How great is this? I've managed to blag 6 days and nights in Jakarta in early July. I'll be like a dog with 2 dicks (or I reckon I'll need 2 dicks). I'm busy planning my agenda already: Maribaya spa, Kartika, BATS etc. So many ways to have fun. Might even try a trip with brother JAD. And to cap it all I get 2 nights in Surabaya at the end of it. Life is goooood

Being with 3 girls in Jakarta isn't exactly difficult.

But that's not me. The girl I see occassionally gave me that EXACT same sob story about coming home and finding her boyfriend in bed with 3 girls, etc etc etc. Either it's the same girl or that's the story of the month for these girls. They do like so find a story they like and share it among friends.

Based on some of the reports posted here recently, decided to go to the Central massage place at Mayestik. Came in and asked for the "pake". I was quoted 485k for an hour. I declined because 485k for an hour of massage/FS is above market rates ! The Dewi and Monna mentioned in earlier posts were not working on that very day.

I then went to "Bersi Sehat" next door -- a very clean massage joint (no extra's) but great massage for 120k (90mn).

I have not been to Tiga Pulu in a while. Has the place really gone down the drain, or is it still alive and rocking? I seem to meet quite a few folks who used to hang out at Tiga Pulu and who now have changed quarters (BATS, CJ's etc.).

Was back in Jakarta last week. Started off well by being tricked in the airport. Was looking for a Silver Bird taxi and refused a lot of other offers, did not tell anyone I was looking for Silver B, but a guy came up and asked if I was looking for that so I confirmed. He pulled out his wallet and showed a Silver B logo, but think it was just a paper copy or something. Anyways, followed him to his car and it was def not SB, but it was new and clean so I thought what the heck, ended up paying 350k, which I guess is totally overprice... I usually get picked up at the airport so it was the first time I had to manage by myself. Guess I will do better next time.

The driver did get me safely to Hotel Muliah though, and well inside I was happy to see that this is also the hotel for a lot of aircrews so I thought I might get lucky with a stewardess later. My first meeting with CJ's made me forget all about aircrews though, what a happening place :)
Only downside is that there were more than enough guys, so it was crowded and not that easy to really get around and see all the girls. Settled on one that met my standards though, and was happy to find that she could communicate reasonably well in English. She also had a bunch of friends there. Wasn't sure if she was WL or not, so took it slow, bought her a drink etc. She told me her ex-boyfriend was also from my country, which I figured was a nice pickup line.
Later when I took her up to my room, things went haywire though. First she seemed very drunk. Then she started crying! I wasn't exactly sure why, but I think it was because of her ex or something. Anyway, I decided not to push it, so actually offered her to sleep it off in her own bed (there were two beds in my room), but she soon found the strength to get going on me. However, the sobbing/crying was on and off more or less the whole time, so it wasn't really pleasant. I asked her repeatedly if she was ok, which she confirmed though. In the end I got tired of it, so just stopped and said that we should sleep. She called a friend and gave the phone to me, the friend said she was sorry, that it was this girl's first time in "town" but that she would like some money :) I just said ok, ok, ok, and we went to sleep.
Next morning I did pay her - 500k which I understand should be the going rate? And wished her luck. Not going to seek her out again.
Sadly that was my only night. So already looking forward to the next time.

One amazing thing happened though. I while back I did hook up with a real freebie, an upper class girl who I am quite sure would not accept any of my donations. But through some very unfortunate events I managed to lose her number. As I was leaving Jakarta I ran into her again - daytime - in a totally different place than we had met earlier. What's the odds for that?! So exchanged numbers again and at least there is a chance for repeat now.

My experience is that it has definitely gone down the drain - sadly, as I always stay at the Meridien. As always, some nights are better than other (weekend) but it's nothing like it was a couple of years ago. It was at its best when BATS closed down a few years ago but declined when BATS re-openned and really declined after it was "renovated" last year. I have been in the some mid-week nights recently and there hasn't been one single girl I would take even if I was desperate - and that is a serious indictment!

