From POP to Sosua is a standard of $$25 for the 15 min ride. They expect a tip but its not necessary.
If you go down often, your taxi amigo will charge $20.
If your chica meets you at the airport, give her the $25 to pay the taxi and she'll be smiling all the way to town. :)

This effort seems calclated, political, and economic. If they eliminate the undocumented Haitians, there will be more money for those from RD. More RD chicas will arrive to work. The wages may rise. More money will be retained in the RD. Much less money will be sent to Haiti. Probably, less crime and agression. And of course, more votes for the establishment.

I'm heading over next friday with the posse', ill give you the 411 but in the past sousua and the government have made these types of (threats) promises where the girls who worked in the bars had to walk around with name tag photo IDS when leaving work after hours and were scared to be on the streets after closing for fear of being picked up by the POLITUR. I have a feeling that this might be some sort of similar project all under the guise of rounding up the many illegal haitianas but who knows. The other side of me says that this might be all hyperbole and when I get there it will just be more of the same ole hyjinxs.. lol

I assume you are talking about deporting all undocumented Haitians (not just putas) since you say that "less money will be sent to Haïti" and the amount sent back by putas is a tiny percentage of all the remittances (less than 1%?).
That will not happen since it suits the rich and powerful to have a source of (almost) slave labor working hard for a pittance. As you yourself say "wages may rise". This is not what employers want.
And the DR government already has every legal right to deport undocumented and illegal immigrants (which they do from time to time anyway), so why would they need a new initiative to justify it?
And even if they did deport them, the border guards would soon let them back in. It is a profitable racket for them.

If were talking about hard labor(construction), the Haitians are more efficient and the Dominicans' don't want to work at those wage's. Yes employer's in this sector benefit.
If were talking about "tricking in Sosua" the above paragraph does not apply. Haitiana's and Dominican'a can compete equally providing the same service at roughly the same price's. It only effect's the rich and powerful Dominican's when the Haitian's get superior number's and the Dominicana's can't compete. When this happen's there is less tourism dollar's going into the Dominican economy and more being sent to Haiti.
I don't know about a new Haitian initiative. But over the last few month's(since the earthquake) the Dominican govt has toned down it's contempt for Haiti as the world watches under the humanitarian cover.

I did not notice this during the past weekend. Met a Haitian, who provided outstanding service.
I would have to agree with the professor. I saw nothing of a crackdown and also enjoyed as much company with the chicas from Haiti as I wanted.

If you read my post's I do stupid shit like the next guy but my heart is good. I will be in Santo Domingo, Santiago, And Sosua next month, so I will reserve judgement about current event's until then.
My thread is basically for anything in the DR, it keeps the Sosua board on topic. Since you won't post on my "dedicated thread" let me ask here:
What do they do with the influx of new Haitian's?
What economic affect will this have on Dominican's?
Will Haitian's be deported?
Please redirect replies to the" Mr. Gogo thread" where everyone can discuss this while keeping the Sosua thread reserved for Sosua.

I think it may be a bit more than a money grab. There's some politics involved with the new regime, and politics is ALWAYS about money. I have been informed that it was the National Police, so a bit more serious.
Bar Central was not allowing entry to Haitians (however they knew... profiling?) without proper ID and Visa.
I will have a LOT more info in a couple days, my regular girl is Haitiana, and last time I was there her visa had expired about 6 months prior. She hasn't been out a night since last Saturday, but said as long as she's with me it will be fine... (who knows?).
Part of the historical problem there is that when there are fewer and fewer gringos (and that's a sad sad fact), there are too many girls. The girls fight amongst themselves, and any of you that have seen, IMO the Haitianas are much more violent, especially with the broken bottle attacks.
Then, as evidenced 4 weeks ago, I saw very few of the Dominicanos (yes, the chulos) that hang out at Flow and such with nice haircuts, new shoes and clothes, etc. It was obvious when the money is slow to come in, the chicas bail on everyone but themselves and their kids. There have been a few serious violent events in Charamicos... more than normal recently.
In Cliff Notes: I think (IMO) this is a supply and demand issue that is being "corrected". It makes a hell of a lot more sense to "cleanse" the streets of undocumented working girls than ridding it of the Legal ones and ones that don't cause problems.
Take it for what it's worth, if history is any predictor, all the girls that BEHAVE properly will be allowed to stay. It might cost them pesos or a bit of pleasuring, but doubt THE GOOD ONES will be sent home.
