I was staying at the Intercontinental a week ago. I booked a room for two and had no problems with guests. No $15 fee on the bill.

Most of the time I just walked in without incident. One time very late at night, I was asked by the front desk guy for my room number and he looked in the computer and made a copy of the chica's cedula. That same night, there were a bunch of loud, sad to say fellow New Yorkers, fighting with security over trying to bring in what looked like at least 5 girls (for three guys).

The night manager was handling it very well but refused to let them in. I would not try to bring in two girls, unless you bring them in during the day, one at a time.

Most of these hotels really do try to make you happy and stay out of your business. We should all be mindful of the image these better hotels try to portray. None of them want to be known as a cat houses. I've stayed at the Melia next door to the Intercontinental and managed to get a well dressed girl into my room during the day. I tried with an equally elegant girl the next night and was stopped at the elevator bank like I was a Al Quiada. Real uncomfortable feeling. Just walking into that hotel as a single man they make you feel like crap.

On my recent visit to SD I came across a nice outdoor bar called La Base. It has a sports bar theme. I understand it is part owned by an American, which I mention only because the service was great. Never had to wait for another beer.

They have the hottest girls waiting tables I've ever seen in DR- the hottest. On weekends they have a beach party theme and they all wear bathing suits. A lot of non pros seemed to be hanging around drinking and listening to the live band. Kinda like a Hooters, DR style.

I was only there for an hour, but the place looks like it has a lot of potential- lots of locals, and no tourists that I could tell. It is about a 7 minute drive from the Colonial Zone on Ave. Espana.

I saw a sign for a gentleman's club upstairs. Do any of you guys have more info on this place?

I was returning from a business trip to Pittsburgh & decided to stop off in Santo Domingo for a few nights. Selected the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel & Casino because I'm a Marriott wh*re & got a very good rate. Probably a mistake. Definitely NOT chica friendly (I'll post the policy when I get home & have access to a scanner). Well, ain't that great! Platinum or not, do deal. Only one I've found world-wide like that. If you're traveling single (e.g.: without the wife) I would strongly recommend you simply stay elsewhere, like the Intercontinental. too bad.

Important: take a cab everywhere or you'll sweat your balls off.

Ride from the airport was $35 US plus a $5 tip; no need to exchange there @28.87705 to the USD. Now I know.

Won a little bit at the Jaragua Casino. It's an okay casino, nothing better. IMHO I like the ones in Panama much better. Didn't see any available gals but it was early.

Headed over to the Intercontinental Casino & ultimately lost a little more than I had won earlier. Immediately hit upon by two obviously working gals playing $1 blackjack. BTW - no need to exchange your gambling money - they have chips in USD denominations as well. Wasn't quite ready, 8PM or so, walked over by the Mystic hotel to the little spot next door (The Girls House, I believe).

Nice atmosphere, clean, reasonably cool. I go to the bar & am immediately surrounded by the lineup. I ask if anyone can speak English, Angela Marie immediately pops to the top of the list. I buy myself one beer & her a vino & we head to the couch. She asks the door man to turn up the A/C 'cause I'm a little sweatball.

A little cooling down & grab-ass later & I confirm bbbj is okay & photos are okay. I pay the bill. P2500 for her and $450 for the drinks. Okay, I'm out P2950 so far for 2 hours --- like I'll ever last that long!

Check in next door & it's another P790 (not positive there, I was a little distracted).

In the room & to the shower - now I feel better. A little fun, DATY then on to me. Well, she lied about the bbbj but the cbj was nice followed by CG. She is genuinely a fun little gal. She used to work at a hotel for about $200 US per month now makes about P2500 per day.

We finish & I give her a P500 tip - in retrospect probably a bad decision considering the lack of a bbbj. Then she wants another P100 for a beer. Okay, who cares.

Bottom line - this little tryst cost me P4340 or $150.29 US. Certainly a pretty good deal by US standards but a pretty bad deal by other Latin American standards. IMHO there are much better options available - in fact just about anywhere in L.A. On the other hand, if you have a chica-friendly hotel & you pick up independants the value may change dramatically. We'll see if the independant thing works out tonight....assuming my old ass can stay up that long....

If you just dropped in to the best hotel in town and paid what it took at the associated clubs I think you would pay at least as much in CR,Columbia,Panama or Mexico.

