MDE Airport to Medellin Bus Transportation
I took the Combus from MDE airport to the Exposiciones metro station and it was quite easy. As soon as I came out of the airport terminal, the bus was right there. The bus stops at San Diego shopping center first and then, at the Exposiciones metro station. I saw taxis waiting at the San Diego shopping center and also, at the metro station. You pay the bus driver before getting off the bus. The fare was 15.5 K (aka 15.5 mil or 15.500 COP) pesos. You can pay with cash or with the "Civica" card. Make sure you take the bus that says Tunnel because that route is much quicker.
During my previous and this trip, I used the Metro a lot to get around; it was very convenient and safe. The Metro map is at all stations and the stations are staffed adequately to guide you if you need help. I had gotten the Civica Eventual card during my previous trip and 3 years later, it was still working and had the same balance that I had left on, which was a surprise to me. The card cost is a one-time charge of 10.900 COP. Then, just kept loading up the card with more money as needed. Each one way trip through out the system (I. E. As long as you don't exit the station turnstile) is 3.650 pesos.
Neighbors called the cops on me!
First time in Medellin in a year and everything has changed. The immigration officer asked to check my phone and thank goodness I had just gotten a new phone the day before and had nothing on it. Both immigration officers looked at me with disgust regardless. First La Isla prices are through the roof and are not worth it. The women there keep hounding you for money. It's a complete gringo trap now. They charge $150-200 for one bang not including entry fee and drinks. I went with a girl and I didn't last 10 minutes and I felt like a complete idiot. $150 for that? What a complete ripoff!
On facebook tons of girls are gone and there are barely girls advertising now. Its like only the fuglies remain. I did find one keeper, she was 20 yr old spinner. I am very very discreet and checked her ID. 20 minutes after she arrives, I hear the loudest banging on my door and it's 4 police officers! They came in furious, screaming asking questions. Apparently, a lady in the building called the cops. Now the girl who was aggressive in negotiating played victim. They asked for her ID and it was fake! Luckily she turned out to be 18 and she was just too lazy to get her own ID but what a terrible experience. What if she was 17? I would've gone to jail and my face would've been all over the news. They took pictures of me. All the neighbors were in the hallways wondering what was going on. It was 3 hour debacle.
Listen the crackdown is real! Colombians are pissed about guys coming here for women. Not only that my friend I hangout with here got robbed in Estadio in broad daylight and he's a veteran with 7 years in Medellin. I know this forum likes to look at Medellin with rose colored glasses but this place has gotten terrible. The honeymoon is over. I hope the tourism collapses in Medellin. Maybe you're reading this and you didn't have a bad experience. Or you think it won't happen to you and you could be right, but you could also be wrong. Is it worth the stress? Back to Tijuana and Thailand for me.
