Medellin Reports

Arrived Saturday night late and stayed in Rionegro to pick up my rental car on Sunday. Was waiting for my ride to the hotel within 20 minutes after the door opened, short line. Learned upon arrival that my luggage took a detour. Finally got it Sunday night.

Had a lunch invitation in Envigado at Restaurante Viejo John, right off the park. Very popular place with a long line waiting for a table. Fortunately, my hosts were already seated. Excellent comida tipica and prices seemed reasonable, although I never saw the check. If you like Colombian food, it's worth a visit.

Monday night was date night. Made the mistake of trying Denver Grill in La Strada. Not worth it. There's a small gas grill in the middle of each table. If you order a steak, you cook it yourself on the grill. So far, not bad, until the 2 ribeyes showed up. Steaks were less than a half inch thick. Convenient for quick grilling, but not worth the 110 k each price tag. Came with 1 small side dish. Food was good, just not much for the price.

Last night I visited La Mayoria in the hills above Envigado. It's a large place which is probably packed on the weekends, although not many people there on Tuesday. Friday through Sunday they have horse shows of various types at the restaurant. I chose what was described as a thick cut sirloin and got a thick cut sirloin that may have been the best steak I've had in Medellin. Service was good and good views. Long ride by taxi, but it's only 12 minutes away from where I'm staying.

Monday night exposed my date to the bar at the Mansion. Only 2 girls there when we arrived, 1 more came in a few minutes later. There were no other customers. Bartender was cute, as were 2 of the 3 girls. The third girl looked pretty rough. Stayed for 1 drink before heading to La Isla. When we left it was only the doorman, the bartender and 1 girl in the bar.

Arrived at La Isla before 10 pm, lots of girls, no customers. They now charge 100 k cover for a girl, 50 k for guys. I'm glad they weren't doing that last year when I took 3 girls. The club slowly filled with customers, although not a big crowd. Two guys were periodically making it rain, which drew almost all the girls. Almost all the customers were gringos. As for the girls, they came in all shapes and sizes. Quite a few with grossly over inflated (to me) tits and asses. Quite a few were all natural. There are always enough options to satisfy most tastes.

Can't help much with lodging, because I'm staying at an apartment in the hills above Envigado, which my hosts had available. I didn't want to stay here, but they insisted. It's free, stocked with plenty of food and wine, in a quiet location, and comfortable, but it's not exactly a convenient location. I've been grabbing breakfast or lunch with friends and have a family barbecue to attend tomorrow night. Leaving on Saturday night on the last flight out.

Learned a lesson tonight. Had a girl say "mi hora es $X. " Seemed like she might be saying "mi hora" in the sense of my time, so I clarified saying I'd pay her for her time but might be longer than an hour or less than an hour, and I didn't want to be rushed. I thought it was pretty clear, she said okay. Sure enough, we meet, we chat, she takes photos of course, she shows me her TikTok, she cleans herself, and then as we're getting started she informs me of the time and is looking to get double her rate. I just had her finish me orally and got her out of there as quick as possible. One of the nice things about Medellin is you don't get the clock watchers as much as American providers, but should have recognized hora for the red flag that it was. I'm just ghosting any girls that use hora in the future, like as if they cited me their American dollar rate.

Primarily, imo, it's because the chicas here look at each of us as a potential reoccuring revenue source. I arrived at MDE tonight at about 8:15 on Copa. The line at immigration was approximately 70-80 people. It moved fairly fast. I was through it in about 20 minutes. The bags from my flight had already arrived. The bus to San Diego was almost full, so only had to wait a little while for it to leave. The bus fare is now 15,500. They also accept payment with a Metro card. Before I left the US, I used Ding to add data and minutes to my Colombian number. It's cheap. I paid for 6 days with 1g of data. Total cost was $2.68. When I arrived at MDE, everything was working. I received a message from Claro that I had added 7 days with 2g of data.

I arrived in MDE tonight but forgot to pack boxers (don't ask how please) I am pretty close to unicentro Laureles. Anyone know of a store or stores around Laureles that sales mens boxers / briefs? Also, I am looking for a mini 2 serving indoor grill, something like a mini george foreman. Anyone know where I can find one of these at? I will go and check out Exito as I have to make my first run there upon entering the city anyways.

People rave that the beaches in Copacabana and Ipanema are the best in the world. There are upwards of 40 million people living within 100 miles. You think they will vote / mention there favorite spots? Yep but it does not make it so. Outside Rio there are much nicer beaches. IMHO I lived in Baja for 6 years. Beaches there are nice compared to the desert here in Las Vegas. When I finally made it to Colombia. It was, still is beyond comparison to Tijuana. Only the drunken debauchery and memories in Tijuana can compare. But alas the reality of "the way it was" is a lot different then those fond select memories and. Things have changed. SAVE your memories, don't pollute them by returning to disappointment. LOL Enjoy Medellin & all of Colombia.

Some I can't help much with because I'm no longer searching for new girls in Medellin.

There are pluses and minuses to using Facebook. A big plus is you can fairly quickly find hundreds of potential dates. A big downside is, unless you use a separate device, which has no connections to any of your other accounts, or phone number, the people on your main Facebook account will eventually get some bleed over from your mongering account. I've had a few friends and family members complain about getting friend requests from Colombian girls. Go to the "Links to Reports of Distinction" thread and search for "Facebook" to find some step by step guides. Avoid Tinder.

Your risk of being drugged at a bar or restaurant, when you are alone is very low. I've never hesitated to drink whatever I wanted while out alone. However, when you are with someone, there's always a chance they will slip something in your drink, if you leave it unattended, or are distracted. One strategy is to minimize your drinking, drink slowly, small sips and to always keep your drink within sight and out of easy reach for anyone else. Avoid drinking to excess. If a girl is pushing you to drink that's a red flag. If, while you are setting up the date, the girl mentions drinking, another red flag. You're paying the girl to fuck, not to drink your booze.

Showering with a girl is excellent for foreplay, plus it ensures both of you are fresh and clean. Before the girl arrives you should secure all valuables, leaving out only what you need to pay her. Otherwise, your pants with all your stuff in the pockets, might get left where she can clean you out.

There are 2 different categories of short time hotels. In the first are the short time hotels, mostly in El Centro, where you would take street girls. You're unlikely to find any security there. You also won't be taking any Facebook girls to any of those places.

I think we left La Isla at 12:30. Cops were set up on Las Palmas just after the driveway. Pulled me in and spent about 2 minutes staring at my license before letting us go.
