Sounds good to me, knocked up at 16 then turning to the casas to make ends meet. That won't change.
Also, you are right about other places, I find SSalvador equally or more appealing then MDE now, and will be.
Trying other places.
This is an example of a city that has two faces, one says Welcome Gringos, the other that says leave the Money here. If you want to invest I suggest you help support single Moms in the Casas and Clubs, hehehehe, been here 6 years, anyone here longer than me, see the changes? Last one out turn out the lights, really is nice to get to see other places from a Newbie perspective, so I will continue to see other SA an CA countries, whoops, late for the Black Jack tourny at the Casino Medellin.
...Now Medellin is listed in Top 10 exotic retirement places, Top 10 happiest people in the world, Top 10 exotic beach vacation spots in the way of Santa Marta, hell, who wants to tell them to stay home, its over here, kinda like Costa these days, the fun is gone.
Well reviews of happiness by Forbes and others list Costa Ricans as some of the happiest people in the world. So there must be a little fun left there. BTW Denmark consistently ranks at the top of the happy list. Wonder if social policy and attitudes could influence happiness?

Thats only true for really dum gringos with nothin to offer, I can't seem to get girls to stop calling me.
My biggest problem is getting rid of them and real studs such as Ricker will confirm my observations. Remember newbies there no room to be cynical in Medellin.
Hi, I have just arrived in Colombia and in some days I will reach Medellin. I'm thinking to sleep at direccion: Transv. 39B # 77-29 (Laureles). I know it is enough far from metro. Can you tell me if I will stay in the action or is it close to the action?
Do you know a furnished apartment close the Metro?
Thanks
Cia. Gov / factbook look this up!
I think optimism is good. I have learned spanish well during the last years and look forward to economic prosperity in Medellíand, the city in which I want to live in as retired.
Better economy means that skilled creative and energetic foreigners can (finally) make business with Colombia / Medellíand.
In terms of paying for services, prepagos or to marry a young sexy "paisa" Medellíand / Colombia will still be cheap beacuse the average age is very low and hence there are many people competing for the new jobs being created.
Argentina, in spite of the cyclical economic problems this country suffers from, is still the richest country in Latinamerica. Colombia lays behind and need more than 6-7 years to enter top 30 richest countries in the world.
I recommend Medellíand as a site to live in and run a business, preferably using the comparative advantages between Medellíand and Northmerica / westerneurope.
Females in this city, if not in the whole Colombia, are very beautiful and very accommodating.
I tell openly that I seek a marriage of convenience and many young beautiful feamles thinks that is great!
I have met few foreigners in the everyday life in Medellíand, almost everyone in Parque Lleras.
If it were not for the decent Massage here for little money I would move, LOL. Really guys, Nicaragua, Peru, and Ecuador, Hell, even Guatemala is far more fun, here its the wam bam slam the Man thats the norm these days. Its the economy here thats made the changes, facts, Colombia has the fastest growing economy in South and Central America, Colombia is predicted to be in the top 30 best economies in the world in 5 to 7 years, Now Medellin is listed in Top 10 exotic retirement places, Top 10 happiest people in the world, Top 10 exotic beach vacation spots in the way of Santa Marta, hell, who wants to tell them to stay home, its over here, kinda like Costa these days, the fun is gone.
It's all right in front of you. Start with the Lists, then read the reports back year. There are some great photos to entertain you along the way.
. I think optimism is good. I have learned spanish well during the last years and look forward to economic prosperity in Medellíand, the city in which I want to live in as retired.

Also posted on another forum as this complete trip report includes Medellin for 3 nights (72 hrs) and Costa Rica for 2 nights (36 hrs)
The Whirlwind Tour Trip Report."Getting laid in 2 different latin american countries on your Birthday"
Flash back to Late December, I was just recovering from my after thanksgiving trip and I was deciding where to go for my bday trip this year Costa Rica or Medellin, heavily leaning towards MDE, when I hear from a good friend on the telephone. He has to work in SJ for a couple days and says to me "why not BOTH" Tells me to book the RT to SJO and then offers up quite a birthday present, Since he wants to go to MDE before needing to be in SJO for a couple days for work. A ticket from SJO-MDE and back. Don't know how I can possibly turn down a good friends offer like that and this is exactly what he does. Find out a few other amigos are going to be along on this trip including Skosh, Phoenix Rising, Hanshin Baka and a newbie friend from Chicago. This is shaping up to be a good time.
Flash back to present day. Leave Tuesday morning 2/15 at 5:40 AM, land in SJO at 1:30 to look for to await our flights to PTY and MDE. Landing at 8PM to our hero's favorita con taxi awaiting us, with Rum, Coke and Ice. I give my amigos fav a ton of crap for not picking mine up on the way, but assures me she is primping for my arrival Have a few drinks on my way down the mountain and am ready and raring to go.
Arriving at 9PM at the hotel, my paisa has yet to arrive but I am assured she is on her way I quickly unpack grab a drink and start the room preparation. No need to go into details with her, but needless to say after a 14 hour travel day and 2 months away it was quite the reunion. Fall asleep in each other arms about 2 am after my 1st two leches of the trip, I am exhausted and we sleep until 11 am the next morning.
