As I've spent the first half of my month long stay here in Poblado I must say that while my regulars have been good the newbie scene is a little slower than in August. Been stopping into the Mansion and it's been slower than expected. Plenty of the regular girls but not a lot of new blood. Did meet one a couple of weeks ago that's been a delight. I like the ones who come to the city for the first time, hear about the Mansion and want to make a little money. They seem more a little more non-pro to start with and enjoy just hanging out, eating and overnighting.
Had my fair share of regular chica drama. You know, car accidents, sick nephews, sick kids and eviction notices. All of course with the solution of pesos to fix everything. But I must say the level and frequency of drama is much less than I've grown accustomed to having lived in Haiti for a number of years. Mind you the Haitian and Dominican men and women are masters at conjuring up some reason they need help. I had a maid there in one of my homes who every year at Christmas we mourned and buried her grandmother. Mind you, she was a live in maid for $75 a month, so you just sort of roll with it and keep a straight face. But here in Colombia I do appreciate that regular girls like to spend time with you but are less drama needy. Not say they don't have some, but it's less for me.
If you're looking for a good inexpensive massage, I've tried the Garage a couple of times in the Rio Center. One hour is 100 K, 70 K special on Saturday. First time the girl was straight legit massage, which is what I was looking for. Second time, the girls doing a good job but I notice kept removing my towel and was pretty open about a full body experience. Laying face down for the back massage she suddenly jumps up on top of me and starts massaging me with her bare legs. I have been to Colombia a few times. Been to Cartagena once and Medellin several. For those of you considering Cartagena, is say stay away. It really sucks in terms of a cool vacation spot. The weather is hot. Its got a seedy feel to it, especially by the clock tower. While I enjoy the new area hotels, and the beauty of old town, I was very much under heat alert as it is 100% humidity and felt like 120. I was dripping sweat from the moment I would step out in the day.
So that's why I recommend, Medellin! What a beautiful country with the beautiful looking women, the beautiful scenery of being in a bowl like country with green jungle trees between high rises. I recommend when staying, book a hotel on Airbnb. You can actually get better rates by connecting with those AIRBNB host on google via their website. Saves you about 40%. I like to stay in Poblado where the new nicer high rises are, and its safe and clean. Below I will try to give a quick guide for the many things I have experienced in MDE.
1. I have never stayed overnight in Parque Lleras. However this is where most people tend to go at night for fun. While its a cool spot to walk around, drink, have fun, I found more fun outside.
2. When I went to Medellin, I was introduced to this big ass Colombian dude who I'm sure some on this forum might know. I think his name was Julian or something like that. Anyways he's very well connected with Americans, he has contacts with chicks, and drugs. He invited me to a few mansion pool parties with the baddest looking chicks. If you're looking for him, all you got to do is ask some regular Americans who might look like theyre part of the game. I lost all my WhatsApp contacts last year on accident.
3. Meeting chicks: In MDE, you can meet chicks anywhere. My recommendation. Stay off Tinder. I heard about the Asian American kid out of California who was drugged and killed last year. People need to be extremely mindful. The best trick to finding cool girls is first getting connected. If you have a friend who visits often, ask him to connect you with friends via facebook. FB is the best spot to meeting cool chicks, having a great time with good chicks, and getting best bang for your buck. ID say no more than $100 for a full 24 hours.
4. Safety: I will share with you what someone shared with me. "In Colombia, people are people are very poor. Someone can hire someone to kill you for $100". So be mindful in Co. No one is out to kill you if you don't do anything wrong. But mess with the wrong people, and there can be trouble found.
5. Party favors: Tussi is the big thing out here. Its expensive. Cocaine is considered the poor mans drug. You can ask a taxi drive to get you some and drop it off. Ill be honest. When I went I was a big stoner. I needed weed after my flight. My taxi driver took me into the hood of Medellin. I mean about 15 minutes away from Poblado into a really dangerous looking area. Right when I got there, I recall a race and chase of guys on motorcycles and cops. My cab driver had me hide and put my head down for a few minutes. We looped around and came back, drug dealer was standing nearby and my driver went in to pickup my goods.
6. Massage places: I'm not a fan. I don't personally find a girl I can have fun and form a connection with then 1 hour of fun.
7. Strip clubs: I am a big fan of La Isla. The girls are beautiful. Imagine Hong Kong in Tijuana, without as many dudes, and more women. Prices are not expensive at all.
8. Other places ot checkout: I highly recommend everyone checkout the bars and restaurants in Laureles. If there is a soccer match, definitely go! Take the trolley ride up. You can go to Comuna 13. You can go to Guatape. MDE has cool places to checkout. There is a sunset spot up the mountain that most people go at night.
I will try to give back more to this forum and others. I have only just got my account. Expect more in the coming weeks. I am asking if people can help guide me for my future Thailand trip please!

