I think you all are tipping a little too much. Think about it, you feed them in the morning and you pay for their trike. Why tip them more than P500 or P600? They still want to come back. I have had no problem tipping them P500 with no breakfast and no trike fare. They are calling me the next evening to BF. Remember you have the upper hand. I know they want to give you a guilt trip about their kids and family back home. Can you imagine how many guys they tell that story too?? I promise, P500 is enough. And, if they do a fantastic job, maybe P600 with breakfast and trike.

Many of you probably have way more exeperience than I have of the area, but I still have done my share of BFs in AC and Subic. My buddies who have much more experience of that scene told me when I first went there that 300-500 would be a good enough tip. Then when reading reports here about year ago, I could see there was a rather large range so I figured I might get it out of the girls what is expected, what is a low and high tip.

Of course they would not say at first. Would repeat "up to you", "nothing, just what you like" etc. After putting into place some tricky interrogation tactics, I basically found out this:

Tip from 0-300 is regarded as rather low for LT where the girl thinks she provided good services and stayed until morning or longer.
There was a general consensus that 300 was an ok tip and they would not b*tch about it to the other girls. They considered 300 kind of normal
500 was by all considered a good tip
None would expect to get a tip for ST

The sample was something like 6 or 7 girls from different establishements in AC and Barrio (Subic). I was not asking them at the time of the tip, but rather doing an online chat or chat in other surroundings than at the bar so the answers were not directly linked to a time of payment.

So, I usually tip 300-500 for good service. Have never tipped more than 500 and never for short time. Yeah, I know, some might say "you cheap bastards, this money is nothing for you", but I subscribe to the theory not to flaunt money more than I necessarily have to in any place of the world.

Anyways, just my 2 cents here, does not upset me if someone is IMO "overtipping", but I think it is good to know what is considered the norm (well, might have to be more than 6-7 girls sample to represent the norm, but they were all on the same line with almost no deviation on the amounts).

The data is however almost 1 year old so things might have changed although I have stuck to the above amounts. Would be interested if anyone else here has similar data, i.e. what the girls consider low, normal and high

I am exactly the same. No tip ST. LT-300 peso bad to OK service. 500 for GREAT service, i.e. Carmex really happy, or I think the girl worked very hard to please regardless of the outcome.

Only had one girl ever complain about 300 peso LT but that girl complained about everything from the moment she left the bar.

Have received much confirmation that 500 is a really good tip for LT.

My data is also 1 yr old, but I cannot believe times have changed that much. Some guys don't tip at all.

Feel free to reference this Jakarta post (mine), on what the men there are paying and tipping freelancers. Some gents there have gotten into the habit of tipping more than the girls are asking for a Short Time. The AC gents will tip whatever they tip. However, AC bargirls are happy to have the work even when they don't get tipped anything (and they don't complain). Do most of us give them at least some tryke money home? Sure. Some give more. But if you are giving her p500, you are nearly doubling her salary (she gets p700 of the 1400 barfine). If you are giving her p1000, 1500, or 2000 (see recent posts, this thread), you are tipping more than her daily pay, or 2x, or 3x.

It isn't a matter of being cheap charlie. If you read the Jakarta item from above, you will see that I said there it makes little difference to me how much I give the girl. $30 for LT? $50? Who cares? I'm only in AC a few nights, maybe a week. The extra money means little to me. Therefore cheap charlie goes out the window. Its a matter of creating an expectation on the part of the girls. Proof? From Henio's recent post:

Where the hell did THAT come from in AC? Its recent, as one year ago I had two bargirls mention a tip in the morning, before I had the chance to drop it on them. I was a bit surprised at that.

A different perspective. A waitress in a restraunt makes $75/day. When I'm having a $10 breakfast, I drop $2 on the table (certainly a 20% tip is not cheap charlie). Another gent (who loves to tip) drops $100, or $200 on the table (more than her salary, similar to the AC bargirl). Will she LOVE that big tip? Sure. Has she done anything to earn it? Probably not. Her level of service next time she runs into me? She will not be nearly as eager to give a high level of service, which she should to every customer.

How important is the tip to the girl? It can't be as important as being nice to them (polite), and having a good time (out for a drink or bite to eat before heading off to the hotel, or breakfast in the morning). No kidding, those things count for more than the tip. Don't believe it? 3 in 10 of my new AC barfines will still be with me at lunch the next day -- that's after breakfast and the p100 tip, they stay into the afternoon. I have several previous former barfine girls (dancers and waitresses) that are happy to come find me after their shift ends, head out for some food, back to my place for the night, and spend the next day, repeating again at 1am when the shift ends. They never ask for money; I often drop p500 in her purse when they do that. Sometimes I barfine one of them; it makes her day.

Seeing it better now? She's willing to bang evening, morning, and hang the next day; all for meals and 500 pesos. THEN she will do it again. If she's a new barfine, she's willing to do all that for p700 (half the barfine). Some of you are tipping more than her total expectation. When you tip large like that, it pleases the girl, makes you appear generous (you are), and creates an expectation on the girls part for other guys (reference Henio).

I agree with the parameters on tipping set forth in the previous posts. And I certainly don't want to confuse anybody not familiar with the P4P scene in PI, but the pricing and tipping norms in AC are completely different than the pricing structure in MNL where much higher "tips" are expected.

If you head down to Manila (Burgos to be exact) expect to pay a lot more. The barfines are in the 1500p - 2000p range and the girls will expect 2500p - 3000p ST and 4000p and up for LT quality service. It's a different world. I think the word tip is misleading in MNL. Think of it as the service charge. Drinks are a lot more expensive too.

+ Burgos barfine 2000+2500tip+drink is maybe p5000 (I understand EDSA similar).

+ AC barfine+tip+drink p1500-2000.

+ Cebu barfine recently was p1700+tip for p1800-2000. I asked a mama if a tip was necessary; she said its up to the customer but not necessary.

+ Freelancers in Manila p1500+100tip was p1600. One recently offered friends for future sessions, then offered a 3-some, and brought another girl the next evening for a wild marathon session. Agreed in advance was LT for both girls to include breakfast, p2000 total. They came back multiple nights.

+ Freelancers in Cebu were recently happy at p1000+100tip for p1100. Two of these not only asked for a repeat, but also offered up their friend/cousin for service.

What do you gents give chat-mates? I slip them p500 for an afternoon session, p1000 if they spend the night. Or, if we are in the mall after breakfast and I have not given them anything yet, I buy them some stuff. My chat-mates almost always want another chance, or don't want to leave at all. On occasion I have one refuse the money, asking only taxi money.
