Thanks for the help.[/QUOTE]Stay in the vicinity of poblado / parque Lleras. It's the safest place for foreigners. Lots of restaurants and clubs, very walkable, and generally safe. Still, keep your head on a swivel don't take your eyes off your drink, and don't walk around with your pricey valuable phone out on display.

Also, a business casual outfit could be a good idea for the evening mingling near the Botero Plaza, or perhaps even a black tie, so one doesn't stick out too much in this classy area.

The FB and Seeking girls don't take the Metro. They take taxis so distance from Metro not important for mongering purposes.

What's the strategy here?

Between all the druggings and all the top tier girls traveling and the uglier ones trying to charge more in lleras it simply isn't appealing as a monger destination.

Guys are barebacking 200 mil hookers and bragging about it while aids is on a noticeable rise in mde.

Even the big spenders and simps realize it's not even that much fun anymore. Druggings of foreigners are a once or twice a week thing now. Robberies of foreigners is a daily thing.

As a mongering destination I don't think it's worth it.

I had a great time in Bogota. And I see Jaco is making a comeback so I might have to check that out also.

And as your post illustrates, walking around Centro later in the evening by yourself is not safe for anyone, whether your a monger or a local.

And yes, the guy you mentioned got stabbed with a small knife, and lots of locals carrying them, including the girls working the streets.

It's unfortunate that you, and others I know staying in Centro pretty much don't go out much after 9 PM because of the way things are there and I wouldn't be out either.

So in this particular instance MDE has become a mongering destination for them, and many others as well who used to frequent SEA.

Yet for others MDE has lost it's luster and rightly so for all the reasons you mention.

I don't think it has been said enough that the amount of attacks against Gringos are mostly unreported. Really the police think gringos are stupid.

A few months ago I was cut on my hand from a knife attack and as I was getting a bandage a cop was there and he quickly walkede away when he saw me.
