I'll second Giobotto's sentiments on the people and physical environment of Jakarta. I took the bus a lot which was hot but fun. The young people there give their seat to elderly and women which is very polite. I had one of the best DIAs ever in Jakarta. She had HUGE knockers and we banged 5X in 24 hours. A recent record for me. On our second date she brought a girlfriend who was younger, hotter and even bustier! The three of us had a fantastic time. One of my best times ever! When I go back in October I'm going to take her to Bali, possibly with another of her girlfriends. Sorry, guys, no contact info. I'm keeping this one for me.
I can totally understand that bro. A lot of these girls are not the type you can necessarily pass around. You need to get to know them and let them like you. There are some straight up P4Ps on the dating sites, but those are a different kettle of fish. Thinking about the Jakarta environs, yes it's not easy to find parks (ok there is one around Monas and whatever happened to Taman Ria Senayan) but the city grows on you in a funny way and you learn to find little havens here and there; you also learn to time yourself to avoid the worst of the traffic. Is it strange to find myself having withdrawal symptoms if I haven't come back here for a month?
I came in as a newbie. I discovered Jakarta's lack of infrastructure and mass transit. Its a miserable city but the people. In the day time it was miserably hot and polluted. Traffic is bad and its doesn't seem like there is much to do. I rarely saw a park or a nice place. There are some interesting narrow streets and ghettos. a bit of a torturous place to live. I think 3 nights is enough time for a visit to Jakarta.
More so than most cities, Hotel in Jakarta makes a big difference. One that's like an oasis is what you need. IF you want to go cheap, or you're just low budget, you're liable to conclude something like this guy did. There's a new Sofitel that's being built near to the Mercure, Looking forward as soon as it's ready.

MD II
I know exactly what you mean. Jakarta is a dirty, smelly place with way too many cars (although during Idul Fitri the streets are mercifully empty and you can actually see the mountains that surround the town). But it is like you say: it grows on you and you can never really leave.
Now the next day I was at Ambaraukmo Plaza, the swankiest mall in Jogjakarta. There's a newish star-rated hotel next to it, the Hotel Ambarukmo. On the opposite side of the street, just before where the warung nasi kambing is, there is a seafood restaurant.
I.
Well as you wrote such a nice detailed report I remember some practical yogyakarta info.
If you pass Ambarukmo plaza (it is on your left side) , just continue straight on and you will see a pertamina station (really not far). Just behind the station turn left and follow the road for a few minutes (I am talking about a motorized vehicle). This road will lead you to some nice local music bars where local students hang out. I never saw any bule (especially the usual lucifer / ruiz crowd) hang around there. It could be interesting to see what you can get there, especially if you are around for more then a few days. If you would like something more organized. Just sit down at the family karaoke in this street (your left side / big sign / parking place / an ATM inside the sportcomplex nextdoor). No way you can miss it) and a guy speaking english quite well will approach you to offer girls. Pictures are provided on his cellphone. I do not know the prices but as it is hard to find in yogya some organized FS this could be your place.
Absolutely not. At least I would hope you guys aren't paying those kind of prices.
Hartono's has always been over priced. In my opinion, paying $300 in Jakarta for a short time girl who is not some kind of star is a bit nutty. You can find hot girls all over town!
H
I almost got a heart attack when I read those prices.
Most I paid in jakarta was around 1. 4 juta, which included 1 hour excellent roomservicecallmassage and 1 hour FS in a 4-5 star jakarta hotel for quite perfect looking local midtwenty girls. Which is still to much in my opinion but they know what you pay for the room and they know the massage heated you up (2 hours massage in a 4-5 star hotel should be around 400. 000 ). On the other hand it includes you just staying in your room without having to face traffic, getting hot outside and lose time. Short term, less girlfriendfeeling though. But o so perfect bodies and face. Excellent service.
Most I payed in Bali kuta was 700. 000 for a full (well 4 hours.) night.
Streetwise full night in medan around 600. 000 total. But watch out what you pick up qualitywise, they may look good but are drugged most of the time.
Nowadays I prefer dating websites and if I do not have time or just want a professional treatment without hassle afterwards I go to the more "little" jakarta massage spa's which cost around 500. 000 for spa and 1. 5 hours of FS. Perhaps still not the cheapest choice timewise but pratical.
One mill, one and a half mill, two mill, three mill, before you know it you're talking serious money.
Am I too long out of the bar scene? Is that the sort of money that's being thrown around these days?
No wonder my never-ending supply of students from East Jakarta always insist on an extra fifty thou "buat ongkos" when I pay them my going rate of three hundred thou.
I used to think I was a big spender too, pelit buanget mister!
Well, I have spent that and also paid 400, 600 to others during my earlier stays. It all depends on the girl and whether your johny has developed the hots for her in which case, brain stops working. On a more serious note, people like me visit jakarta for 3. 4 days and attend meetings all through the day. So its difficult to really spend time trying to hook up girls and have to do the best with whatever is easily available. Maybe at a higher cost because the window of time is so short. The downside of waiting too long to bring down the price is that you may end up missing the girl and going alone for the night cursing that you should have agreed to the price, which has happened to me. This is the first time I spent 3 mill or for that matter even 1. 5 mill in jakarta. I have always stayed within 700 to 1 mill which is more or less the going rate for LT of better looking girls in CJs.
I wish I could stay longer and develop my own supply of students from east jakarta but not everyone is as lucky as you.

Has somebody participated on one of the JakartaAfterDark-Tours recently? Can those tours be recommended?

JAD experience
Hi Giotto,
You may remember me as the Rev. Spent a week at your wonderful place about 2 years back from south africa.
I found JAD tour absolutely brilliant and as a new guy in jakarta would not have been able to negotiate my way without this help from JAD.
Not only does he know his way around he is fun to be with and has a broad understanding of all things worldly and exp of the city and its delights. Spend the money you won't be disappointed.
Getting to lazy Giotto? Do some research.
Yep,
I am very lazy by nature. Did a search of JAD, found nothing. Search of JakartaAfterDark returned some results in 2011.
I thought there should be some more recent tour reports or recommendations. May be not.

Reports from the guy Jakarta After Dark 2 obviously deleted, links don't work. Was there an incident here in the Indonesia forum?

I begin to realize why he might have disappeared...the "Cheap-Charly" discussions. 50 USD for LT in Phnom Penh is - too much. I know. And please - DO NOT TIP!
Basically - I would NOT drive around in a taxi in Jakarta for 200 USD / 3 hours, even if YOU paid for the taxi fare.
