Ijust walk in the middle of the street where they can not reach you. Traffic moves so slowly anyhow so this have encountered no problem at all but ofcourse easiest if you walk towards traffic. Do you think that I am making a mistake by skipping the rice terraces? On every tourism guide book, it is on page 1. Are the buses modern, with reclining seats and AC? Or are they central american style chicken buses?

Manny51, I suggest you go to websites such as flyertalk.com or tripadvisor and read about tourism activities in the Philippines. Most ISG forum members concentrate on other pursuits.

I've been to Banue Rice Rerraces. It is beautiful but a very long and bumpy bus ride.

I don't know about Basco, but Baguio sounds like it has potential:

You know he can't pull the trigger and come to the PI. He's a total academic. Its just mind games he's playing. Time and again, I see these posters with their thoughtful responses to the Pearl, meanwhile he's on the beach in Cancun or somewhere, with his wife an 5 kidz, laughing his ass off. Everything he says has been gleaned from the 'real posts' that the real mongers post here. After reading enough of them, the Pearl passes himself off as if he knew the PI intimately like everyone else. The more you treat this guy as being legitimate, the more he will shat on you.

He knows only what others tell him and seems scared of his own shadow.

I know a few expats that walk around daily wearing very high-end watches (including myself) and never had a problem. *knock on wood*

Worked outside my home country on contracts, taking time off between jobs to travel plus had couple of jobs that were seasonal, with 6 months off per year. Had about 10 years of "retirement along the way." Took early retirement about 3 years ago as I didn't want to deal with the numerous Federal agencies that were eating up my life. Felt like I was living in a Kafka novel and pulled the plug.

Busses I rode were somewhere in between the two but don't expect anything luxurious. I broke my trip up into segments, so only spent around a max of 5 to 6 hours on any leg. No idea if you're making a mistake. WALDT=We All Like Different Things. Thought the caveat section in original post explained my preferences.

But then you mentioned the boat ride being 4 days so it threw me off. When I was in Coron last year the boat ride to El Nido was 11 hours I think.
