Since most of you are using taxis while in Guadalajara, here are some important notes about the prices. This is copied from Wikitravel, where I just edited the Gdl taxi information. Remember not to pay the ridiculous prices the drivers ask for at first!

Taxis are another option if you don't want to try to figure out the buses. You can either agree to a price with the cab driver or ask him to turn the meter on. Using the latter option, there is a risk that driver doesn't the take the shortest possible route if he thinks you don't know it yourself. As always, be sure to ask the fare before you get in. Cabs cost more at night or when they have to cross the outer ring of the city. Day-time fares should never exceed 100 pesos within the city and almost always the price should be even under 50 pesos. The drivers almost always quote a ridiculously high price for foreigners but you just have to be persistent. At night-time, the prices are doubled. As a rule of thumb, at day-time the fare is about 3-4 pesos per kilometer and at night about 8-9 pesos but if the driver is using a meter, there's also a starting price of around 5-10 pesos.

Fares for the airport are set. If arriving at the Guadalajara airport, a taxi monopoly provides the service (about 200 pesos for service to the Centro Historico) from the airport. Pre-purchase your taxi ride at the booths outside of the arrival halls. You can take a normal taxi to the airport, though. The price is around 150-200 pesos depending on where you are coming from.

gringo8, i don't know anything in that immediate vicinity -- you'll need to go back to the east, towards the center of town but it will be a short drive, maybe 10 minutes. I was at a “table dance” club in Guadalajara last Friday. Around 4:00 AM, woman nearest to me, at the next table, part of a group, asked for my drink (rum & coke).

But let me ask you something how in the name of the lord did you venture to those places? , not even a Mexican with many years of experience in Zonas Rojas, clubs, parlours, teibols you name it would go there. Those places are poor, filthy, full of gordas and in sketchy zones of the city, if you go there you are asking for trouble. I stopped going to "tables dance" becasue I always felt insecure, and yes I'm a mexican, if I have to go to one table dance the minimum place acceptable on my list would be one of the Juniors and with some reservations that place is still cheap but you might find some hidden jewels sometimes, I rather go to the golden paradise, Dklub or candys girls, and still always on my guard because you never know. 15 days ago and after a year of tables retirement I decided to give it a try again, and went to Candys club in Av Vallarta, cover is 100 pesos and includes a "sexy" or lapdance with any girl and like any other club all the staff is really annoying they always want tips even for showing you where the bathroom is, just say no, that later you are going to tip them or that you don't have cash. I was really suprised by the quality of the girls they have in there, I hook up with one named "sabrina" its a cute girl white skin, beautifull face, green eyes, and a perfect natural body, no silicon the real stuff. I invited her a drink, 200 pesos I think, chated for a while, used my free lap dance with her and then I decided to hit the " full privado" 20 minutes of sex for 2200, wich was a really good investment, because I got a really good sex with a girl that looks like my Gf and that I could take with me to dinner to any restaurant, to my parents house, or with my friends to vango or any other club and she would fit in perfectly shes educated and I think she got some undergrad title, she used to be a model but got tired of her bosses to persuade her to do more than modeling as always happens in that bussines, and got hooked by the easy money and decided to work in a "teibol". I have done what Anonimo did, pay big bucks for sex in a strip club, but only once in Guadalajara, in Ramses Mens Club. And it was worth it.
