Well said! Phuket is definitely quite fine right now! The Sheraton Laguna is charging just $40 per room, down from $200 + last year! And the girls are very mellow, and hungry for paying customers!

I too like to stay outside Patong, just go in and grab a partner for the night, send her back next day by Tuk tuk.

In travelling around, I stopped often in Kamala, between Patong and Bangtao. Last year it was great, with over 20 bars and a great selection of girls. Those girls seem to have a much less pushy attitude, and are friendlier that their Patong sisters. It got hit very hard by the tsunami, and is still rebuilding, so many of the bars I used to frequentare still in ruins or boarded up. However, there are a suprising number of interesting bars opening. Most have a small selection, but the quality tends to be fairly high.

3 bars have finally reopened on the beach road, with a small selection of lookers, but the major suprise was on the main road. At the south end, Mountain View bar had 6-8 girls of which 3 would do just fine (beware the 2 katoeys!). The middle of the strip had 3 bars on the east side, 2 on the west with again from 3 to 6 lookers in each.

At the north end, the Crazy bar had 15 girls, of which 8-10 were very presentable!

As the quantity is small, every time I went back I saw approx the same number, but the girls were different, depending on who had been barfined that day!

All in all, a very pleasant and much more relaxed alternative to the arm pulling opprtunities in Patong, good for an occasional break from routine. (though I suspect I would be rapidly bored if that was all that was on offer on the island!)

One hotel that is NOT girl friendly is the Baan Sukothai on Bangla Road, I tried to book there from the Airport and they said I would have to pay 1000 baht a night joiner fee even if the room was booked for two people----we should all boycot these hotels and they may have to think again.

Was back in Phuket for the first time in 2 years, and was astonished at the damage in Patong & how it had changed. Was staying in Laguna for a Business thing – not the best spot, but opportunities can always be found.

Night 1 was spent cruising Patong the bars & shaking off the unwanted couples company. Settled on a cutie “Kong” 1500 all night. Got a room at the C&N hotel for 600B and was a bit shy, but got going as the night wore on. Good GF experience. Gave her a generous tip & took a Tuk Tuk at 7am to get me to Laguna Resort for my 8am meeting! Photo in Photo Section.

Night 2 was less enjoyable. Went to Rock Hard as I had enjoyed girls from there before with great attitude & skill. Pulled a right unfriendly one, “Apple”. Poor service & terrible attitude that all appeared when we got to the hotel. Should have left early, but just slept instead. LT 3000B.

Got to Chistin’s massage one afternoon. Fantastic, just as I remembered it. Took Girl No. 5. 2300B for the rub & tub, CBJ, DATY, FS. This is a must do for anyone going to Patong.

Back in Shanghai now, then some fun in Tokyo planned for mid June.

I can see that all of my posts on the previous guide no longer exist here, but I will be brief this time.

Stop paying too much for the girls, you are just fucking it all up for everyone else. ST from a bar = $500 and LT is $1000, ST from a GoGo Bar is $500-800 and LT = $1500-2000. Plus you must pay the bar fine $200-500. (All prices are negotiable everywhere and if you don't talk about the price and negotiate it up front, you're just a fucking idiot screwing things up for everyone) ALL prices are down after the tsunami for ALL of the girls because there are almost no customers. This means that the hottest girls at all of the bars, who wouldn't normally even give you a second look, are now agressively competing for customers and willing to lower thier prices (and expectations)

Another thing, avoid ALL of the massage parlors, especially Christin's. $2300+ for 90min! Do you really think this is a good deal? Especially since most of the girls there are NOT that good looking or give great service. It's easy to find day time activity, just politely start up a conversation with the bars girls on the street. Be respectful, as they are not at one of the bars and it is the day time where everyone can see, but if they are bar girls they should all be willing to go with you for $500 ST (no bar fine!) I've had girls stay with me all afternoon (sex 3-4 times) for $500. Of course, I gave them an extra tip or just asked them to stay LT for $1000.

It used to be easy to tell all of the new people to read the fucking forum (rtff), but after the change there isn't that much good info left. Just don't be stupid and pay Western prices. Have fun!

if I compare the prices today with the ones 20yrs ago not much have happened due to better exchange rates. Exchange rates also reflect the strength of the economy and depend on inflation. Overall prices (cost of living) increased over that period of time, so the absolute increase in prices justify the absolute increase in the girls payment.

I guess during the last 20yrs there had been thousands if not millions of guys overpaying, but that had no effect on the average price. So I do not see your point.

