reminds of the case last year when the cebu police 'arrested' a couple for the [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord123][CodeWord123][/url] / murder of a minor very quickly after the crime had been committed, press involved, tv etc name of 'suspects' mentioned / pictures and of course the police spoke about collecting the reward that had been offered.
one problem that came to light soon after the arrest was the fact that the 2 'suspects' were seen on cctv at the waterfront lahug around the same time the police claim they were in taiisay about 40 minutes away. the other was the fact he looked nothing like the photofit artist impression!
did not deter the police who said that 'eye witnesseses" (namely young children) were the priority evidence over the cctv (!). and can they now claim the reward! the european guy still languished in jail for some time despite the norwegian consulate representative / government (i think also) etc getting involved and stating the blindingly obvious to the media and police!. who initially refused to accept the facts saying that they were right and everyone else was stupid. until manila got involved and showed how stupid they were.

This use of archaic laws has also impacted an old friend of mine recently (who is / was a long stay expat resident of the Philippines) , so much so that her left the country quietly but very suddenly with nothing leaving all behind (was far worse than offending the Catholic Church. It was alleged!)

Yet again, for the umpteenth time, whilst out this morning minding my own business, I was viciously attacked on the street by a Pinay carrying a dangerous weapon. What was it, I hear you gasp. A knife, a club, a gun? None if these. It was a fucking umbrella!
Carried by nearly all women including dessicated old sticks to whom the benefits are minimal, they are invariably locked and loaded and are used primarily to protect from damaging UV rays whilst perambulating in the street. But the vicious thugs that carry them have a secondary, hidden motive I'm sure. Held at just the right height and angle, they can cause maximum damage to the face and eyes of any poor, unwary foreigner that stray their way. And whilst without these nasty implements of carnage, Pinays drift from side to side like ballastless ships in a storm, with them they march in straight lines irrespective of the poor, defenseless souls that lie in their path. Which is usually me and I have the scars to prove it!

I'm sure the movement was started by the Pyongyang chapter of the 'Ittee Bittee Tittee Committee' and not the men of NK as the article suggests.
