New Bar – "Nana Place" on Soi Annie's
I’m long overdue with a post so I figured I’d send one out on the brand new place that just opened up on Annie’s Side Soi between Soi 4 (Nana) and Soi 2 in the bottom of the Rajah Hotel (enter from the street).
I was walking down the street with my laundry from Soi 4 to the Marriott on Soi 2 when I came across a big party in the middle of the street with about 50 tables set out, DJ, Beer Leo and Singha girls, food and coyote dancers. It was the grand opening party for “Nana Place” a brand new bar in the Rajah Hotel. It’s right next door to Annie’s soapie place.
I talked with a guy in a suit who encouraged me to come back so I dropped off the laundry and sort of forgot about it. I ended up on Soi 4 an hour later and noticed a smokin little hottie in tiny cut off shorts, nice perky chest and high heels and proceeded to follow her as she turned into Annie’s soi and sat down at a table at the party with some friends for a few minutes then she went into the bar. So what else to do but follow.
Inside I was the only customer with about 40 girls seated to the left and an empty stage that they promised would have dancers after 7PM. I found my little hottie and invited her and her friend to sit with me. I also chatted with the mama who explained it was 1500 ST to take a girl upstairs (includes girl, bar fine and room), and 2000 LT to take a girl to your hotel and 1500 for ST to your hotel.
I asked to see the rooms with my 2 new friends so mama took us down a hall behind the bar, thru the Rajah dining room (more on that later) and to reception where she got the key. We then took the elevator to the 3rd floor. I paid mama 3000THB and had a great time with the two girls for 90 minutes or so. Nothing special to report, they were very pretty by Nana standards and fun. It was their very first night and I literally scooped them up 5 minutes into their very first shift. They had previously worked at a naughty massage place somewhere else in Bangkok that serviced Thai and farang.
Some observations:
1. The rooms are OK but now I wished I brought them back to my room in the JW Marriott which is 500 yards away for the same price. But then my report would be incomplete!
2. The Rajah room had two small single beds, too small for a decent 3-some. We should have pushed them together I suppose.
3. The room was pretty plain and sort of clean I suppose, but no hot water. At the end we found the hot water going into a drain under the sink via a disconnected hose. The cold showers sucked.
4. The bar itself has a weird layout, there are just 2 couches in front of the stage, and while I sat with my 2 girls the other 40 girls all were looking and talking about us I suppose. I’m not a paranoid type and didn’t care…but it was a bit weird. They are almost in a sideline type arrangement.
5. I think they had all the girls there for the opening, but that would be a lot of girl for that size place on a normal night I think unless this bar gets really popular.
6. Other than the 2 couches and the couches the girls sit on, there are high bar chairs and tables in the rest of the bar. Not the best layout.
7. They only serve Leo, Singha and Heineken, no Chang (my beer of choice).
8. Another bad thing: you have to pass thru the Rajah restaurant going to/from the rooms. Again, I don’t care that much but coming back there were a bunch of people eating (normal Thais) so needless to say a big old farang parading thru the restaurant with two young hotties in skimpy bar outfits arm in arm got some stares. I guess we could have gone outside on a normal night but I didn’t do it in front of the party.
9. The mama told me they close at 3AM or later because they have special permission from the police. I’m not sure if that’s just tonight with the party or every night. There were many police at the party enjoying the free beer and food and coyote dancers.
10. Mama said the girls are from all over, but the two I got were Issan girls (imagine that).
Bottom line: it’s worth a visit and I think it could be improved. The girls and pretty and they are new for now.
If you read this tonight (July 4th) swing by the party!
Sorry for the long post but I hope this is helpful.

Bangkok off the beaten track
As a long-term resident, I'd like to know more about Bangkok low-end venues off the beaten track (outside of lower Sukhumwit, Silom, major soapies).
I'm fascinated by seedy sex-work corners on their own (going with a girl is not a primary motivation), so all this is purely for academic purposes, of course
To get the talk rolling, I'll list a few places with very sparse info I have on them.
Pherburi
* Khampaeng Phet 7 (behind the old Siam hotel). After 10pm, plenty of streetwalkers stand in groups along the dark street (KP 7). Customers mostly come in cars, ST rate seems to be 1500. Girls look good but are obviously pimped, and there's collusion on the price. Never took part, seems like poor value.
Sanam Luang
* Not much on the circle itself, few OK looking girls at Thammasat side, with pimps standing across the street.
* Area east of Sanam Luang, and south of Khao San Road is teeming with low-class walkers after 5pm. The area is bounded by Rachini / Rachadamnoen Klang / Dinso and Bamrung Muang roads (see Google maps). Some girls look OK, but the neighborhood seems very dirty, a rare place in central BKK where you can still see hogs and chicken. Got offers for 500 (so they'd take less) from a girl who was OK looking. Didn't partake, dirty streets that put me off, but would have taken the same in Sukhumwit.
Yaowarat
* Yaowarat Soi 2 (? ), the busy paved touristy street with huge seafood places at the entrance. There 5-10 *Chinese* walkers, starting in the afternoon. Usually not good looking, but on some nights there are OK ones. Even good looking ones agree to 400 baht (you offer 300, they'll counter with 500.- if you just ask, they'll quote a 1000+). Decent ST hotel is near Texas massage in the small side soi (160 baht).- go to *your* choice of ST place, not theirs. Service is generally bad, but given the price and novelty worth it.
* Traffic circle / Mit Phan / Maitri Chit roads. Thai streetwalkers (50+) ranging from 300 to 600 based on the looks.- they seem desperate. ST hotels look ofputting, a passable one is near the new condo project.
* Shopping mall above Tesco (might be Yaowarat Soi 8) has plenty of massage and Karaoke places on 2nd floor. Seems like a place for old Chinese men, with equally old Chinese hookers. Can't quite figure it out.
It would be great if experienced members could point out other similar off-Farang-track places. Few questions:
* Anything in Phahurat? I never did an Indian.
* Are there any brothel-type places in Bangkok? By this, I don't mean the high-end "massage", but similar to Thai upcontry knock-shops.
* Anything else in Yaowarat (perhaps more upscale, preferably with Chinese girls)?
* Anything in Pinklao or elsewhere on Thonburi side?
In Bangkok asking a taxi or a tuk tuk driver for hidden low end places is futile.- they always direct me to major zones we all know, or MPs where they earn a commission. Very different than upcountry, where tuk tuk drivers are a great source of info.