Furthermore, some of these lovely ladies have lost friends or part of their family and I - besides others - do not want to take advantage out of their misery.
Be fair, pay them well and have a good time. I guess you go to Thailand to have fun and not to save money.

Even the ones with permanent boyfriends could become "available" given the right incentive, but why would anyone want to start jacking up prices when just as good looking girls are in Tai Pan, right across the road, every night?

I respect your opinions and have enjoyed your contributions as well. However, there is still no need to overpay. If you want to overpay a girl just because she happen to be a bar girl in Phuket and there was a tsumani there, then I think you're just going to be taken advantage of. I live in Phuket and I know the girls very well. I know it sucks and I know it's terrible to say, but the truth is, the tsunami is just one more way to scam the foreingers out of more money. Yes, they may have lost some friends, and perhaps some family (if their sister/mother/cousin was also working as a bar girl, since Phuket girls won't work in Patong), but if the girl is currently working in the bars, then she was probably not harmed in any way. The girls who were really freaked out by what happened have all left Phuket for Pattaya or elsewhere. It was no doubt a very scary experience for everyone. I lost a lot friends too. Girls work in the bars for a variety of reasons, and they also have a variety of "stories" to tell customers so that they take pity on them and give them more money.

Unfortunately, many of the stories are true, but many are not. Again, I don't want to sound like an asshole for saying any of this, but the purpose of this forum is the help others and to educate newbies. There is no doubt that the bar girls in Phuket will be using the tsunami to get simpathy (extra cash) from customers, even if they weren't in Phuket when it happened. -this is coming directly from the girls mouths. P4P girls will ALWAYS accept extra money for their services. Perhaps I was too stern with my previous post. Just pay the standard wherever you are. If you were in BKK or Pattaya, would you give the girls $1000 over the standard? I hope not.

I think 1000bath for LT for a night of great sex with a beautiful bar girl is basically for free. If I had a good time I'm very happy to give a 1000bath tip. If not I will kick her out before the night is over.

Back home in Europe I used to pay 50 euro (2500bath) for a 15 min. quick one with a not so nice girl. So a full night with a stunner for 2000 bath is still a steal.

And don't tell me I'm "screwing it up" for others. A few guys paying good tips won't drive up prices. Too many cheap Charlies around for that ;-)

why debate the price someone else pays...It is after all a subjective quantity from both parties involved in the negotiations.

I understand that some might feel that if too many punters pay too high a 'tariff' that the overall price will be driven up.

I do not feel that this is a logical argument.

If a 'buyer' sets his mind to making a 'purchase' for only X00 bath he can find a 'seller'. If a 'seller' sets her 'price' at X000 baht she can find a 'buyer'.

This is how it is. There are too many factors to consider to begin any accurate measure of price fixing.

The important thing is if you enjoyed yourself. Who can put a price on that?

I pay what I feel is appropriate at the time, no one can say what the maximum should be because of the varying quality of the girls. Suppose a real little stunner asks you for 3000 LT, you can try to bid her down but if she refuses to budge you have to pay it---or lose her to someone who will.

don't worry, I got your comment ther right way.

All I say is, that nobody should pay less than the going rates just because the tsunami led to fewer customers. I always pay on performance, no matter if I could get away with less. I also find this bargaining that so many guys talk about very disturbing. It kills my mood.

Within over 20yrs in Thailand I was only asked by a handful of girls how much I will pay them. I never tell them in advance because I don't know. So my answer usually goes like "if you are cheap to me, I will be cheap to you as well, but if you are generous, I will be generous too".
I usually get a smile and no talk about money anymore. I understand why they want to know, a lot of cheap charlies around but the girls are often experienced enough to see what kind of person you are.

Only once a girl insisted to fix the price beforehand. She was stunning but my answer was that she gets no money at all. She hadn't expected an answer like that so I explained her that she gets no money because I won't take her. I only take girls that do like me and not just go for the money - or at least make me feel like that.

JRC - maybe... but IF the traffic is 2000, and she wants 3000, she might sleep alone. It used to be that they referred to some of the areas as "soi-ha-loi-baht" after 2AM (500 bhat street) for OBVIOUS reasons. Pay what you NEED to pay to get the QUALITY you WANT (myself, I'm "cheap charlie" - hasn't diminished the quantity)

In my limited experience, 8 visits since Jan 2001, I find that by 2 am there are very few stunners available, they have all been taken---by guys who are willing to pay them a generous fee. Some guys prefer to pay 500 baht for a girl who looks like she has been hit in the face with a wok, each to his own.
