut rate prices as your numbers indicate. Some may even include doctocts with western exposure. I was referring specifically to practices where the docs are western trained to a very high level and pricing is not a real consideration as its funded by 3rd parties.

While I've paid similar to your value for money prices, I've also paid western prices for dental treatment, specialist assessment of a skin rash and chest pain. All of these had docs similar to the JHopkins trained specialist mentioned earlier.

Enough criticism of marshmallows. Take it from me LBFMs love marshmallows of all shapes, especially when they are gift wrapped in pesos. They just can's wait to get those marshmallows inside them. They love to stroll down the street with a marshallow in a stroller as the sneets and jeers they get for being with a marshmallow way beyond its sell by date deepens their character.

Cheers. G.[/QUOTE]Not a pissing match, just comparing experiences. I have only visited a Dr here twice and the IV antibiotics was for a non sexual infection that developed while I was in Canada so I started treatment there and finished here when I returned.

I have only paid out of pocket, at the medical services that locals use, I have not come anywhere near my deductible on my insurance.

They tried to get me to stay overnight, but I remembered friends telling me they make their money when you sleep there. It would be like US$500 if I would have taken them up on that offer. Instead, I told them I lived right around the corner and would just come back the next day. They got angry with me when I didn't fall for it.

Most everyone gets free health care in Canada, you don't pay for anything, only thing you will pay is for dental which is a luxury in Canada.

The only thing I will save in Philippines is in dental and in tattoos, LOL.

In Canada you don't pay a single dollar if you give birth, I have Filipinas friends so thankfull that in Canada they pay nothing during their pregnancy (even with csection) while in Philippines they had to pay like 40k to 50k public hospital or 80k semi-private for csection! (for their full hospital bill).

If you have Cancer all your treatments are free, chemo, radiation, even transportation to the hospital is free, I know this because my mom didn't had to pay a single dollar during her 5 years cancer treatment, can you imagine how much would it cost in Philippines or in USA where most uninsured people would have to sale their houses. In Canada you don't need to pay insurance to get free healthcare. Yes you get deducted on taxes, but if you don't work a single day like my grandma (she was 50 yrs old back then, she was not retired yet) she still got free healthcare.

Only illegal people and people with tourist visa don't get free health care that I known. But Canadians, Residents (with PR), people with work permit (like caregivers), and even refugees can get free healthcare in Canada. You don't need to be insure to get it.

To get the government health coverage you need to be a Canadian resident, either an immigrant on a permanent residency (citizenship track) or a resident citizen.

Refugees etc that you mentioned are not eligible for government health insurance but may have coverage under their programs. I know work permits are required to purchase private insurance or may be provided that as part of their employment package.

I used to use Tagged to find leads and dates and years ago it was pretty good. Now Its full of 1 word response wonders who can't even be bothered to read. Some looking for money for nothing and I am a little hard on them.

I think it varies by city and nationality. Locally now it is mostly overseas scam profiles. I did have two good catch-ups from that site over the past year. I just keep an active profile and dip in from time to time. It's not the gold mine it used to be.
