This is very disturbing. It definitely is an inside job. Mimi the owner has been in the business for a long time and takes care of regular LE. This looks like a con job by some guys who may or may not be real cops. You should have confronted the person. Normally when you do so they don't press much, unless you are caught red handed. But I can understand that it is easier said than done when your prime concern is saving yourself from disgrace if friends and family come to know. You seem to be close to "see" but I don't know if you are aware that her boyfriend is a lower rung cop. I don't think it is her though. NEs are usually simple and straightforward. If they like you, or don't like you, they will tell you straight in your face and nothing behind your back.