I never use the debit cards for purchases, or very very rarely; that might be why I've not had problems.

Obviously you can't do that at an ATM, your best bet would be to save those COPs for a future trip, but if you had excess pesos and wanted dollars then you would have to use an exchange place. That being said that's not a bad rate for going in reverse. I'm sure their rate for going from dollars into pesos is lower and that is when a Davivienda ATM and a cap one or schwab card will come in handy.

If your bank charges a transaction fee and, or a currency exchange fee, the rate is better than the ATM.
Generally speaking, exchanging currency at the airport is a bad idea. The rates are always terrible. On the same day, in the Bogota airport I was offered 3300,3700, 3850 and 4200 when the rate was 4300.

I know this is not the thread to discuss Medellin hotels but the Medellin Hotel thread is dead. There have been only like 8 posts in 1 month and lots of crickets in between posts. Nonetheless, was wondering if anyone could recommend hotels with following things:
1) Girl friendly- allow different girls daily at no charge. I am okay with paying for the 2nd girl in the same day as I only do 1 per day.
2) Relatively near Parque Lleras area, not to exceed about 0.5 km or like 10 minute walk max from there.
3) Nice, 4 star rated . Good size rooms.
4) Cost / Budget- Up to about 120 us dollars per night.
I like the Hotel DuParc but rates really shot up to almost 160 per night. I have stayed at the Mansion but found it noisy in the morning, older, and I have plenty of chicas lined up.
I checked the Hotel Dix and its sold out for my dates (week after Thanksgiving).

Schwab has been remarkable consistent. Over the many years I have had an account with them a decline has never happened. But it is important to always have a plan be. Sometimes a particular ATM will not take the card or rejects it. Sometimes I have to place my cart into the ATM more than once before it takes it. On my last trip a transaction was declined. I was moving around in the USA and I always have problems with my financial institutions (bunch of mother fuckers if you ask me). It took a little time on the phone to figure everything out. My movements had tripped the AI fraud detector even though I had filed my travel notices. After I got off the phone with them, everything has been working fine. Some people take a really negative view of everything.
Now it should be noted that I have had ATMs snatch my card twice. Called Schawb. They had my card to me in two days on their dime. But the first time I had to borrow money from my friends I was with and many of them are the cheapest of the cheep mother fuckers. I like the ones that are generous like I am. But I learned my lesson and keep cash as a back up. Second time it did not phase me at all as now I keep two banks. Banks fucking with my money is the reason I prefer crypto.
Exchange rates are a fact of life for the international traveler. I remember when I first started posting here people were clowning on me because I exchanged money at the airport. Enough to get me my girl waiting to give pussy via a taxi ride. Talk about a bunch of cheep mother fuckers. [B]Damn![/B] My advice is just to make sure you are not being a penny wise and a pound foolish. Calculate how much you are giving up for each transaction. Unless you are moving serious money (sometimes I do and sometimes I don't) it really should not matter to a person who has paid for their passport, a plane ticket, hotel room and lodging for their trip. Hit the gym so you can build the guns that allow you to carry your stack and spend it. Money means nothing in life. Other than what it can get you to improve your life.
First time to Medellin and first time poster. I'm 40 years old from California and my Spanish is not so great. I'm very interested in connecting with some mongers and making some friends as I'll be in Colombia the next 3 to 6 months. I'm a bit nervous due to the reports of people being drugged. First round is on me!
