The whole world is clickbait for some of the youtubers. It is indeed a hustle. They will say anything on those videos to get more views. They don't worry about reality or anyone's reputation getting in the way of their earnings potential. My advice is, whatever you are doing or not doing, avoid them whenever you see them.

I've been seeing reports that the Schwab card may not refund Davivienda's new fee because the fee is not disclosed. As you said, 15,000 a few times during a vacation visit is not going to ruin anyone financially. It does start to add if you are here all the time and you need a lot of cash on hand. I don't personally use cash for much of anything except girls. I very rarely do barrio plate of the day places so I can go a couple of months or more between ATM withdrawals. Just talking about this brings back my anger about not loading up on more pesos when it was at 5,000 just after Petro's election. I thought 20 million was enough but I was wrong LOL!

The problem I have with these videos, especially since I've never visited, is that I have no idea who is and who is not a working girl. Seeing your and other responses I realized that despite a lot of walking, I did not come across any large markets when I visited Bogota. Closest thing was a chain convenience store on the corner. Maybe I simply didn't look hard enough or it could have been the location I happened to stay in.

And you can always buy something small with a 50 k or 100 k note in these stores and get Change back. If someone doesn't have change it is quite common for them to take your bill and go to another business or person outside / nextdoor to make change; they will not run off with your money just wait patiently and they will bring you your change.

Once you go into the barrios those type of storesand pharmacies are nowhere to be found and they are replaced by smaller barrio tiendas and pharmacies which are typically cash only. And any street vendors and many restaurants are cash only even in the area where those bigger chain grocery stores are located.

If course if yiu are using apps (for the most part) they take cards. I think maybe Indriver doesn't take cards and some apps will not work with foreign cards such as trying to put a recarga on your Tigo or Claro phone thru the Tigo or Claro apps, however there is a workaround for this using a third party app called Ding. Using the app Rappi you can order food, groceries, and even pharmaceuticals and have them delivered to you and charged to your card. I don't use Uber, I use Indriver, sometimes Didi, and Picap and I always use cash but I guess you can use cards with Uber. I prefer to use the bus and the metro tho and for this you need cash. Even at terminal de norte some of the bus companies only take cash, I think when I went to Guatape it might have been cash only for that bus.

It's generally better to just have cash, anyone who has spent any time in Latin America would already know that.

A convenience store would be a good place. Anyway, there were lots of suggestions and any of them could work. And if you want to find the nearest grocery store or whatever just search on google maps for closest store for food, or comida, or whatever and it will bring up something in whatever location you are.

The difference is that in many places, it's illegal to solicit those women and they would get offended if you did. In Parque Lleras, most of the women are approachable and are okay with being offered, at least. I'm heading back to Medellin in the summer to visit family and may or may not visit Parque Lleras but here are a few tips from my last trip (I last visited in late 2022 so I'm not sure what has changed).

I totally understand how hard it is to solicit a girl when she's in a pack so don't waste your time since it seems you're new to this. Still, you'll usually see girls walking by themselves in the park and it's likely they are working. You'll also see the working girls hanging out in a smoking section where there are some overhangs. General rule of thumb, if a girl is just hanging out by herself or with a friend (not a table, eating or drinking) and doing nothing, she's waiting to be talked to. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between a person that's trying to get somewhere and someone who is just waiting.

Eye contact is key. If a girl is interested, she will give you a sign. They are not going to play hard to get. Look at her, smile, and say hola. One of the hardest things for some guys is to just stare at someone since we are taught not to do that. You need to practice getting over that feeling. Be confident, smile, and give her a nod; she will respond positively if she's ready to talk. Try to do this while you're standing still and before she's right next to you. So many shy guys will quietly whisper at the last moment or do it while walking briskly past a girl which sends a mixed signal. In many ways, this is the perfect place for shy guys to practice this type of self-improvement.

While you can try picking up girls in any place in Lleras (near the bars or restaurants), as a first timer, you can try sitting in the main park area and try this out on the girls who are walking by. It's a bit quieter and I've found that many working girls will stroll through the park at some point. If you're worried about missing out on girls, try sitting nearer to the gates. Either way, get a drink, sit down and just practice looking at the girls walking by and giving them a smile.

Be patient. Another simple way to see if a girl is working or not is that she will just mill around the place for a long time. If you're just hanging at the park sipping on a soda or something, you'll probably see a bunch of the girls who are also just posted up around the park. Most people don't just stand around for 20-30 minutes looking at their phone while dressed up. So don't speed walk around the park and leave in ten minutes, complaining that you couldn't tell who to talk to. Just relax, take some time, absorb the sights, and look for the signs I mentioned above.

When you find a girl you like, give her a look and see how she responds. If she's hard to make eye contact with, try to be direct when approaching her. Don't pop up from behind or meekly creep up from the side. Try approaching from the front so you can immediately tell if she's not interested.

You can try observing some of the other mongers. If you're willing to be patient and relax, you'll eventually find another monger on the prowl (or getting hunted by a lady) and you'll see how it's done.

It's okay to lose. Getting rejected is fine, so get over it. It's also okay to scope out a girl and have her get picked up by another guy while you are building up your confidence and learning how things work. As you get comfortable, you won't need to wait so long before making a move.

Some of these are just generic tips but hopefully some help for the newbies who are not used to hitting on random women.

Thanks for the tips. One question I have. How much would my lack of speaking pretty much any Spanish impact your tips? I'm not expecting fluent English at all but do they speak enough to discuss prices / expectations?

Half naked or with all kind of tight clothes is not how women that are not hookers dress. In general, when women in Latin America who are not hookers go out dancing or drinking, then they wear casual clothes, not clothes that shout look at me! If she is wearing something you would be ashamed to see her leave your place wearing the next afternoon, then she is a hooker.

Once in Manila I had a chick come see me from her hometown just to kick back. She had just arrived on the bus, but when she showed up at the hotel she had on those fucking hooker clothes. I asked her where her normal clothes were. She said after she got off the bus she changed out of them and left her bag in some kind of locker. I said we are here chilling, you did not need to dress like you were going out to find customers. She said she did not know. She thought men liked to see women dressed that way. I prefer my hookers to be conservatively dressed. That way if we are going out or something then at least she does not look like a hooker.
