The big difference is when in poblado or mongering as a foreigner we are specific targets. Whereas in the USA certain areas are generally dangerous. Look at yourself in the mirror if you don't resemble a Colombian you're a specific target to those that are in the business of drugging, pickpocketing, robbing, etc. If a thief in bello is looking to rob someone then they don't care who they rob. If they're robbing in poblado they're looking for a specific profile to target.
Colombia corners and Colombia reports, yes this helps me understand your sources. Anyway, I'm a simple guy so my perspective is not complicated. People who have had problems here should seriously consider changes to their routines or trying to get by someplace else. People who haven't had problems should stick with what's working. Crimes happen in big cities. Anyone to whom that is news should definitely get their antenna up.

I fucked up. This is my fault for not understanding the topic. I thought these posts dominating the conversation the past couple of weeks were about guys getting drugged and robbed. I do know a subset of the victims have turned up dead but I did think it was about murder rates in general. I have to own up to not paying as much attention to content here that isn't about girls specifically.

It is one of a series of three or four to illustrate a post that thanked City Hall for mounting police security operations in the neighborhood. I'm probably looking to go to the Rio Sur mall and find a place there. That's just 2-3 blocks from where I'm staying. It sounds like there are a few places on the 4th level that could be of interest. I'm really looking for more than a Happy Ending. Full service, ideally. Are there places there that are more prone to do that, than others? Would I be better off taking an 9 block walk to Jade Palace for this?

Your point is true and simple. If you fit the profile, you are a target. Uncontrollable. But you can mitigate those risks with any number of the tactics discussed on this board forever.
On a related note, while looking in the mirror. I have a theory. And it's partly common sense. It is wholly unscientific and not much more than speculation on my part. But I think that your size has alot to do with that. Again, seems fairly obvious. I'm generally cautious and aware. But I've put myself in some bad situations on multiple occasions by partying too hard. I'm not bragging; it's embarrasing. But no doubt I was an easy mark. But I'm a bigger guy. I'm not muscular, just heavy. More fuscle than muscle. Haha But generally speaking, I'm larger than latinos. So while I think luck has played a part, I also think that your physical size is part of the equation.
I couldn't help but browse the ads on Mileroticos. As a complete gringo visiting Medellin for the first time (that doesn't speak Spanish), should I even attempt this?
I'm obviously nervous about visiting anyone in their incall. . . . but I've also heard of horror stories inviting escorts to my hotel room.
Should I just stick to an overpriced experience at OM Spas or should I play the Mileroticos game.
