What's the best place in Colombia for this? Cartagena seems like the most likely option, but I'm wondering if there's a better place that's less touristy, and more unique, while not being so far out in the boonies that its going to be dangerous, stressful, no infrastructure.

Also the potential trip wouldn't be super long. Maybe only about a week. What would be the best way to go about finding some attractive arm candy for the trip to keep me company for most of the time? Is there a way to go about that at all? Seems most of the posts are about short term 1-2 hours, or at most 1 night stay. Is this even a good idea to try to do this? Might cause drama when its time for me to leave. How would I find vet them before I show up, to make sure they're not weird, or going to try to rob me?[/QUOTE]A very tall order. Most people in Colombia, like most everywhere, can't just drop everything they are doing and go off for a week with a total stranger. So for sure only a sex worker, and even then one that doesn't have much of a life. And if you are looking for arm candy that would weed out many of those. But there are chicas waiting for just such a chance. Someone they can get close to and then drug and call their accomplices in to rob, and if you are lucky, to leave you unconscious.

Anyway. Once you live in a place for a while, get to know people, you may find a girlfriend of some sort that would vacation with you. But to expect to just come in and find someone that is "arm candy" to hang out with you and travel around is, I think, unrealistic, and possibly risky.

But the danger is far greater for them, going off with someone they don't know for who knows what sort of kinky stuff. So again, I would be very suspicious of any takers on your plan.

Best visit places you want to see and hook up locally in places where everyone feels safe. Ie a hotel that will copy or hold the gal's cedula while you are in the room with her. Then everyone knows there is some public record there of who saw who when, which means that no one is likely to go criminal in some way.

I know in the dr they have agencies that will let you hire a girl to give you tours and sleep with you. Don't mind paying the money honestly.

Another question if you guys don't mind. Are there times I should or shouldn't visit? Seems most places say try to visit Jan. / Feb. Or late summer for most places in Colombia, for weather reasons. Is that correct?

I saw a post somewhere that during elections, everything closes early and they don't serve alcohol or something. I assume there won't be another election for a while again (not annual I hope?) but any other random things like that I have to avoid?

Had I known how good it would be I would have made it a 7 day trip. We had not had sex before the trip. She was "occupied" with another Gringo staying at the Mansion. But I had gotten to know her hanging out and knew she wanted to see Napoles. I asked if she'd like to go once he returned to the US and she said absolutely. (I don't think he was thrilled, but she was not his wife). We had a great time (including sex) and when we got back I asked her what the appropriate payment was. She said she felt like she should pay me. I still gave her something like 600,000 COP. She later took me to her family home and I knew she needed it. I was in my forties at the time.

It can be done. They aren't all mercenaries. But you need to get to know them a bit first. Don't think you can pick a girl off the street corner and go away for a week. Mansion is a good place to try. (I am not a shill, Mansion's wrong for the budget punter who just wants as many SWs as possible.).

It can be cold by Colombian standards, I don't mind the temperature. In general Central and S. America clears up in December and continues that way until March / April. Remember predicting the weather is dicy at best. We had a destination wedding for one of my daughters in Saint Lucia, was in the dry season, well so much for the dry season, it rained cats and dogs for 3 of the 4 days we were there, you pays for money and you take your chances.

Also I would advise to avoid Christmas time and Semana Santa. Election time and one day Holidays wouldn't have more than a day or so effect. Take the plunge, enjoy and be safe.

In the case of yellow fever vaccination, it was required only if one visited a set of countries, in the last 30 days. I was not affected so I did not read further but the countries were listed in their website. I suggest you do the same, check both the destination country and the US websites. They will most likely have the answer to your question.

The attestation form I filled out was back in August last year, then in November they didn't give me one, only Check MIG, also was there in March and it was only the Check MIG, no attestation form. This was on JetBlue. If it's not those forms, then disregard this post.

I have mongered a good bit in Southeast Asia (mainly Thailand and Indonesia), but I have never been to Colombia. Does anybody here know both SE Asia and Colombia and could you compare them? I am especially interested in the following:

- Access to petite / short girls / spinners (very good in SE Asia, I expect Colombians are generally taller).

- Soft pubic hair (many SE Asian girls have very soft / sparse pubic hair, I expect Colombians have coarser public hair, more like Southern Europeans).

- Safety (very good in SE Asia, seems not so good in Colombia).

- Prices (have risen a good bit in Thailand, may be beginning to rise in Indonesia. Colombia seems pretty cheap for the time being judging from posts on the forum).

Contrasts / comparisons on other aspects also welcome.

The only prices that have risen in Thailand is for gasoline. It costs me twice as much to fill up my motorbike than it did last year and before. Condo rental prices have actually fallen. My monthly apartment rent has been the same $120 for the last 14 years. I am still paying taxis $30 from the airport to my place an hour and a half away in Pattaya. I am still giving chicks the same $30 for all night that I have always given them. If you want to go through a middleman such as a bar to get chicks, then maybe there is an increase in price. But there is no reason to get chicks that way. Hell you can even go there to meet them and have them come over after work for a more normal price. Go experience Colombia for Colombia but do not expect it to find Southeast Asia (where even different countries and even cities within the same countries are different.).
