I'm in Texas so American Airlines always has reward seats open... PVR is also safe for me to go clubing or drinking at 3am, and between the locals and the Snow Birds its a fun time in Winter :)

I do need to get out and go elsewhere, but all of my friends locally do not share my Hobby, and I know several locals in PVT which makes it cool.

Here is a listing of the domestic airlines in Mexico. One bit of advice I can give you, is that generally it is much cheaper booking your flight while in Mexico at a travel agency. I have found this to be true in other parts of the world as well.

las antorches, across from the cruise ships, is doing business as usual. at 5 pm on a wednesday, with one ship in port, there were 8 girls. six were plain and slightly overweight, one was quite fat, and one was reasonably slim. beer (indio) was 25 pesos, a 5 peso increase from my last visit. the house in the rear, which is quite a walk from the bar on a narrow cement path, was open for business.

A good price is for me if the agency gives a special offer for a girl or good looking girls I get for around 2 200 Pesos for 2 hours from an agency. I met up with Blackhawk69 at Las antarches and both him and Exthalmus last night in the Zona. Blackhawk69 is a cool guy and he knows how to host a party. Ex is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Rojilio, BH69's wingman, was there too. Unfortunately I had another friend with me who could not stay longer so we had to move on.

They had some very good quality in Sxtravaganza last night (best I have seen so far). I went with Veronica who is a tall, very fair complexioned girl. She is a bit shy and new to the business. I got pulled over for going into the "lateral" illegally from the main road. This happened at 1 AM and they followed us from the club. They roll a piece of paper into a cone and ask you to blow into it, smell it and figure out if you are "drunk". What a scam. I had a couple of drinks but I was not drunk .

They threatened to take to the station and have a "doctor" check the blood alcohol level blah..blah..blah...but who knows if I was in legal limits or not or if the machines are accurate or not or how long it would take us. It cost us $300 US to get out.

Moral: At least late at night, use a taxi.

I stopped driving in PV at night years ago as the policia have become more aggressive looking for cash even from those of us who live here. A few months ago driving home from a late dinner and many drinks a friend and I were pulled over and the policia produced a small hand held breathalyzer. Cost him $2, 000 pesos to get out of it. Always take a taxi.

Guys, listen to the good advice of Vitrea and Section11: Take a taxi when you plan to go out drinking!

The problem is: there are relatively few personal cars out on the Puerto Vallarta streets during the after-midnight hours. Your shiny rental car will be a cop-magnet on those well-patrolled streets. Late at night, I have had the cops follow me for a few miles - just waiting for me to commit any traffic infraction, so they would have an excuse to check for alcohol on my breath.

Using taxis is such a good idea. All of the nightclubs, popular restaurants, stripbars, etc. will have taxis waiting out front to safely take you home. Even in the Zona Rojo (Stravaganza, Las Alansas, etc.), there are at least three, or four, taxis always waiting in the parking lot. Just make sure to ask the taxi driver for the fare BEFORE you enter his taxi. The city has fixed taxi charges (depending on distance) to travel from one zone to another. The fare is per ride, NOT per passenger. Most taxi drivers are honest and charge these official prices. But occasionally, you will run across a driver who will try to over-charge.

i got stopped by the cops in pv now over 5 times always for speeding. first they tell me that they take my driving license and made a big story out of it like i have to go next day to the police station to pick it up. this would be the correct and also cheapest way for a foreigner like us. the big problem is that u have no driving license so you can´t continue driving. they know your problem very well. just wait until they told you what they do and give them your driving license, then ask them how much it would be without a ticket. normaly they know that it´s there last chance because you already give them the license. then they will tell you 500 pesos. you need to tell them look, if i go there tomorrow i only need to pay 250 pesos because of the 50% discount if you pay during the first days. then offer him like 250 pesos. he knows you are foreigners so he will try to push the price up to 500. you have plenty of time to chat with him, tell him the 500 pesos is impossible because your kids want to eat so lets make 300 pesos. don´t accept more then 400 pesos. if he still wants more just say no thanks, take the license and tomorrow i am off with 250 pesos. if the cop is not stupid he will now reduce the price! if no, let him take the license.

Sounds like this is big problem. Don't these guys realize that it is bad for local economy to harass tourists? I can understand DUI issues and I am at fault for driving after a few drinks. Last night my buddy was the designated driver.

One reason to take your own car is to avoid cover charge. So own car with designated driver or onw way car to the club and return in a cab is another option. BTW, we did not get charged for any cover cover charge at Aqua or taboo during 4 trips because we drove ourselves.

In the end the math was still against us. We saved $150 in covers and paid more to the cops :-)

a guy I ran into at car rental place says he brings several fake IDs from US and gives them to the cops. He let's them
keep it. He also asks the rental car company to the take the rental sticker off. I am not sure if that helps.