The attraction in the DR is the depth of the field. You can definitely find it much better and much cheaper, and you can find it all over the country. A lot of the chicas in those downtown clubs elsewhere in LA would be Dominicanas. This is the motherland.

If you eat in upscale restaurants, the produce will always cost quite a bit but it may not be the the freshest or the best. Go out in the campo and buy direct from the grower for the cheapest, freshest, and the best selection.

You did not read his post properly. He paid 2500 which at girls house is normal fair. He only bought one drink for himself and one for the chica. The only real mistake he made was staying at jaragua. So he spent 800 pesos for mystik, which is aprox 20 bucks. that is not making or breaking the situation. He did tip for 500 peses, i normall tip them 300 pesos and they are happy. but im sure alot of people do tip them 500 pesos.

oOtherwise he was not taken advantage by asking for english girl or sweating, because he paid normal fee for everything.

Dan D Dick's biggest mistake Interdude is he tried to monger in English, in a country where everybody speaks Spanish.

I have received over 100 pm's in the past 4 years from guys who say to me

It was equivalent to a Japanese monger in New York paying more than $1000 for an evening of entertainment and pussy. Knowledge about the market and the transaction is important. You pay for not having it. Just keep in mind that effort, study, experience in the market can pay off with better quality at a fraction the price.

Whoah.Guys. If you fully agree with those prices (which tend to be the most contoversial topic) then to each his own. I only addressed THE PRICE because it seemed to be of concern to Dan D. If we let people think that this is the norm then it will be. I agree with the non negotiables such as drinks and room but he could have saved 1000 alone by getting her to go for 2000 and holding the "tip". She DID NOT provide the service that was agreed upon. Im no tight wad. If you read my post you will see that I agree with "tipping" but only for excellent service. In the end It's all relative but it needs to be established that Ds experience is NOT that of a seasoned sportsman under the same circumstances.take the time to learn the culture and language. Just act like you know what the hell is going on at all times even if you dont. LEARN THE LANGUAGE. I dont speak fluently but my conversation is good enough to get them to fuck for free 3/10 of the time. If you have the money and pay here in the states then guess what? YOU WILL PAY HIGH PRICE OUT OF THE STATES.I get it free here and owe it to myself to employ the same strategies abroad. They work! Enough talk. Have you been to Girl's House? The rate is 2500 paid to management. There is no negotiating with management. If you get the girls number you can try and hook up after work for less if she didn't already bag a customer, but 2500 is the rate.

At Parada which is nearby the rate is 3000. I paid that and I live here. Of course it was for a chica I have known for years and now when I want she will just come to my place for TLN for 2000 pesos.

I don't think a guy that doesn't speak spanish will have much luck doing those deals though so Dan paid going rate.

Tell me which casa in santo domingo you know of that charges less than 2500 pesos? I can think of a few off the beaten path places. I know one "place" that you pay 500 pesos to mama san and then 1000 to the chica. Small selection and the last 5-6 times I have stopped by only one chica that would be able to do OK at girls house. I prepaid a 500 peso salida, so when I am in the mood I call up mama san, and say send me the cute one and I pay the girl 1000 pesos. I know a few other places where you can pay 2000 pesos for an hour or so on site. To leave. . . . .not much under 2500 pesos.

I went to a place that is way off the beaten path and never gets any gringos. I paid 2500 pesos and could probably have negotiated better, but the girl had a killer body and stayed all night till 11 am, and was well worth it.

Of course I also get laid for free on many occasions, but I live here and more importantly speak the language. If you are here for a few days and don't speak spanish. . . .2500 is about right.

La Base is cool. Took a date there a few weeks back to watch subway series. Girls in bikinis was a nice touch on saturday. Upstairs is a dance floor and dance club as far as I know, not a gentlemen's club. There used to be a strip club a few blocks away named jazzys, but they have been closed since a few chicas died in a fire there. Rumor has it owner is in jail.

There is another place on that side of the bridge that is a similar set up to Base and it is called Eagles. Eagles is on san isidro and there is a strip club across the street called sutra. To get to eagles from La Base, continue on avenida espana till the overpass, stay left and go over overpass onto charles de gaulle. Stay on "charlie" till you get to a traffic light on the corner of san isidro. Make a left on san isidro and a few blocks down on left hand side will be eagles.
