The local media, especially the right wing like El Colombiano would have you believe foreigners in Medellin are perpetrating a modern day rape of Nanking. It's quite something. The coverage has always been exaggerated but lately it's been next level. Any of you who were here when that sicko killed his girlfiend in Bogota and put her in a suitcase he left in a dumpster will remember the 24/7 coverage that interrupted regular broadcasting. Colombians commit similar crimes most every day and it doesn't get anything near that kind of wall to wall coverage. There is normally a small blurb about the latest body found in a quebrada or the Medellin River. I'm not exaggerating when I say it happens several times a week.

There's a Middle Eastern place by OCI Medellin which I like. If you're in Envigado, Calle de La Buena Mesa has several good options. For lunch try burgers and chocolate malts at Classic Diner. In the hills east of Envigado are a lot of cool restaurants.