Awake to the noises of mis amigos on the balcony shooting the shit, time for Round 3 Finish up and head to the kitchen to order breakfast for us. Chat with a few amigos on the balcony while awaiting for Amada to deliver our food. Back to the room grab some energy from some food, and I am told / shown it time for Round 4. Since the jacuzzi got a firm workout the night before and my back is paying for it, I mention I need some TLC, got that and quite a bit more before it is time for her to head home to grab some clothes for TONIGHT at Palmitas. 4 leches down in 14 hours, a GOOD start to the trip.
Put her in a taxi with a promise of returning at 7 pm and check out who is hanging around. I run into Skosh at the table who ask about a trip to New Life. Make a quick call to Phx Rsing, he is at New Life with my newbie friend. Skosh and I grab a taxi and meet up with them 20 minutes later at the restaurant below New Life, the two of them had already sessioned including a great recommendation from Phx. Head upstairs with Skosh to check the lineup, nothing really gets the ole Tent rising. Decide to let Skosh make his choice (Phx's recommendation) and head back down to shoot the breeze with mi amigo while awaiting him. An HOUR later we are still waiting on him and wondering if he fell in.
Skosh finally comes down with an ear to war grin, beholding to Phx for the recommendation. By now Phx is ready for Round 2, and we tag along with him to Aiffe around the corner. We are ushered into the waiting room and shortly thereafter 6 cuties appear before us in panties and bras. Phoenix is getting a bit of a charge out of a cute little dark one (almost looked Dominican) Need I say more. Mr. Dom Reb decides to pull the trigger on her while Skosh and I head back to wait on him at the restaurant discussed prior, order a tipico Colombian plate which was very good for $5, 900 pesos (about $3).
Discussing this evenings events. 30 minutes later my phone rings, Phx is done, where are we. Meet back up, decide it is time to hit Pomona for supplies and head back to the hotel to clean up and await tonight FESTIVITIES!
Still no Dancer sightings since arrival, as his fav has him on serious lock down.
More to come.
Head to Pomona, pick up much needed supplies for the room as I had picked up a bottle of my favorite tequila along with a 15 yr bottle of Zacapa. In my haste to make my flight from sjo, (I only had an hour in between flights) I had grabbed a bottle of 15 instead of 23 we needed some mixers and I needed some cervezas why aquas para mi habitacion.
Arrived back at CB2 around 4 PM, unloaded and showered up, ran into Skosh, we had discussed dinner plans earlier that day with our favoritas. Roberto (not in town) and others had recommended : to me a Mexican / Italian place (name slips my mind) near Parque Poblado, Skosh and his lady friend had been there before but humored me and readily agreed to go. Received a call from favorita at 7 PM, necesito un poco tiempo bebe, es no problema. 30 minutos. NO problema bebe, hasta pronto. She arrives at 7:30, the four of us head out and enjoyed a very nice Mexican meal for 50, 000 pesos ($27 per couple including a round of drinks).
Left there at 9 PM to head back to CB2 for the festivities to begin, Had a couple Zacapas with Phoenix Rising (paying off his debt for his Jets / Bears loss) prior to his departure with Cubanut (who made a surprise appearance, great to see you again bro) for the evening. I will leave it to PR or Cubanut to fill in THOSE details.
10 PM and the group is gathering to head out, finally a Dancer sighting. Hear fromm him via telephone, meeting you at Palmitas, cya there. Skosh and I grab a cab with favoritas in tow to head to Palmitas, meeting he, Hanshin Baka and Good2Go con favoritas there we proceed to drink, dance and party the night away, until my date informs me its time to leave at approximately 2 AM.
Just a quick recap on pricing at Palmitas. 1 Bottle Cuervo. 1 Bottle Ron Medellin Rum. 2 bottles of Absolut, with all the trimmings and mixers the bill was a hair over 500K pesos. Or 100K pesos per man ($54). Pretty good deal if you ask me and a great place to hang out, dance, party and enjoy.
Head back to the hotel for some fun which last until the sun comes up, finally being "allowed" to sleep somewhere around 6 or 7 am who remembers. Out like a like we were until 11 am in which another round ensues. Followed by more SLEEP, finally arising tiogether at 2 PM Time to domicilio some food.
More to come later.
Men. I'm liking the optimistice reports, it seems like every time we start talking if a colomiana will actually truely love a gringo.
We get a lot of skeptics. For me if I can't get them to really like me I got to dump them.
Of course ill try buying thier love first. Hahaha
I'm curious and probably missing something here, but why do you call Medellin,"Medelliand"?
Yes you are missing the accent thing in your typing. Jackson has a filter that substitutes other characters. For instance the letter "-why-" gets transfrmed to the word why
I'm curious and probably missing something here, but why do you call Medellin,"Medelliand"?
Ricker the filter here capitalizes first letters after periods and much more. It tries to remove chatroom typing (x = por, q / k = que in spanish chats)
So 1.) it considers the accented í as if it were the end of a word 2.) sees the last letter in Medellin. (Go ahead, try posting just that letter) and decides to un-chat-room and converts it to the word "and". Hence the OP looks like he can't spell.
With no the accents:
ñ = and
ý = why
Just try typing one of those letters by themselves.
