It took me five minutes to find these two photos on the internet. I don't know who they are and don't know their ages, but I'd bet they're both at least well into their 40's. I suspect one of the reasons Western mongers don't see the more attractive older Filipinas is that those women are living better lives. Lives of poverty, as is typical for Filipinas in prostitution, is what ages some Filipinas. It's not island life per se.
I visited one of our expat members in the Phils a couple years ago. He's quite a bit older than his wife, and she is an attractive woman in her mid 40's. A friend in the states married a Filipina waitress he met in Hong Kong. She's about 20 years younger than him and now in her late 40's. She is gorgeous.
Some of our well-established expats remind us all the time that the slice of women most mongers are exposed to are poor women with hard lives. They are not representative of all Filipinas. The Philippines is a whole lot bigger than bars in Angeles, Cebu, Ermita, and Burgos.
I suspect that the "not aging well" hypothesis derives from the sub sample of Filipinas who are largely from rural areas, for the most part not well educated and who have spent much of their lives in hard, manual labor. A life of subsistence farming, toiling in all weather year after year, is not particularly conducive to maintaining one's looks, let alone top physical health. There is, as Mr. Smith points out, a strong correlation between the devastating effects of poverty and the maintenance of physical attractiveness. As Mr. Smith accurately states, it's not attributable to island life per se, but to socio-economic circumstances. For those capable of and willing to lift their eyes and expectations a bit beyond the bar girl / tinder / prostitution scene, there is a broad vista of alternative possibilities. But, exploring that world takes a bit of work, some persistence, and the commitment to broadening one's horizons a bit. I understand that those here for only a limited time and dedicated to two or three weeks of pure hedonism may not be willing to make the effort and that's understandable. But it is illuminating perhaps to realize that this country offers a plethora of other opportunities unavailable in normal monger venues.
