Not a good idea to underestimate the revolutionary spirit of the Cubans on that island. No one is taking over Cuba at least not in our lifetimes.
My understanding is that Cuba is not open, in fact they just made changes because of an increase in cases. When they do officially open it will be nationally first. Then tourists will only be allowed in the resorts. No cruise lines or flights from the USA. Covid is keeping us out of Cuba not Trump. When they stop the "Support of the Cuban people" category, then I will worry about traveling to Cuba. Until then I'm waiting on them to feel safe from covid-19 and I'm on the first flight going from America.

Toque de queda
Bad news folks. Cuban government just decided to implement curfew starting from 1 September. 7 pm-5 am, everyone must be at home. Not sure how long and how this is going to affect everyone here. Airports won't be open too. They are looking at November as the earliest time to open up again. I guess the new spike of daily 40-50 new cases daily got the government scared big time. Will keep you guys posted.
Earliest could be in November but at this moment, doesn't look too promising. 2021 sounds about right.
All I know is that when it is safe to travel again, like really safe, if the world economy is not in total tatters, it's finna be crazy. There's going to be so much pent up travel desire. Can you imagine meeting a fellow traveler in that outdoor area in hotel nacional with a rum in one hand and siglo 6 in the other? Absence makes the the* grow harder.

Anyone seen the Miami Herald article, Trump reimposed restrictions of bringing back cigars and rum from Cuba. Nothing about actually traveling though.
I see the two big hotels, close to Melia Cohiba are almost complete from the outside.
Those two new Hotels are ugly as shit. They do not fit in with Havana architecture at all. I was there back in March and was like WTF man?