Tiny 12's story is very typical of what happens with "non WG's" who you find in the up-market malls: without doubt you always pay much much more "per occassion" over the long term with this kind of girl buying "presents" etc. "Long term" in this context can be a few days or weeks or months.

Objectively, as I sit here in UK, it's clear to me that it's lunacy, in Jakarta, to do anything other than go with WG's, pay them around 500k (plus or minus a bit depending on quality) and get as good an experience as you'll get anywhere with stupendous value for money. However, when I'm there, objectivity rapidly goes out of the window! The trick is to make sure the presents are chargeable to clients and/or tax deductable......

The problem 30 has is that it kept that black band around too long and it seemed to attract the "black" crowd. Not that black people are bad worldwide, but I think we all know that many of the blacks hanging around in Jakarta are best to be avoided. They are most often dealing drugs, and are basically up to no good. They used to be mainly at JJ's in the old days. I don't think it's a coincidence that JJ's is out of business. They are still in 30, but you don't see them in Bats or CJ's very often. It's killed their business, yet they do nothing about it.

Case in point, the recent incident in 30 where the hitam guy was supposedly robbed of over 10,000 usd he was carrying in 30. 30 and My Bar are the two places those people are hanging out, so I avoid both for the most part.

I think the current band in 30 may be the best one in town right now, it's a shame the place doesn't have the crowds anymore.

Have you figured out how to have a new car or apartment expensed? :)

Yes, totally overpriced but finally you should consider yourself lucky by getting out of the car at the right place with "just" paying 350k.
Such stories can end up in much worse scenarios. It's simply not worth the risk to drive with those guys for saving 20k or so.
Don't feel safe because you're in a car. You aren't safe.

Am I the only one to wonder what sort of business someone carrying 10k US around in a bar in Jakarta at night is likely to be into?

A leap of logic perhaps, but not a huge one, to suggest that perhaps he was a target irrespective of which bar he visited?

The stories of yesteryear bring back such sweet memories. My first night out in Jakarta was in JJ's following a short trip to Tanamour where I was involved in a dirty dancing that was on the top stage and nearly cost me my trousers ! From there to JJ's - to show how old it is it was when Leeds United were in the Champions League - what a strange memory to have.

The place would rock around the clock and we even had the driver sleeping in the car until we were ready to leave. Next morning my boss forgot his wake up call and missed his flight to Singapore.

Sadly all good things come to an end and when the drugs gang starting hitting it up was the time to stop going there. Next stop was 30 but that has sadly declined to the point where I have to agree with B69 in that the quality in there now is way below the past.

From there it moves to Mulia and when you have a rate of 70USD on thehotel it makes you lazy to move out and about. Much to my amusement one of the girls called me all sorts one night as they thought I lived in Jakarta - they overlooked the fact that i have business in Jakarta and therefore regularly frequent the place - sadly this means you realise after a while the limitations of the fishbowl and perhaps it is time to move on. Then again Batz is full of the expense account brigade who alas have a tendency to push the price up much to my amusement.

Life is becoming far too drole these days and perhaps am not the only one wondering where have all the beauties gone. Perhaps it is a sign of age or more likely we are faced with a current crop who are not as worthy as their predecessors - who are now all enjoying themselves at the expense of those who pay the regular bills.

There are the choices of the Panya approach - long term relaxed relationship - against the B69 approach and confess am of the opinion that it is the latter that is in the end more cost effective. What you need to do is find a nice circle of steadies in case another member has cast his net and hit on the same one and therefore you are left short for the night. This is a tactic that serves me well - on a recent occassion dulled by the poor crowd saw one of the steadies and even as she was being chatted up texted her to meet me outside and the rest as they say was history. Even had her ironing the shirt for the meeting the next morning - that is the beauty of Jakarta for you !!
